"No matter how many crappy, stupid, useless assignments you throw at me, I'm not going to quit and I'm not going to back down." Rory Gilmore at her best
Even though Paris irritated Rory, Paris never tore Rory down. Never said she wasn't good enough. Paris actually often mentioned how smart Rory was and she was her only real competition at Chilton. Mitchum on the other hand was supposed to mentor her, encourage. He was the adult figure and it was the first time an adult had tore Rory down.
@@onlyhuman576 Yeah I think it's different when it comes from someone who is your peer as opposed to someone who is higher up than you and has more experience. I remember Lorelai telling Rory that 'it's just one man's opinion' and Rory responding saying something like "he's the guy, if you ever want to get one man's opinion he's the guy to go to"
@@AP-pm9qy Also, Rory knew why Paris was torturing her, and she was vindicated by the fact that she didn’t do anything wrong and stood by her actions. With the journalism job, the cruelty was more personal and hit her where her esteem was (her academic/professional career), which is worse.
Due to the way her family treated her; always spoiled, a good smart young girl with no wrongs. She was not able to adjust to the real world. Example: Mitchum. They’re mad that Mitchum told her she didn’t have it. When instead they should be mad that she quit and let it get to her. Old Rory would’ve never accepted Mitchums word without a fight is all I’m saying…

Except when she gets to Yale and Mitchum tells her she's not good enough
Where was this energy with Yale and Mitchum????
She is truly the Next Reigning Lorelai.
That energy is reserved for Paris,@@tfaddict8254and Paris alone.
No other living being could arouse that much wrath within Rory.
Why didn't she go to Paris after Mitchum tore her down. Paris would have set her straight and lit a fire under her

Where was this attitude when she was told she couldn’t be a journalist
I was thinking the same

Agreed!

they're honestly WAY too interested in each other for it to be platonic
