Ethnic cleansing is wrong- whether against the innocent Hindu minority in Kashmir or by BJP government against innocent Muslims in Kashmir. Revenge after three decades against the whole population? Genocide
At 11.14min u mentioned that it was "Possible" BJP nudge for jagmohan to be appointed governor. At 12:30min u "conclude" very "subtly" that on demand n pressure of BJP jagmohan was sent to beat the kashmir.. Sir how come is this neutral journalism?? We as audience gonna watch each n every min of what u people are saying. Days r gone when u people played very subtly to our subconscious..
I have not watched 'The Kashmir Files' simply because it may be too triggering for me . But what this movie has managed to achieve is that we are all talking about a topic swept under the carpet for far too long. We may be on any side of the political spectrum but accepting the fact that this happened is the first step. I think that was the core purpose of the movie.
We owe it to every child, woman and man who went through this long long nightmare. They went through this, we must go and be witness to what they lived.. Please do go and encourage your friends and family too
Shekhar, Narasimha Rao was perhaps one of the most under-reported and unsung of all the Prime Minister's that India has had! The kind of geo-politics he managed through his tenure and ensured a minority government completed it's term was really a big thing! His boldness in the sphere of politics and economics gave India the much needed impetus! And yes, Thanks for this CTC , now perhaps people will get a perspective to all sides of the subject in a more appropriate manner!
He had his one share of the blame for problems in India later on - Babri Masjid demolition. Being Indian PM means a mixed legacy. Only one without a mixed legacy but a positive one was Shastri.
@@NoobMaster-or2jf yes shashtri was positive one. but he was killed by our own congress. i hope you have watched the tashkent files. what a great movie it was amazing. now kashmir files have shown the another truth.
PV has been unsung hero in economical front and against terrorism too. No one recognizes his role, one guy takes cradit to economical reforms others his own party disowned him only for selfish political gains. They lost foresight and plunged Congress to present situation. I strongly belive BJP should go out of party line and declare bharat ratna to PV
The thing you need to know is that the then CM, Farooq Abdullah, left for UK (knowing very well what was about to happen in Kashmir since he himself was a part of the plan) and the killings started the very next day. So, basically it was all planned under him and when the time came to execute, he fled to avoid the blame and let the then Governor be the fall guy. For me it was the Barkha dutt's commentary on Kashmir genocide where she sympathised with the poor-muslim-kashmiris for venting out against rich-govt-job-wale Pandit's that really opened my eyes to these vulture Journalists and I began distancing myself from left wing.
Shekhar Gupta wishes viewers to conclude of the sort, "50 yrs of congress regime, and handful years of BJP, if economy collapses because of past 50 yrs of corruption, BJP led govt will be responsible!"

Heart wrenching movie, i am from Maharashtra. A guy in my class is from jammu and his father was kicked out during the genocide. Thanks to balasaheb Thackeray that the kashmiri pandit students were able to get education in Maharashtra.
You are correct Sir. We Kashmiri Pandits shall ever remain grateful to Shri Balsaheb Thackeray for helping us out with their continuing education. Now coming to the situation in January 1990, when Hindus were killed mercilessly and indiscriminately leading to their mass exodus, it was created due to system failure all the years since partition. Congress and National Conference were both responsible for this. Pakistani ISI feasted on this ripe situation and successfully poisoned the majority population leading to a difficult situation for the country.
Genocide!? How come 150 death of pandits a Genocide while 30,000 deaths of kashmiri muslim not a genocide? I have sympathy with KPs but manipulating history to Shape the current Political narrative won't serve any purpose.
@@dhawalyerne2570 "30,000" man is just throwing random numbers. even if you're counting every single terrorist eliminated by the indian military and every single death straight from POK to Kashmir, it won't be 30,000 lmao. whatta clown, sit down

The right word as used in the CTC is ethnic cleansing. The number killed as per official estimates is around ~200, but the great movie claims ~4000. By that measure, the 1984 Sikh killings should also be called a genocide then. The 2002 Gujarat riots can also be called a genocide then.

