Mads-these videos are wonderful and so helpful. I just discovered them and all the other ones on your UA-cam channel. So much to go through. I have been thinking of returning to Iceland and spending more time there, and these videos will help me prepare. Thanks for all the work you have done to produce and share these with everyone.
I'll be doing a workshop in Iceland in December 1-9, 2022. Thank you of this video series as I'm using them to get ready for a once in a lifetime photography trip. Thank you!
Absolutely incredible images! I've been following you on Instagram and Twitter for a while but have just subscribed to your channel. I'm binging your wonderful videos of Iceland, full of information, details, gorgeous images and seals too. I especially love the ice on the beach which look like sparking diamonds upon the seascape, so magical ✨
While preparing for a trip to Iceland this May, I've watched dozens of videos. I think this is one of the best, and I plan to watch many (or all) of your other "photographing Iceland" videos. Thanks very much for sharing your experience and your expertise.
Just discovered your channel....I’m very far away in Western Australia and have always wanted to visit Iceland, your videos have now helped put that trip firmly on my to do list. Thank you!
I appreciate all your videos Mads. My son and I are headed to Iceland in June and we now feel we know each spot we want to visit - thanks to your videos.
Very nice job on this series. I just got back from Iceland 3 weeks ago and shot many of these locations. Wonderful trip and yes, there were LOTS of tourists and photographers! Thanks for these videos.
You are a gem, Mads! Love everything about your videos, really informative, really enjoyable and your photos are beyond stunning! So happy to have found your channel!
well done. Absolutely amazing images and great tips! Love your work. Will be travelling to iceland next september from the 1st until the 10th. So excited!!
U ARE AMAZING!!!! HONESTLY... I'D NEVER SEEN VIDEOS LIKE YOURS... SIMPLY AMAZING... I'M LITTERALLY CRING WATCHING THIS STUNNIG LANDSCAPES AND PHOTOS... ONLY WOW
Fantastic series, Mr. Iversen! Thank you for sharing!!! I'm heading to Iceland in less than a week, and though I have a google map pinned with all the places I'd like to go, this really helps to let people know what to expect on the journey there. Your photography is incredibly beautiful, and the tips are very much appreciated!
thanks for the video, I can attest that it is not easy to photograph here... I was here for an evening and morning and was pouring the whole time with varying intensity...
Great video, Mads! We're going to try for aurora/star shots at the lagoon super early in the morning before the moon comes up next week (weather permitting). Would you recommend using light painting to illuminate the foreground smaller icebergs a bit, or wait for the moon to just rise above the horizon and illuminate the landscape? The (not ideal) waning crescent moon rises at about 5am on the two days we are there. We are planning on scouting some good night locations during the day, but of course the ice will move a lot.
Exactly. The Ice moves. In my experience the moon does a better job at lighting the landscape. I don't know exactly how waning the moon is at that point though. The problem with lightpainting is you'll only light the nearest icebergs and those in the background stays dark, which doesn't look good in my opinion.
Thanks for the tip! I have a fairly powerful flashlight, but I see what you are saying about the background icebergs staying dark, and how that would look strange. Sounds like trying for a bit of moonlight is the way to go. You might have just saved us some wasted effort! ;)
Hello. I love your vlog and ideias for the shots. Very useful tips about how to get to the place you are talking about. I noticed that on your reference to the gear used on the shots you say that you use a 16-35mm f/4 canon lens. But when you explained what focal lens, shutter speed, f-stop, etc. You refere in some of the pictures that you used 16 or 35 mm focal lens with an f/2.8. What is the correct reference for the canon lens 16-35mm f/4 or f/2.8? Thanks a lot
Tak Jonas, ja det er der. Det kan variere lidt afhængigt af om der er brækket noget af, men hvis det skulle ske der ikke er så kom tilbage dagen efter. Det der kommer smelter selvsagt også hurtigere om sommeren ;)
Are there any laws about flying drones in Iceland? It seems like you can fly it wherever you'd like, which is really nice. In the Untied States, the government has made it illegal in all of the National Parks and many other places.
Brian Kirby as far as I've read the main law is to not be a jackass with your drone. There's a few articles about it, but overall you can fly almost everywhere :)
Mads Peter Iversen common sense laws are the best kind! It would never work here, but that's really cool you are able to get these great shots. Keep up the fantastic work!

Combining the aurora and the ice in the same composition was fantastic.
Thank you very much Alan! :)

great videos! Thank you . Did you use ND filters for the pictures at the lagoon?

No problem, I'd suggest trying out both and see what works the best :)
Hi Mads
Have you seen the firework show they have at Jökulsárlón in August every year? I highly recommend it
Sadly not no, but I would love to :)
Hello.
I love your vlog and ideias for the shots. Very useful tips about how to get to the place you are talking about.

What is the correct reference for the canon lens 16-35mm f/4 or f/2.8? Thanks a lot
André Gomes that's because I owned a 16-35mm f/2.8 and a Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8. But they're no longer a part of my lens line up ;)
Fantastisk flot video Mads.
Mads Peter Iversen Tak for svaret😃
Ace..
Which SIRUI tripod do you use?? Im looking for a 2204X, but not quite sure yet. Any recommendations?? Thanks!
I'm using the Sirui t-2205x, it's lightweight and sturdy, but it feels very slow to use.
What was that swimming half way out at 3.38. A seal?
It was indeed :)
Spared
Can you access these beaches in January?
Yup, all year round.
