I miss the Apollo version so much. The set design in particular was so inspired and atmospheric. It breaks my heart to see what they’ve done to the show now after waiting so long for a London return 😔
@@butterbook Shakalaka Baby. And I only know that as I got a promo CD randomly posted through my door when it opened. Otherwise, I’ve got nothing 🤣🤣 And I refused to see it as a) They’d sacrificed the Apollo to put on that sh1t show, and b) Meera Syal said it wasn’t made for people like me…so I happily stayed away 🤷🏻♀️
@Simulacra719 yeah...they learned the hard way that this "diverse" audience does not exist. Starlight was for everyone!!!! I saw it in 94 and STILL think of it today. It would still be open today. BOMBay!
@@butterbook I first saw it in ‘93, so I hear ya there! It was still pulling in packed houses, so it was madness to close it - even if there was cries to restore the theatre back to its original look. Made me sad going there to see Wicked and not seeing the gorgeous red and blue in the lobby and all the old Starlight set gone 😔
@Simulacra719 I had such high hopes for the current production, most notably because this is probably the last version for a long long time. I tell my son about the show all the time and wish I could show him what I saw back in 94. It was tineless. ALW could write some good tunes back in the day. It's time for him to retire...unfortunately

And they sacrificed the Apollo for Bombay Dreams! Quick...name a tune from that abomination!
