I lost a Maltese 7yrs ago and own 2 at the moment. Bella passed from kidney failure one day she was perfectly fine then she passed the next the my are such great companions. I have 2 females Poppy who turns 4 this month and BB she is 7. You are right about losing a best friend and baby they are my children. So sorry for your loss of your Maltese living till 19 is amazing my Bella lived till 12 with the kidney issues with small dogs I give mine purified or distilled water and a strict diet and limited treats
I have had Maltese’s for 30 years. They are a wonderful breed. They are sweet, they are affectionate, and they are very very smart. They are easy to train, and house break. My dog only barks when the doorbell rings, or someone knocks on the door. She is not a yapper in any way. I’ve had many dogs, but this breed is at the top of my list.
I have an 18 year old seven month multis! He loves to go on long hikes 2 to 4 miles daily. He never barks he doesn’t bite. He loves people and he trained himself to go on the Wii we pads in my apartment, and also is able to go outside! He’s very healthy and when people see him, they still think he’s a little puppy!
I had a Maltese/poodle, I didn't have problems training her. She was a wonderful pet, we did take her every where , when we left her in the car-we left the air on so she would not get hot. She passed at age 16 and we miss her so much..
Same here... i love my maltese so much his really smart. And the best dog i ever had. I think its depends on how you make they grow. And this vlog reviews is only base to her maltesee not for over all. Some of her reviews is way different to the attitude of my maltese. I have my maltese for 5 years and he still bring happiness to our home.
Never tell another how look after a animal but people know on our planet you can make home made buscuit please for saying give him a buscuit Washington DC USA use I'm told!!
I had a maltese and she was easy to train and a very outgoing dog...she loved camping and taking long walks in the park or on the beach...she was very smart and our time together, just a few months shy of 13 years ....was too short. She has been gone now over seven years, but never to be forgotten ❤. We also recently lost our Bischon poo this past July 28th. He lived 16.6 years with us and we were blessed to have him. ❤ We now have a puppy 14 weeks old....He is a Malshi ....a Maltese and a ShihTzu....we love him so much❤ Dogs are awesome.
We had a female Maltese Bella 7 years ago as well from kidney disease came out of the blue she was fine 1 day then completely worse and passed the day we to her into the vet she came home and passed in my arms one of the worst days of my life they are such great dogs my mom bought a female her name is BB and I bought a female as well in 2019 her name is Poppy her bday is Oct 26 she will be 4 love these dogs so much Maltese and Bischons are great dogs I bet your Malshi is a little sweetie as well
How long dod you wait for another one, pleaygive me advice... My Daisy died just three weeks ago, miss her soooo much... how to cope?!?! She was 13.5, diabetes 😢😢
My Maltese does not yap at all… he’s actually the most quiet dog I’ve ever owned. He does get hot easier if his coat is longer, cold no problem. But he is a house dog as all of them should be. He is groomed every 8 weeks which is not a problem. I’d prefer the grooming over excessive shedding. I lose more hair than he does. I’ve never seen him shed a hair. He is very clingy so I never have to use a leash. He is the best baby ever with no behavior issues. He is very smart, content, and VERY low maintenance. If I had to choose a home for a Maltese it would be for a mature committed adult that is home more than not just because your pup will get lonely and the Maltese is very loyal and clingy to it’s owner. They are smart and will make you feel guilty if left for long periods. Grooming is a must to avoid matting. Otherwise this pup is a fabulous breed. I’ve had every breed pretty much and my Maltese has been the easiest, cleanest in the house, smartest, most loyal, just all around perfect companion.
I owned a Maltese once and while I didn't exactly consider her a quiet dog, I did consider her a considerate dog. She could get yappy, but if I simply calmly asked her to quiet down, she would, immediately. She just wanted to let me know about the thing that was worth barking at, and once I assured her I knew, she settled right down.
@@FF-by6ci my wife and I have had our Maltese for 9 years. We usually walk him 3 times a day. Usually around 9am, 3pm and night walk around 9pm. Never had any issues with him needing to go constantly at night.
Regarding the question about the bladder of a Maltese: my Maltese could easily hold it over the night when she was only 6 months old. And in general: I grew up with lots of dogs from different breeds, the Maltese is among the smartest and has an extraordinary easygoing character. There is just the thing with barking, she just can't hold it in in some situations, like a reflex impossible to control. But she knows if I don't like it and then she just walks out of the situation that makes her bark. Very lovely dog. And I once belonged to those people that didn't consider this breed as a real dog at all.
