Haven't you ever wondered why you can't find a square corner in a new house? Why any decent inspection will come up with a twenty page punch list on any commercial construction? 1/3 of the price of a newly-constructed house is construction, at most. 1/3 (to 80%, in some regions) is permits, and 1/3 is financing of the construction -- the profit the bank that fronted construction costs makes, when the new home sells. I know that from the inside, those figures are beyond dispute. Are you one of those who thinks labor is inferior, not human, and has no cause for pride? @@vnc.t He might have supplied the metal.
They got the money back in marketing capital in this video. Literally what it was purchased for.
If you don't ask you with never know... And if you ask for more then you really want you can always bring it back to what you want or replace it with something more absurd and they go for what you originally wanted.
8:54 is this a thing ya'll always do that I'm just now noticing? Thank you for bleeping "hey google" or whatever, that's some next-level give-a-fuck
One thing I would enjoy seeing, a video of all the tech upgrade recipients detailing what they have used the most from their upgrades.
As someone who can talk themselves into buying a certain piece of tech, I’d find it helpful hearing testimony from people who’ve had $5k to blow on what they ACTUALLY used the most.
Not gonna lie, even with the absurd pricetag, I would preorder the wood & brass screwdriver so fast. It would fit with my other hand tools perfectly, and I love how elegant the design looks in those materials.
Yeah, I would love it because it would match with my great-great grandfather's tools . . . but someone stole those seventeen years ago, so it would look completely out-of-place with my Harbor Freight replacements.
Legitimately probably could offer them in batches of like 10-15 and make decent sales probably for a couple years at least and marketing it as an "heirloom" tool
@@krazylegswp yeah, I could see them easily selling a limited run of 100 pretty easily, especially if they're serialized.
If your tools are more pricey than your daughter's tuition, you're the tool.
@@syrupybrandy2788 Depends . . . are your tools how that tuition gets paid? How the mortgage is made? What puts food on the table?
_Workers_ may use the company tools, or own their own. _Craftsmen_ have the set they use for everyday jobs, and a set they use for labors of love -- the stuff they come up with to remind them of why they do the job they do -- because employers won't pay them to take the time to take the care to demonstrate their real skills.
Then, you are exactly why a laborer becomes a craftsman, and accumulates the best tools he can find as his own.
I may swing a hammer, but it's an Estwing.
Never seen Linus approve of an employees space so hard. This guy wins
dude thats literally the most perfect room out of all the AMD upgrades, love u linus
Yeah, don't lose this guy. He's definitely a cut above most. This episode was bizarre in the best way possible.
idk if you’ll ever see this but 3:00 for the silicone bit holders I actually really do like that idea. it’s light weight and you could have multiple and easily make a keychain attachment, although i think it would be more beneficial in construction, more specifically for drill bits rather than a screwdriver kit.
defo one of the coolest perks of manufacturing jobs is being able to work on personal projects, within reason, scrap material, no other prority work. its generally a good thing especially for those developing their skills.
It's cool to see Linus GENUINELY IMPRESSED by everything, like a kid in a store. I love the positive vibes!
21:16 As someone interested in Framework. I feel the need to point out here that most things are open source, at least to some degree. Firmware, mainboard schematics, expansion cards. If Framework doesn't commit 5 years to it, then there's a possibility of it still being supported in some form or another.
I think the support he was worried about, is if they'll still be releasing new motherboards that fit into that particular chassis in five years.
@@kadupse Framework laptops are more expensive simply because they're a very small company (compared to Asus, Dell, Lenovo...) and they cannot have interesting contracts for a lot of parts like Intel/AMD CPUs, Qualcomm modems, HDMI licences, and a lot of other parts...
If framework is asking for a lower price the part manufacturer can simply say no, it's not a big loss for them. If Asus or Dell is asking they will certainly have a lower price because of the big pressure they have.
If Framework have long term support it's nice to have, but it is not the main reason why they are more expensive.
Because if they dont support the same chassis you could still 3d your own chassis for it easily with the released documents
@kadupse ridiculous, sure maybe. Unusable no. Use the right filament, and it would be fine. I've 3D printed a case for my old framework main board and gave it to my younger cousin so she has a computer.
This was great.
You guys need to make a channel for the creators warehouse like you mentioned in one of the recent Wan shows. Would love to see people like Sebastian creating some of the things you showed in this video.
I love the long chamfer on the desktop, I often see wooden tops with a chamfer at the edge to make them look thinner, but the chamfer is always so steep that you can just instantly see how thick the wood really is.