Shekhar ji, you rightly gave credit to Narasimha Rao government for putting a brave fight back in both Punjab and Kashmir during early 1990s. Sometimes I feel that Narasimha Rao has not got his due credit and respect in the Indian politics. Sonia Gandhi did not like him, but BJP also never praised him publicly, whereas Rao was very close friend of Vajpayee and had also sent him to United Nations as Head of the Indian delegation. At that time, Rao was the P.M. and Vajpayee the Opposition party leader. Those were the days. And not to forget the 1992 economic reforms, which later became the cornerstone of the beginning of economic rise of the country. Narasimha Rao had the guts and courage to go against the tide. May be his youth days of freedom fighter, in which he fought not on the roads, but in the forests. He was a pseudo army-man who was fighting British police in Andhra forests, with rifle in his hand. Hard to believe but it's true!
Ya he fought and taken India at better destiny but bjp not praised him because he brought a law where relegious places law. He wasn not from Gandhi family and also centerastic seqular person couldn't be in lime light. If he was not there kashmir could have gone more out of control.
Indeed, because Gandhi’s despised him for having become PM. He was perhaps God given gift to India. When he came to power India was in taters. Kashmir problem had become huge. India had just few days of foreign exchange left, the regional parties with their incompetent Leaders from VP Singh to chadershekhar has sucked India dry.

Exodus or Ethnic cleansing is not the same as genocide. The entire movie repeats this time and again. And here we have Shekar and Print Showing their true colors by calling it Exodus. Wowwww!
What true colour you want to see . Go and watch masala news on TV. This episode was recorded two years back , at least he did his Job by telling people about something that has been hidden under the carpet for so many years. Now because of the Kashmir files main stream news channel are talking about it as they just want TRP. Yes we know that exodus and ethnic cleansing are not same as genocide. Ethnic cleansing does include genocide/mass killing whereas exodus basically means migration.
@@Leo-hd5dz Yes genocide is part of ethnic cleansing. However S G says first 'riot' took place in 1986 - which is completely false - it was just one of the many pogroms that has been happening since the invasive culture entered Kashmir. This episode is nothing but half hearted monkey balancing as S G himself was part of building the narrative (as part of n d t v) where the oppressed were blamed for their own oppression and the perpetrators were propped up and humanized as victims! Not everyone is going to forget it...
Have made a few observations: 1. Shekhar Gupta keeps addressing Sheikh Abdullah as Sheikh 'sahab'. 2. He calls the Kashmiri Hindi genocide as 'exodus' and 'ethnic cleansing'. 3. He doesn't mention the release of 70 odd terrorists from prison by Farooq Abdullah and Rajiv Gandhi. One is free to draw their own conclusions. I've drawn mine.
3. they were released because they werent terrorists at the time and science had nt advanced to the level where it could accurately predict if someone would become a terrorist in future . i guess it hasnt still progressed to that level . they were arrested and tortured right after rigged elections of 1987 because they were the workers of Muslim United front and NC and congress coalition had rigged the elections . their arrest at the time was injustice and a slap on the democracy by NC congress coalition .
If anything, my respect for PM Narasimha Rao has only risen in the recent past. The last decent, nationalist Congress PM. And the way INC treated him shows how drastically they have fallen.

there are arguments saying so what..the Muslims also suffered, problem is Muslims were not targeted en masse because of their faith, suddenly they weren't told one day to convert leave or die. some suffered because of their ACTIONS (you decide by whom) not because of their EXISTENCE.
This movie impacted me to the core. I had to take a moment and reflect on how the pains of my own life fade away in comparison to Kashmiri Hindus. I did encourage my friends and family to buy tickets … asked them not to watch if they couldn’t handle the intensity- but purchase tickets to support the movie. This is a historical event.