1. They are so fluffy like a pillow 2. They just want to lick you 3. They always want to love you but also want your attention 4. Everyone will always say “you have a cute dog” 5. They love to play 6. They miss u when you leave 7. They stick their tongue out always ……. CONCLUSIÓN: Why not to get a Maltese… lol they are sooo adorbs 😍
I fully agreed with you. I can't believe she is givinh such a bad opinión of a dog that she have living with for such long period. I believe moltese are amazing dos.
My Beautiful Beautiful Boy Bailey (my soulmate) NEVER barked unless someone knocked at the door. And as soon as i answered he stopped and couldn't wait to greet our guest. He would have to stay alone at times but he NEVER barked only jumped up and down when i arrived home. This sweet loving boy was a celebrity in the neighbourhood. Had his own barstool at 335 where we would have dinner at the bar. He was a total gentleman and everyone truly loved him. His nickname was Mr. Luva Luva. He truly loved every human he met. My boy passed September 4th 2023. I have lost the greatest love of my life... He loved me through the darkest bleakest times of my life and kept me grass side up. I owe him my life and will miss him desperately until we meet again.
Everything mentioned is the total opposite of my Maltese. He don’t bark, sunbathes, goes in the garden on his own, has never ever had a toilet accident inside. He always follows my wife round the house and likes to sit with people. He does get a little excited when the door bell goes, but doesn’t every dog.
I have a rescue 14 year old Maltese that I’ve had for 11 years. She is the light of my life I disagree with the not liking or needing exercise though Even at 14 she still loves her morning and afternoon walks!
@@christylee9552 lol they are awsome.. very smart too. ill speak english, spanish and hand movements and he learns it without me even teaching it sometimes, just picks it up
yep, our little Maltese likes his walks. He's very good on the leash, and rarely wanders from my side. His papers say he was born in March last year; we've had him since July, and we love him!
Mine is 10 years old and she loves her daily 30-45 morning walks. Recently I took her to a new vet bc its a cheaper, a community aiding service, and when I took her in they thought she was 4 from how alive and well taken care of she ir
If you have problems with your Maltese, you probably just need a different style of dog. Mine is my best buddy and has no barking or matting issues,. He was a breeze to housebreak. He's my daily source of sanity and is incredibly loyal. He learned the normal sounds I make when I get up, stretch, lay down, etc - so now he makes those same sounds when he does those things. I wouldn't trade my Maltese for all the tea in China.
my grandparents have a maltipoo (maltese and poodle) and although he is very cute, he has no training. Now he is extremely territorial and jealous all the time. he growls at anything and everything. for gods sake people, please train your dogs.
1. Maltese are the cuest thing on earth 2. There top 7 emotional support dogs 3. There local because they love people and friends they love any one 4. There royalty UwU 5. They have such a great personality and stay small Forever! And I'm getting a Maltese soon and I never regret it that kind of breed has been my dream for 6 years and everything ur saying is just ur upon no one else's because some people could really love and care for this dog so please don't but ur upon on the internet ty!
You're not wrong, however, I love talkative animals. I will admit my late Maltese Sophia had 0 training, but she was a good dog. The separation anxiety, grooming, being a shadow, and tripping everyone up were my only issues. Besides that, she came potty trained and was honestly my little sister and best friend. When we were kidnapped together she watched over me and made sure the people who took us didn't come close to me(she understood the situation because the same people stole her before). She was also extremely healthy to the point that cancer didn't show up on her blood work. Plus, she was loving towards all animals, especially her cat siblings. A Maltese is not for anyone who wants an easy dog, but they are awesome little balls of fluff who stay playful and happy till the end... She was MY first dog and honestly, it was the best most wonderful experience. And I'm a cat person. Everyone loved her. Even people who were afraid of dogs would send her gifts. In short Maltese are awesome, but I don't recommend them to busy or novice owners.
Everything said here is my Maltese. She's yappy, clingy, stubborn, difficult, bossy, has an attitude BUT she's very smart, loving, loyal, comedic, fun, and I can't picture my life without her. We've been together for a year now, it hasn't been all over the moon joy, it's been trying to say the least, but she is my love, my daily laughs and smiles. She loves so unconditionally that the trying times are forgotten. This is the first Maltese I have owned and I'm so very glad I found her. She is my daily happiness and joy. She is a blessing.
