Thanks for watching RWood Outdoors!
Does it cast out pretty good and far?? I’m really digging the setup, and also did you piece them together or did you buy the reel, and pole together as a combo. Thank you!
Yes, I use this rig when I need to make a longer cast. The trick is getting the weight of your bait just right to really launch it. To heavy or too light of a bait loses lots of distance. I purchased the rod and reel separately.
Hey what model star rod is this ?
Stellar 10'0". SG1530S10
Do you think a saragossa 8k would get the job done or would i need something bigger?
Probably will be ok, but depends on how far your drop is. If you are already down 200 yds before the shark picks it up, might be tough to stop a good fish before the bottom of the spool. That being said you don't need to do long drops. Sharks are right in the shorebreak many times.
@@RWoodOutdoors Thank you,i think I’ll play it safe a get a 14k at least.
I use an 6000 size reel and it hasn’t failed be yet when in doubt go down to a smaller braid size like 50 pound or 40 pound and u get more line, just fight the shark smart. I have landed makos on 40 pound line after a 2 hour fight before on small jigging conventional reels probably only had 800 yards of line on it, u can land a bull shark or black tip Easley on a 8000 size reel in Florida, Basil’s anything under that 7 foot mark.
