So many videos focusing on rods, and reels. Some of the really important details aren’t talked about. Good stuff !
Thanks so much!
The good stuff. Thanks for the vodeo.
Of course brotha!!
love you guys but 1 question you are using hallow core braid why dont you guys utilize splices i.e why tie a knot to the spool instead of splicing a loop in the same manner or splice in the top shot instead of fg
Best connection is the splice but the fg serves its purpose and 200lb braid and mono has so much to give as far as connection knots go.
Fg is great and very fast- held on so so many big sharks with so much pressure.
Best connection hollowcore splice- most time and effective fg knot
no need for backing? i’m deciding on putting backing or not on my avet 50 exw. Some say to put electrical tape to keep it from slipping but idk about all that.
There is no need- two great whites- tons of big tigers and hammers. All with no issue. Do what we did here and you are good! No need for tape!
i just got a shark reel and was wondering if you have to have the clamps attaching the rod and reel toghter or if you did not need them? i love yor chanel btw!!!!
We use the reel clamp that goes on the reel foot for sure always. But some reels have like extra bracing on the front and back- that is not needed
@@CoastalWorldwide1 recently i've been thinking, since there is no way i'll be putting close to 200lbs of stress on the line or maybe even 100lbs for that matter why don't i just spool up with lighter braid and fit way more on an even smaller less expensive reel? if there's not chance of snapping braid that strong then why not go smaller? even using lighter maxcuatro braid would seem to easily fit 3000 yards on reel that arent even that big. Am i missing something?
@@7michael7getachew7 because it’s not about putting 100lb of drag- fishing the beach with braid can be highly abusive on the line. Shells- sand ect all causes a factor in weakening braid.
40-50-60lbs of drag on braid that constantly rubs on bottom is on par- I see where you are coming from experience will be the best teacher
What knot are y’all using on the 200lb mono I’ve been using a uni on mine and I’m debating on just crimping it
If you are asking my about the knot from mainline to the leader- we use a uni know yes
What gauge do you use to set your drag by chance.
Digital crane scale on Amazon
My brother and I recently retired and want to catch sharks from the beach. It’s the dream. I want to get them in quick enough that they don’t die from a long drug out fight. We plan on fishing somewhere in the panhandle. Any minimum reel type or size?
50w reel size minimum- plastic reels and shark fishing don’t mix. If it’s summer I would go with an 80w and 200lb braid to avoid hooking a hammer and not being able to handle it
If you guys had to recommend the best 130 what would it be? I’ve been hearing horror stories about 130 avets locking up
Okuma all the way!
@@CoastalWorldwide1 you guys are the best ordering it rn
@@gavincirolli3158 epic!!!
Have you ever long casted from the beach for sharks with a conventional reel? If so, what is the largest mono that gets it done and casts 100 yds as top shot?I am spooling up an avet hxj 5/2 magic cast raptor with braid backing.
Nah we don’t need to long cast here 20-50 yards for our gut to catch them on cast out! 🤘
@@CoastalWorldwide1 are you using mono? If so, what weight?
@@micahlowbe9067 yes topshot 200-250 lb
We don’t use more than 50 yards or so
@@CoastalWorldwide1 so, when you do cast, you are casting 150lb -200lb mono?
@@micahlowbe9067 when we use cast out setups we use straight 65lb braid- the heavy stuff is kayak only
no electrical tape on the bottom of the spool?
No need with a good knot!
Little did you know you’d be catching bluefin in less that a year!
That’s true!
what length rainshadow blank?
This rod was 7ft 6
@@CoastalWorldwide1 ok thanks
Is that same knot from team hardlife
Not sure- never seen there stuff
It’s not Team hard life’s knot.. aka hard life’s bait and tackle in Corpus Christi…..aka Albert Zertuche calls it the anaconda knot. He does like 8-10 wraps around the spool then splices it back onto itself. It creates a knot the continues to tighten no matter what thus the name. He has a great UA-cam channel he goes over the knot look up team hard life’s UA-cam channel.
looks alot like that blue mono yall pulled up from that hang up lol busted
We don’t run more than 50 yards- bunch on there 🤘
What a fat combo that's tuff as fuck!
She is nasty for sure