"We didn't think it'd get approved" made me giggle. Cheers, mate.
I wonder if they had another project that they wanted to do and they sent this one in first to soften the blow?
2:31 Why is this not a thing - you could've called it the limp bits kit 🤣
That's genius! They should do it just for the name alone
@@fluffyfloof9267 this NEEDS more upvotes!!!
the 1000$ on the herman miller chair is by far the best upgrade he could have done
my herman miller embody healed all the neck, lower back and shoulder pain I had with my gaming chair
tbf tho, i spent 180 on a decent office chair which did the same thing. nobody with half a brain expects a "gaming" chair to be comfortable..
A good office chair from herman miller, haworth, or steelcase is always a better buy than gaming chairs. You can always buy used for huge discounts too.
@@mindurbusiness-b3u It’s really not the same. A steelcase leap or herman miller aeron are worth buying, new or used, over the basic Costco option. I know from experience.
@@JollyGiant19 That's marketing working for you.
At the 1000/1500/2000$ range you are most definitely (over) paying for the brand.
Plenty of perfectly good ergonomic chairs that cost 200/300/500$ that will perform just as good for your health
And often less expensive with how often used ones pop up if you live in a decent sized city….with their build quality it’s not hard to find/make one look brand new
11:05 that thing looks really cool. Would be nice to see a limited run made from defective screwdrivers
This is actually the best upgrade!!!
The guy it's so atentif to details.
Practical things he taught. Everything.
And I like the touch of wood and electronics in the same house. 😊😊
12:55 Satisfactory mentioned, Ficsit approves the video
A very efficient pioneer!
Wouldnt surprise me if people from Coffee Stain Studios see this video
FICSIT rewards your accomplishments with a micro-break... - hope you enjoyed it. Get back to work!
I have a 75 year old neighbour that I admire greatly for his creativity and sheer craft making abilities (as an engineer myself) who is just like Sebastian. Ozy was an art lecturer (who has been credited by some very high up Hollywood animated film producers for teaching and mentoring them) but secretly also an engineer and inventor. His house is utterly stunning and workshop a thing of beauty with laves, pillar drills, welders and tools impeccably arranged in the most logical way I could deem possible. Sebastian gives me his vibes and to say that is a huge compliment. Keep this guy in your business for as long as you can Linus!
The fact that LTT is working on electronics cables is very exciting! Hopefully you'll make more than just charging cables and HDMI cables, because no one makes good audio/headphone cables.
Ah, yes; I miss Radio Shack. Their store-brand audio components, especially wires, headphones, and speakers at the high-end, just can't be replaced. No comparison.
My only concern seeing that chonky cable is if the added weight will put strain on the connectors device-side
@@Innuya They'll probably make a less chunky, less secure, but still great version in the future as well. I would love to get me some very high quality and performant cables, I guess I'll wait for them to come out and for a free shipping to Europe event or something.
@@Innuya that cable is only for someone who want absolute performance...including myself LOL...most people gonna use flat small cheap cat5e/6 ethernet cable for their home system....because you not really gonna get more performance to off set the cost...but I use chunkiest cat8 just for the best LOL..I just want ultimate freedom for the electron to move around without interferences(shielding contribute the most to the chunkiness)
@@LeeMooEez that's a USB-C cable dude lol not ethernet
No kidding, this guy is my favourite person at LMG. I don't know how specifically, but you guys need to figure out a way to make his talent shine on camera.
That man is a genius! I've never seen someone with such fine ideas to fix things like him, thats a gem of brain right there.
11:55 turning a mistake into an accent is the sign of a great maker. Bravo!
This guy should be included for the design side of the upgrades in Linus' house.

"I've been working with 3d printers for like 15 years."
Me - No way bro, they haven't been around that long. That was like 2002!!!
The sudden realization 😥😥😥😥😥
3d printing tech actually dates back to the 1980s
@@somdudewillson The Strasys patent for FDM expired in 2009 - which is why it was only then more people started getting into 3D printing.
So being in the space for about 15 years is basically working with printers from the very start of DIY (and all other cheaper ones).
@@oplik0 lol like the Chinese care about patents...
@@oplik0 FDM is not the only 3d printing tech - and "working with 3d printers" =/= "working with consumer 3d printers".
@@somdudewillson Glad to see others who know this! SLA dates back as early as 1986 (development started in 1983), SLS dates back as early as 1987. Giant defence companies (primarily Dassault Systemes & Dassault Aviation) started using them to make parts that just couldn't be traditionally machined. The machines were make by a company called Sakura from Japan. Stratasys dominated industrial FDM from 1981.
