So I am a Bob Ross baby. Found i had some talent in copying his paintings and following along. I have grown to like painting and thought that oil was the end all be all. The effects you achieve with acrylic and oil together has opened my eyes to the possibilities. Your videos, stressing dark and light and the contrast they bring, how that contrast interacts with our eyes has helped me a lot gain a new perspective when I paint. I love the realism part of art, and yours is mindblowing.

Chuck, I just love the way you do your sky’s. It’s all about paitence laying down some paint stepping back, and looking at your canvas, then coming back to it then laying in another layer of color with your different brushes. I love the way it evoles into a beautiful sunset. Your tectnics are amazing, thank you for walking us through it.

I have tried so many times, BUT each time i incur in not one but 5 problems at the time, you know acrylic dries fast, the wrong judgment of the amount of paint leading to waste, discouragement, etc, i stop here as the list is huge. Anyway, i quite but then i watch one of your videos again and bang i feel that flame inside that i want to try again. I am sure that if i keep following you I will be overcoming any obstacle.
You are different from anyone else on youtube that paints or sells tutorials, you also give a full flavor of how your tutorials are going to be. I am not sure what it is but out of thousands of video about paint, you are definitely CHAMPION. YOU ARE A BEAST, THANK YOU for your generosity!

Beautiful. It's titled Demo, but it's a thorough instructional. I appreciate the detailed instructions....including the thought process of how a great composition comes together. Your talent speakes for itself. The passion you have for painting and the selfless manner you share your knowledge, however, sets you apart from all the other artists on youtube. Your videos are exactly what the beginner is looking for when sifting though soooooo many other vids. Great job. Thanks!

Thank you Chuck for your patience, and telling us what to do, literally step by step. Letting me see you mix your color helped a lot too! I’m going to go through mine after, and see if I can make mine look more realistic! You are awesome to do this for and with us! Loving it!!!👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼💕👏🏼👏🏼😁

Beautiful, helpful and inspiring as usual. When you filled in the forground it looked incredible, all misty rolling distant hills.. Then you darkened it , making tbe forground look more solid. Difficult to say which is better as each gave a whole different look to the painting. Reading through the comments I see you get loads of praise, well, all I can say is you deserve it.

Chuck you make it look so easy.. I’ve been painting just over a year and you are amongst my favourite tutorials. I’ve never used oils perhaps you could explain and show how you progress to the next step with oils on a finished acrylic painting. It’s soo beautiful, I’m trying all different techniques as clouds are so hard for me, thanks again for a beautiful painting well taught.

Thank you for your detailed verbal as well as the real time. Others do a speeded up demo all the way through with no verbal explanation. Your demo was so much better.I wondered if you prepared the canvas before sketching. I never expected the blocking inwould yield the beautiful painting that you did. I enjoyed the demo so much. I only work in oil since it's easier than acrylic for novices, in my opinion. Thank you!

Hey Chuck, I would like to refer you to the last comment by Deidra, who so eloquently expressed everything I was thinking and felt about you, your work and your awesome instruction. I have a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and I'm really good at taking paint, pallet, canvas, easel, brushes and mixing them all together into the landscape to end up with what resembles a Post Modern Avant Garde landfill . So thank you for enlightening my mind and inspiring me to do what I wanted to do since the very beginning, just to be able to paint a beautiful picture. Thank You Chuck for coloring my world!!!

Chuck, Not only is your work beautiful, but sharing your knowledge with we viewers is a beautiful thing to do and I cannot thank you enough!!! Having said that, of course,....I have several questions! First; is it imperative that you seal your acrylic painting before you add to it with oil? if so, what products are available on the market to do that with? Second; I have always painted with acrylics, so I am familiar with them.Just started with oils so that brings up two questions. How long before an oil painting is dry? And what do I seal the dry oil painting with?
As always, Thank you SO,SO much! Angie!!!

I really appreciate your method of teaching. It's incredibly helpful. Not to mention your work is gorgeous. What type of canvas do you use? Do you use anything particular when you paint over with oils? Also could I get the same effect with soft body or regular heavy body acrylics? (Liquitex). Thanks again for sharing your talent with the world.
