    Been learning how to minaturise a speaker box and come to conclusion i need to use your latest video to get big sound from a small form factor, i want to move as much air and sound clean on a budget.
    2×5" inch tweeter
    2×10" inch mid
    2×10" inch long throw
    4×8" passive rads
    All in separate chambers but run in a stereo configuration 2×1000w class d amp but set to 500 for low thd.

    Great Job on the build!!! On recording the demos, you might want to keep the front of the speakers and your mic away from flat surfaces like that table. Move the Jambox to the front edge of the table and get the Zoom mic on a stand in front of it. That table is definitely adding some mess to your demo.

    The first good portable speaker build on whole youtube.
    I really enjoyed it.
    How did you came up with the idea of using the dsp to fix portable design problems?
    That was good.
    Room for improvement: built-in charge circuit and a relay for power button.

    Really nice build there. A bit overkill maybe 😀
    Loved your Udemy courses. I would like to get another course where you show how/what happens with side/rear/downfiring woofers as well as rear mounted extra tweeters, when it comes to how to build XO and box/measure etc.
    Maybe also compare a normally built (rectangular) loudspeaker with a similar loudspeaker, except that it has modifications for standing waves (on the inside). Is that a possibility in the future?
    Maybe also a UA-cam video with your favourit elements and reason why. That would be hilarious!
    Keep it up!

    I don't know if you know this or not, so if you do then you can ignore this... But I notice you are making an EQ adjustment, recording a new response curve and then adjusting again... Rinse and repeat. This is unnecessary, as REW has the ability to create an EQ file based on the measured response curve and will use the right number of EQ bands for your specific model of MINIDSP unit. You can then directly import this EQ preset using the "Import REW file" in the MINIDSP software. Doing this can save a ton of time and headache from listening to frequency sweeps every 2 minutes!

    • @AudioJudgement
      @AudioJudgement  3 роки тому +1

      You are right. I forgot that minidsp is in collaboration with REW and has this function. I'm going to check it out next time.

    Hey, just askin for some help. Iv newly built a bluetooth speaker. But i have a problem of a high pitch sound coming out of the speakers when i turn it on. Im using a battery plugged into a boost converter with a switch between. The audio signal comes from a bluetooth module. The signal then goes into a preamp and then into the amp. When i plug the audio cable out of the preamp the sound stops, so its the preamp, however i tested it earlier by taking it out and testing it seperatly. No noise then. So its the preamp. If i add a isolation module before its power cable will that fix the problem? And what is the problem? Can anyone help. Sorry for bad english, its not my strongest subject.

    Nice! Few things I want to add. This speaker cost around 1300...1500 depends your hourly rate and materials,rent/electricity been used :)
    Some advice.
    Use more clamps for this type of glue please and apply to both sides.
    Avoid silicon especially on bare MDF. Try to avoid gloss paint it's every time bad and cheap unless its absolutely perfect. Next time if you (really really really must/want) to paint gloss use fine grit sandpaper between each coating and final polish with autopolish disc .
    To avoid such hassle above simply buy satin or matt paint.
    Also noticed over sanding bottom edge :) hope this was just table :)

    • @AudioJudgement
      @AudioJudgement  3 роки тому +1

      I find that silicone works great for sealing the ports to the box. If you have an alternative I would be happy to hear it. Having nothing there and just using screws, usually translates into noise. And yeah, I suck at painting, plus there are only romanian paints available on the market which are mediocre at best . So I can take any advice in that category, thanks.

      @@AudioJudgement for painting, LOTS of primer and sanding. prime, sand, prime, sand, prime, sand, prime, sand, then, when its finally PERFECT, (feel the box with your hands for any dips, highs, or roughness, 320 grit DA, or 600 grit wetsand before paint. if there are major defects that primer alone wont remove, plastic bodyfiller (sold at automotive paint supply) is great. its often called by a brand name "Bondo".
      edit: and if you do find an autobody supply store, try some of their paint. its likely better than anything else you can find.

    What disadvantages of using the DSP are there? It seems like such a better way to crossover than the traditional method.

    • @clementc7297
      @clementc7297 3 роки тому +1

      You can also tune for phase linearity. You can even tune your room with dirc life. There is no way I am going back traditional crossovers. It's stone age

    • @AudioJudgement
      @AudioJudgement  3 роки тому +1

      It’s much easier but you need an extra amplifier. Actually, you need as many amplifier channels as the number of speakers you have

    • @hibahprice6887
      @hibahprice6887 3 роки тому

      DSP processor is much better than crossovers .. It's like comparing a relay computer and a modern computer)
      Digital audio processing at 96 kilohertz or even higher .. different dsp can be different things .. but you can at least configure 4-8 analog outputs, in different ways, digital outputs are even more .. huge potential. You can level the frequency response as you like, shift the phases, and even apply 3d effects, any purchased (good) acoustics has a DSP on board. That is why such small JBLs sound so good, even though they have ordinary speakers, a copy of which can be found on aliexpress ..

    Is the design of the case chosen based on the parameters of Thiele Small?

    • @AudioJudgement
      @AudioJudgement  3 роки тому

      Yes. Ideally, the box should have been a bit smaller as the drivers have a very low qts. However, there wouldn’t be enough room to fit all the stuff inside. Nevertheless, it still performs great, as you can see from the frequency response chart

      @@AudioJudgement Was it possible to make not a phase inverter, but passive resonators?

    • @AudioJudgement
      @AudioJudgement  3 роки тому

      Yes you can use passive radiators, but I didn’t found any with sufficient excursion to serve these woofers. I needed larger ones, and in that case the box would be larger.

  • @rhalfik
    @rhalfik Рік тому

    The frame in front is a torture to my eyes. To anyone wanting to copy this build, do not copy this feature. What you should do instead: shave the protrusions flat with the baffle. Leave just the corners. Then bend the perforated metal. The protruding corners will hide the seams, but the enclosure will not affect the dispersion that much. The reason why the frequency response is so uneven in this project is exactly because of these protruding edges. Marcus for some reason decided to place the drivers in a duct. Even after filtering, the response is trashy off axis, which we didn't get to see here. I know it's not an ambitious project, because it's just a boombox, however I'm just letting you know, that it can be made better.

    No bass in the recording, highpass cutoff from around 80Hz. Listening on headphone, checked with spectrum analyser. Sooo, what's the deal? It looks great btw. Also you don't need the antenna to put on the exterior, wood is not shielding the BT module.

    • @dtibor5903
      @dtibor5903 3 роки тому +1

      Oh, I see, you put a highpass filter, and you made flat response. Boomboxes are not for flat reponse 😅 add +20 db to 60-80 hz

    • @AudioJudgement
      @AudioJudgement  3 роки тому

      Yeah, you can check the anechoic frequency response at the end. It rolls off at 80 Hz. Regarding the antenna, in my experience,10 mm thick MDF reduces signal strength significantly. 6 mm does not.
