The 11” screen is hardly a reason to get the new Crosstrek. The removal of physical AC controls is a terrible decision on Subaru’s part. If safety is such a big concern of theirs why are they giving you more reasons to take your eyes off the road? We all know this is just a cost-saving measure on their part.

I have owned Subaru cars from the 1980 era Legacy wagon to my 2023 Crosstrek (my 5th Subaru). I have noticed that the first year of a new generation is a work in progress and subsequent model years contain refinements that work out the bugs uncovered from real world driving experiences. I do like the electronic parking brake addition to the 2024 ( loved that feature on my 2011 Outback). My wish list for all future models would be the fold away cross bars on the roof rack, currently found on Outback’s. Makes for a sleeker appearance and less wind resistance when not needed.

  • @skyaker8241

I just traded in my beloved 2014 Crosstrek MT for a very low mileage used 2023 Limited. I've mourned the loss of the tight, responsive drive of my 2014 ever since. I can only describe the handling of the 2023 as loose. It definitely does not hold a high-speed curve like my 2014! Now driving feels more like work, instead of pleasure. I've never bought used before, but did NOT want the giant touchscreen without tactile AC control knobs on the 2024. I had to take my 2023 in for a slight issue last week, and was given a loaner--a brand new 2024 Crosstrek Premium with only 5 miles on it! I drove it easy, respecting the fact that it was not broken in, but here are my impressions: It was smooth! The transmission was incredibly quiet and smooth, and the ride was, as well, even when hitting a couple of rough patched areas. The steering was much tighter, and very responsive on curves. Stiffer chassis made it a joy to drive. The upgraded noise dampening was a super-plus. But now, the absolute deal-breaker for me: The huge touchscreen! Trying to adjust the AC/Heat on a typical mountain Spring day, was a nightmare. The fact that the controls are on the bottom of the screen made it even worse--it's a long way from where our eyes are supposed to be (on the road!) to the bottom of that huge screen. What on earth, Subaru?? What has happened to your once-famous claim to safety? To sum it up, I was thrilled to get my 2023 back, looser drive and all. I will baby this car and try to make it last. Unless Subaru wakes up and changes the screen issue, my next car will, sadly, not be another Subaru. Just my 2 cents!

Less expensive to fix. 4 tires, a clutch and a steering wheel is all I wanted. But with no choice I bought a 2024 Touring (canada). Still waiting since my first order of '2023" in Oct and having to switch to a 2024 in January. I really hope I don't regret it.

Spray interior cleaner on a clean microfiber cloth to clean and prep the dash/interior trim. Always! Next apply a WATER BASED trim dressing with a foam applicator. Rags are uneven. Remember to shake the water based dressing! The secret to no streaks is to buff the dressed dash/trim with another clean microfiber cloth after 20-30 minutes. If you don't buff, the dressing will shrink as it dries causing a "streaked" appearance.

I went to purchase the cross trek yesterday. I felt so defeated when I realized that the back didn’t have ac vents. I have a Boxer and a French Bulldog that are easily overheated so no back vents are a no go. My sales man was great he could tell I didn’t like the outback wagon look and even though they didn’t have a Forester on the lot he showed it to me on the computer and I ordered it. It has a typical suv appearance WITH back ac vents and more space. Hopefully my Forester touring model will be delivered in August and I’m looking forward to loving it.

HOWEVER, I don't approve of the large screen, and nixing the cd player and crank hand break (idk it's just physically satisfying).
I LOVE my car. Seriously, I see others on the road and think...good choice, brother/sister!

TBH, I think the 2021-23 Crosstreks are a better package. I think the previous gen look better on the outside, and the interior door panels and other areas of the cabin in the '24 look like they've been cheapened up somewhat. Not a fan of the new tablet screen and lack of physical buttons. I'm also not convinced the suspension is "upgraded", since all they did was soften the dampers and springs. That may make for a smoother ride, but it may come at the expense of handling. The previous gen Crosstrek was universally praised for having a comfortable ride as it was.
Ultimately, the 2024 is less attractive than the model it replaces, IMO.

It is cheaper...look at the shifter....the previous gen actually has a better shifter and pleather covering. But now its just a cheap ass looking plastic knob with a metal stick exposed.....It actually looks like shit.

I also have a '21 Crosstrek & love it. As for the new '24 model, I like the exterior changes but the interior...not so much...definitely looks cheaper. I'd miss the physical knobs & the physical e-brake. The new seats look nice and getting rid of the gas cap release on the floor is a good idea.

❤ my 22 Sport so much! I prefer the smaller screen. I hate navigating screens while driving. It's better to have frequently used controls committed to muscle memory. Also, the cd player means I can raid old booksales for cheap as dirt cds/audiobooks. Lol.

Why the crosstrek 2024 in Canada doesn’t have the front camera on any trim despite it is available in other markets like Australia. What is really annoying that the actual physical button is there next to the gear shifter and the parking breaks. I don’t think it will add to the cost this much even there is no radar/sensor to help with parking. I know all trims has the eyesight tech which is great but I don’t think it has something to compensate for a front parking camera or radar

The pet bowl cutouts in the back seem nice. I was thinking maybe a safe location to securely stow your fire extinguisher as well as I always drive with a portable one and first aid kit. I also made it clear to Subaru that if they're going to continue the touchscreen hvac controls for 2025+ legacy/outback models, I will be changing brands.😑👎

Alex. Just a fast question. I have a 2020 Forrester Touring very happy with nit. Sorry no intention to buy a new cR. BUT THERE IS AN MPG INDICATOR ON THE INFOR STACK IN THE MIDDLE. This mpg inidcator seems stuck on the 28.1. How does this change? Every time I fill up I zero out the odometers .

I prefer the 2023. No more manual transmission. Not a fan of the new look. Those wheels reminds me of Pontiac Sunfire's and it's not a good thing. Now some of those "improvements" are really subjective. I dont like the giant touchscreen, it looks bad and i prefer normal buttons for heating and AC. The parking brake being electric now is another dumb upgrade. Have fun changing your rear brakes without a scantool. Also if you believe those wheel arc cladding holes will help stability, then you must also beleive in fairy's. The good thing is that the chassis is 10% stiffer, but appart from that, IMO the 2023 is a lot better.

I currently own a 2020 Legacy. Great car. My next purchase I plan to buy is a Crosstrek. Consumer Reports states the front drivers seat seat is uncomfortable but sounds like that has been addressed from your reviews. I have heard that other reviews state that the standard engine seems underpowered. I am 65 years age not a speed racer do not do off roading....mainly want a reliable dependable vehicle to visit family friends and get stuff at Walmart. Do you think that the standard engine is ok for me? Really engine your vehicle reviews. Subaru make great vehicles. I just subscribed to your channel. Thanks.

I am just in process of buying 2024 Crosstrek onyx trim (available in Canada, 2.5 l engine). They are offering me extended bumper to bumper warranty up to 7 years/100,000 km. This will probably last me for 7 years as I don't drive that much anymore. Does extended warranty provide value for Subaru Crosstrek? They say it covers electronics, too, and with some recent changes I thought maybe there will be more failures...This is my first Subaru and I paid a lot of money in repairs for my Hyundai Sonata, so I feel inclined to buy the extended warranty. But, how likely are failures in Subaru up to 100,000 km? Ny insight from Alex or followers/users of Subaru would be much appreciated! ....Thanks!