15:15 Closing statement is prophetic. May be VP Singh govt was weak. May be BJP should have withdrawn support to VP Singh govt earlier. But had these been the main reasons for the ethnic cleansing, Kashmiri pandits would have felt safe to return by now. So these are not the real issue. Religious fundamentalism is the main issue. Let it be known to the people who are still in denial mode or indulging in whataboutery that this is not the moment for you to score political or brownie points. This moment is for the victims of that genocide & exodus. They have waited 32 long years for someone to tell their story in all it's raw form all the while when a certain PM of India & Kashmiri politician were hobnobbing with the terrorist perpetrators of the genocide. The heartfelt outpour by the KP community after watching "TKF" is testament to that. Apart from late Bal Thackeray, rest of Indian state has failed them for the three decades. So, stop with your propaganda and let Kashmiri Pandits have their moment of mourning in dignity.

But the movie is definitely not pro-BJP, islamophobic nor is it Anti-Muslim. It was as genuine and authentic any documentary could have been in its purest form.
BJP have never done anything for Kashmiri Pandits yet other than article 370 abrogation. This is good movie for Hindu awareness. No party can protect Hindus from Jihadis. Delhi Police was no where for 2 days, some people of community protected the mohallas by calling Jai Shri Ram whole night. If this can happen in capital then think about other part of India. I blame all able bodied Hindus who were present when Kashmiri pundit exodus/massacre happened. They allowed it took place and were okay with it. Many still are
In those days there was no social media, and not much private media. So the news didn't spread quickly and far and wide. Also most people of that generation were kind of gullible in politics and there was not much awareness of what's happening around and the politics behind it. Such incidents are highly unlikely to happen in today day and time.
Nope. Clearly there is a reason why there are no Upper castes who live in slums or do garbage collection jobs!! Their quality of life is no way equal. Fact. Don't know why some get nervous when we talk about this!! Just like as you said bro, every able bodied Non Upper caste hindus must spit in their own face for allowing these Upper castes to run over them for thousands of years. As someone who is from Lower caste I wish my forefathers had some spine.
Very carefully Shekhar did not use the term genocide. He did not elaborate on the fatwas which were given out against KPs and the content of it. Left the events of temples which were destroyed by terrorists. For a man who tells us that his journalism is different and represents the facts and comes up with his conclusion based on data he gives us only chronology of events without calling out who bungled up. When the truth is not palatable to the ecosystem reserve to highlighting the chronology and ask the audience to come with their own conclusion. Job well done. Hence irrespective of how much his ecosystem tries to present neutral journalism he will not have credibility.

The present Modi- Shah- Doval disposition are wiser from mistakes made by their predecessors. The Indian state has often embarrassed itself then and even now by concealing facts.
We should mark our words carefully when we say riots. Generally speaking riots happens if both sides are equally guilty in violence against each other. In Kashmir, Hindus didn't commit violence. In fact they didn't even defend themselves.
and SG called UNBIASD journalism but does exact opposite.....if the religions were exchanged SG would be all excited to present and of course bring BJP/RSS angle the genocide (yes then it would be called genocide and nothing less)

It is about time to do a biopic on narashina Rao, he fought the British with guns and brought economic reforms and had to play a difficult geopolitical game as a PM
Every situation tells us about the great work of Narasimha Rao as PM of India, Stooges of the Gandhi clan sabotaged him and prevented him from continuing the good rule he gave and brought the Gandhi clan and also paved the way for BJP to emerge more strongly. India will be blessed by dedicated South Indians as PM but that will not happen unless somehow BJP enables it or a coalition of regional parties bring some one of the caliber of Narasimha Rao to become the PM, The two PMs of great significance to India were Lal Bahadur Shastri and Narasimha Rao. PM Modi if he gives up the hard Hindutva elements of his party while embracing Hinduism accommodating the moderate elements of other religions, stressing the diversity of India as a boon and not a liability in terms of languages, cultures, traditions etc can be the best among all PMs. But it seems a great leap to ask of him to do that since in the Hindi heartland his extreme Hindutva seems to work and hence assures him of his needed majority without consideration of other areas of India, Unfortunately, this policy will only lead to dissention among Indians, Hope sanity prevails and Modi realizes the damage it does to India in the long run.

