I'm 73. When I was a young teen in Illinois I detached tassels from hybrid corn. We walked the fields. My Mother did the same thing but they road on machinery that put them above the corn. The farmers were wonderful. I loved my first real job.

In the morning dews, we wear plastic bags until it got warm enough to take it off. Detassling is HARD work but the reward of getting our new school clothes was fun! And plus for our parents that they didn't have to pay for new clothes for us!

Farming would be difficult in that respect....who else would go to work 52wks of the year not knowing exactly what salary they can expect wk to wk.....no one! And we wonder why farmland is being sold off. Praise all the farmers that support our nutritional needs.

The frogs are held on with a 7/8 inch long by 5/16 inch roll pins if the roll pins are to long it will put pressure on the top of the disk which will increase the pressure of the the disk on the frog and wear quicker

Only farmers and ranchers are told what supplies cost them and, are told what they will get for their crops. Farmers are in the middle with no say so.

So the other blue collar person can not be told the same? Disagree with your reasoning! We all are suffering. Farmers and ranchers play the "risk" vs the reward. Is a gamble

A year or two ago weren't all the frogs breaking or cracked too? Seems odd its a continuing problem, I've been running green planters for 40 years and have never had a frog break, and only replaced them on one 12 row with 24,000 acres on it. Hope you get it figured out, good luck planting.....

DC i was thinking maybe if the planter has different settings where it attaches to the draw bar, if the hitch is to far down it may be putting extra pressure on the 🐸 frogs if you can move the clevis to a lower position on the planter it wouldn't tilt it to the back some when you hook up, maybe the LS changed the height of the drawbar, we run JD planter but they all have the same basic design the frogs last for years on our planters however ours hook to the 3 point, thats got me stumped why those frogs 🐸 are wearing so fast

You're not a whiner DCS it's the those asshats back east in DC that make up the stupid regs and rules that drive everything up. Even as a backyard farmer the price of things are redickuous. Everyone is asking WTH. Glad you are keeping on keeping on, struggling like the rest of us. Keep up the good fight, especially with your Bin situation, I understand that you can't say much on that because of the lawsuit, i hope it all works out for y'all.😊

Not a mechanic but a great problem solver you as a multi generational farmer must be as well. The thing is you have done the easy bit now assuming this problem is showing up everywhere (If not then it is a matter of seeing what difference there is) So you have to see it in action I guess cameras can help plus you need a way of testing what pressure it is putting down. Causes could be something too tight or too loose something not moving that should even an alignment issue all of which you are nor going to see in your shed.