That screwdriver needs it's own museum.
11:20 Andy's UTU will always be there to remember Linus that he is capable of break anything if he really try, and also triggers David memory about that bed and it has been 3 years now!
I loved all the AMD Upgrades so far, but this is by waaaay my favorite! Probably I feel so connected to the Flat, it's small, you have lot of stuff (and plants) and also want it to be look pretty and not chaotic. Also the love to the Detail Sebastian put into everything, just love it!
I'm only halfway through the upgrade but this is definitely the coolest upgrade!! As a designer myself, really love all the projects going on with this one!
I bet you'd sell more of those $300 screwdrivers than you think. This is probably the best tech upgrade you've done, this is so much fun.
Truth told, he knows. He mentioned on a Wan Show that he felt it was a bit tone deaf to sell a luxury screwdriver while the tech industry is contracting. But hopefully things will level out and we'll get to see it come to market. 👍
Make that bit holder into a bracelet. Add a magnetic surface for screws and it will sell in masses.
Oh, make it one layer only and longer, and the bracelet would be actually great. I'm not sure how they would add the magnetic pieces but it is a great idea
@@LPR44 My idea would be a small but strong Neodymium magnet under a thin (curved for wear confort) ferromagnetic metal plate. Which metal doesn't matter or more could be an option like a colorway. But I think copper could be too malleable over time.
There might be an issue with strong magnets on your wrist if you work around sensitive electronics
@@ChiefArug not every product is for everyone, if you're that worried about cross-magnetization, you wouldn't want any magnetic screw storage to begin with
You could maybe release the metal and inside plastic parts as a kit for people who does woodturning and let them make the wooden part. Then you can have a screwdriver that pretty without that expensive cost, but you have to do some work to turn the handle after some critical measurments so it all fits.
This is a great idea. DIY screwdriver!
I like that. I could do that.
you know what, LTT staffs adventures with small engineering projects like these should be the ideabase of every LTT merch. i mean that bottom curved desk and that satisfying tension frame, god i want those...
Linus is very lucky to have Sebastian on the LMG team all of the ideas in this video are awesome. He is very good at what he does specially for his age.
24:43 Linus making that noise after the cube making that sound is funny af ahahahaha
That noise was wiiiiild lmao
7:07 NEEDS TO BE A PRODUCT
Honestly, what a cool guy! I'm glad he got an upgrade :D
Having cookware out in the open for dirt and grime to lay on it, so you have to wash it before you use it - SENSIBLE
but otherwise totally love the decor and the space saving engineering ❤
For the bit holder, to make it more solid; a printed cap to slide the silicone into.
A simple *L*-trim around the edge, to seat into.
I'd probably leave through-hole(s), so the bits can still slide in, or be pushed, either way.
And make sure it's both thick enough, and made of an impact resistant plastic, as to not just snap
Please make that screwdriver available. I’m serious.
If they made it a product I would've try to save ut and bye one for my dad
this is literally why they showed it. It was a float to gauge interest. I'm betting in a month or so it goes up as a limited hooha for that very specific $300 price.
That oversized precision driver would be sweet to own!
The big one?

18:24 that speech about UPS's is so true, when I got my computer 6 yers ago it was giving my bluescreen a loot, like 3 times a month, but when I got in my hands a 650W UPS it just stops. its been good for over 4 years now
You might be due for a battery swap depending on the battery chemistry
a relative of mine has a house, every laptop ever charged there lost its battery, he added a ups, the laptops charging through the ups survived but then... the ups's battery died
I have had a UPS from the 90's since my grandpa died in 2001 myself. The batteries have been long dead BUT the fgact it is a UPS means that the power coming from it is better then whatever comes from the wall outlet in the house I am in. I need a couple hundred for a replacement UPS at this point and yeah its going to take some time to get that cash around for a purchase like that on only $900 or so a month when rent is $500-$600 a month for me and the rest of the money goes towards things like FOOD for the rest of the month
Absolutely the best upgrade in a long time. So sensible but also incredibly thought out and minimal. Love it.

One of my favourite AMD builds, just shows that Sebastian is one of the most intelligent and individual people working for Linus, loved everything about his upgrade especially his uniqueness...very simple and elegant.🤩
The fact that Linus is monetizing stolen items/machine time whatever from the office is just genius. He just turn expenses into profit. Amazing.