Sometimes I feel more that usual suspects it's the Kashmiris, all political parties and whole media are also responsible for that. And this topic is still a taboo and brushed under the carpet in many newsrooms. We all know this was purely hatred from one religion towards another. Thank you for the chronology.. very impressive . However I do not like with the summary that entire blame was put on VP Singh government instead of congress that was managing the show for past 40 years.
what is 40 years of majortity government compared to 2 1/2 of coalition government. The main thing is bjp was supporting the coalition. if they had done that congress would have ruled india that time too. just think of 2.5 years prime time kashmir punditsescaped from congress. should not pundits thank congress for that. Bjp did that.
It's simple. The muftis and Abdullahs were hand in glove with JKLF in the massacre. Congress was a spectator in order to save it's Muslim vote bank. There is no need to be diplomatic about it. Thanks to the removal of article 370, all of these have been moved aside. We just need to rehabilitate kashmiri pandits now and if resisted by any locals, send them to jail.
@Karen Wilson - and while we're at it let's discuss the violence perpetrated by Christians since year 0 or by white people in general over last 3000 years or by hindus since 4000 years.

Whatever is the chronology SG sir is discussing in here, bottom line is that this is the saddest part of our country. A total exodus of a minority community from a State is unbelievable because that Minority is Majority in the whole country. Simply unbelievable. I don't think this could ever happen in any country of the world. And sometimes I want to spit on myself because I am a Hindu. A backbone less community in the world. Still there are crores of these backbone less Hindus all around us who's never talk about this thing and blame others. Shame on us specially the Bengal State people who's elected again the next Mufti govt.
In the entire planet, there's only one community which dares to kill people very often even when it's in minority. Our political correctness is their strength.

The Muslim community in Kashmir have to take responsibility and show contrition for the atrocities they have committed directly or indirectly on the Kashmiri Pandits. If they continue to act like jihadis, they will soon become forgotten like the palestinians. Zindagi mein tarakki karna ho toh Panditonse mil julkar rehna padegaa.
There was a comparable event in Kerala in the 1920s which is now being recreated in film-no less than 5 movies are planned on the "Mapla Lahala" of 1921. Interpretations put on it depend on one's political position. It is seen variously as a rebellion against the British Raj, an agrarian revolt, or-and this is where the parallel to Kashmir Pandits is drawn-an anti-Hindu riot. Would be useful to have a non-partisan view of this long-neglected incident.

After seeing the files in Kashmir, the real question or reaction should be - does a peaceful Muslim make a neighbor a perpetrator of violence or a mute spectator of such blatant violence. Finding the answer will save humanity and India. All journalists & intellectuals- Pl explore the subject
Finally, the Kashmir files has succeeded in uncovering the truths that were brushed under the carpet for so long. The role of Indira Gandhi and Rajeev Gandhi in creating and exacerbating the Kashmir problem is finally being acknowledged. Before this the only Indian journalists to have openly written about this was Tavleen Singh with self-styled "historians" like Ram Chandra Guha .and Vir Sanghvi carefully brushing it under the carpet. I was in Kashmir in 1988 and even a 25 year old political noob like me could see that the place is going to explode soon with Shikarawallas talking about expelling the Pandits and "keeping" their women and property which is exactly what the film shows. Finally, our late PM PV Narasimha Rao gets some credit for restoring the valley to a state where elections could be held. That old man inherited a country that was in a total mess economically and politically and managed to turn things around and in return , post his death his body was not allowed to be cremated in Delhi by the widow of the same man who was responsible for a lot of this mess ! Great that Narendra Modi finally got rid of article 370 . The Gandhi family supporters should Pinder over this and ask themselves if they are worshipping false idols ...

Congratulations on this most confounding de-clutter of chronology of ethnic cleansing of the minority (Hindus) in Kashmir valley. Now coming to the situation in January 1990, when Hindus were killed mercilessly and indiscriminately leading to their mass exodus, it was created due to system failure all the years since partition. I watched the film yesterday and man! it was good. I was worried about whether the pain and sorrow of the KPs was being used as a propaganda for the benefit of BJP. But the movie is definitely not pro-BJP, islamophobic nor is it Anti-Muslim. It was as genuine and authentic any documentary could have been in its purest form.
How is it not pro BJP, could you explain please? Did they blame the BJP government who was partially responsible for this?
BJP have never done anything for Kashmiri Pandits yet other than article 370 abrogation. This is good movie for Hindu awareness. No party can protect Hindus from Jihadis. Delhi Police was no where for 2 days, some people of community protected the mohallas by calling Jai Shri Ram whole night. If this can happen in capital then think about other part of India. I can imagine what could have happened to 5% hindu minority in Kashmir. We need to be powerful. How they are misguided by dogmatic ,misinterpreted principles, brainwashed by enemy countries, and achieve nothing for themselves, while destroying peace, happiness, hopes and wishes of the communities including their own!!!

Not a single scene or dialogue s fiction. And the songs in background deeply imprints the tragedy.

Kashmiri pandit and kashmiri ex pandits (fake arab)
Are same people all these wani , guru , kaul ,pandit, butt or bhatt and dhar ,kachru these are pandit guys who got misguided to fake arabic identity . High time all kashmiri come back to their roots and orignal identity and become human again . If all become pandit again there is no kashmir issue , if entire pakistan comes back to hinduism we are all good and free from jihadi terrorists . Come back to hinduism all you misguided souls . End your identity crisis .
was just about to say that it was deja vu coz I remember listening to this just before covid broke out - then saw the episode number and I was correct :)
Beware! Whoever is cruel and harsh to a non-Muslim minority, curtailing their rights, overburdening them,or stealing from them,i will complain (to Allah/Creator) about that person on the Day of Judgement."
- Prophet Muhammad{pbuh} (Hadith Abu Dawud,3052)
Congratulations on this most confounding de-clutter of chronology of ethnic cleansing of the minority (Hindus) in Kashmir valley. PLIGHT is not the proper word to describe the barbaric atrocities to which Pandits were systematically subjected to. Pandits are barely mentioned while VP Singh, Jagmohan etc get all the mentioning.
P. S. Your careful, conspiratorial conflation of Ram Mandir movement (which was yet to find it's feet till 1989) is the most ingenious insinuation.
What else did you expect from a glib talker from the lutyens camp?
Well mr shekar u are speaking about this issue after long time, with seemingly considerable difficulty.
It's funny he keeps advising to draw our own conclusions despite clearly highlighting the most obvious motivation for the genocide. Islamism. If you're not going to acknowledge the real truth and resort to pulling punches out of fear of inciting violent reactions, then you're being disingenuous. Truth should always prevail. Covering things up will lead to explosive and irreversible damage
15:26 Destiny did settle it's score when Indian Army came into picture n karma hit back those who were silent during the cleansing
for all the things that PVN did for this nation - liberalization, handling rath yathra, bringing punjab and kashmir under control ... he is not as celebrated by Congress or even rest of the nation as much. quite sad! He was also a learned and decent man.
How conveniently SG leaves
1. Kashimir Hindus meeting Guru Teg Bahadur to save .
2. How Dogra rule saved Hindus
3. 1931 riots
4. 1950 land act to occupy Hindus land and Hindus start exodus.
is it ignorance or careful omission.
There are those would blame A, B, C, for it ....Smartly left out BJP, who was tied up with VP Singh back then 🤣
"The amount of national attention and support the Kashmiri Pandits have received since the movie release is so massive, that I am sure it would help them in healing fast and they must be already packing their bags to go home."
"little bit of islamisation" when it was full of it. Have, if you have no, a heart & conscience. Being a journalist, as claimed by you, you must be truthful. Even Truth is a word unknown to you.