I have a Morkie- half Maltese half yorkie named Sadie. She looks like a maltese. I have videos of her on my channel which shows that she’s pretty well behaved. Sadie is a sweetheart. She is such a great dog. Yeah she barks whenever the doorbell rings or at some strangers but isn’t that most dogs? I also adopted a second dog (yorkie) so they both have a buddy. For most part I’m home. But when i have to run errands with no one is home, they are fine. Having a second dog definitely helps - You should never leave your dog alone outside. Even a large breed. Large Dogs also can get attacked by other animals. I grew up with two labs. I had a large backyard with woods behind it. One day, they got out of the fence, and cocoa was hit by a car driven by my neighbor. We rushed him to the vet and Luckily he was okay. But it was very scary. Things happened. Also, people have been stealing other people’s dogs out of their yards. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG UNATTENDED. - You should walk your dog several times a day; regardless of breed. Maltese are very energetic. And it helps them burn energy by walking them. Also, they require exercise like all of us. It’s also good for the owner too.
Another thing to remember is that not every dog is the same, my Maltese likes sleeping and won’t be a nuisance unless you annoy him but besides that and him barking at every he’s a good well behaved dog. My family didn’t want a Maltese dog and likes the black lab breed more but my dog was kind of in need as he was found by my dad wandering the streets as a stray dog and we decided to adopt him because he didn’t have an owner apparently and I’m guessing he was probably a reject. But yea we’ve had him since 2018 and he’s been great.
I got my maltese at 8 weeks old. He was yappy then, but with training, he doesn't do it anymore unless talked to. He plays outside all the time. He does his potty outside with no problem at all. I can leave him alone at home when I do grocery shopping during winter with no problem. You just have to train them from puppy hood, which is needed whether you have a maltese or another breed
Rigorous socialization at a young age will do wonders. Unfortunately most people miss the crucial window of socialization because the vet tells them to keep them inside until they've had their vaccinations.
we had a Maltese for 19yrs. She was a great dog. She minded, was easy to travel with. Way a loving dog. We decided after a few yrs, we've now got a new Maltese puppy. She is so loving, even as a puppy. Very playful. Starting to work on different training. Get one if you want a great companion.
We had a family dog, a Maltese, named Paris. She lived for 17 years. She was sweet, silly, sassy, and smart. She was my heart dog. It was difficult witnessing her health and cognitive decline. I miss her so much.
My Maltese, Betty, is the first "pure bred" dog I have ever lived with. She is far from the smartest dog I've had. She has to be kept clipped often, and has to bathe every week. She is the sweetest best tempered dog in the freaking world! I love this doggo. She loves her people so much, it's ridiculous. Maltese are great companion dogs.
Our Maltese is 19 years old she is very old and she still gets around we brought her from Animal Shelter for our Daughnter she was 6 years old she is no problem she loves food and her health is good she is just very Fragile because of her age
My shiatsu was 19 and in very fragile health. He was so good when I needed him when my husband was dying so I sent him to doggie heaven when he was in pain. Sad but I got a rescue maltese and these small dogs rule!
My dog is a Maltese and she's so quiet and she only barks when the door bell rings. The grooming is so true but I have never had skin issues with her the groomers recently gave me a card telling me about how she did and they said her skin is super healthy and that she was well trained. I've never had a problem training her but she is very clingy.
My Maltese passed away at 15 last year. She had all of the problems you discussed and was a little shit often but I loved everything about her, and still miss her everyday.
I currently have a maltese. She's 2 years old. I got her when she was 1. Idk if her previous owners trained her at all, Socialized her, or walked her. She is very good with kids and people in general. She loves me to death. She's quiet unless she's on leash and sees another dog or if I leave her alone. For the most part, the closer our bond, she responds well and very quickly to new commands I'm trying t teach her.
yeah this is messed up. they bark because they are constantly being a "protector". they are all different. mine did take forever to train but most little dogs do. she can also handle freezing and ridiculously got weather. finally not every one gets separation anxiety
Yeah…my Maltese is very old and well- she is loud, but it’s not high pitched. She is a lap dog though, but she can be loud, but just as you said, she is being a protector.
These are hardly reasons why you shouldn't own a Maltese. I've raised two Maltese dogs that have since passed away; one I had to put to sleep after 16 years just months ago. What I wouldn't give to hear her bark once more. Both my dogs hardly barked unless the doorbell rang or they were playing. My heart aches just thinking about my dog Tipsy (she'd walk around like she was drunk all the time). All the maintenance such as the expensive vet bills, cooking healthy food for them, grooming them myself (UA-cam), and raising them is nothing compared to the unconditional love and appreciation you receive in return. My dogs used to sleep with me and I haven't slept the same since I had to let Tipsy go.
@squeezy1001 My dog's ashes are in a nice urn with her dog collar and tag attached to it on my bedroom dresser. Along with the urn, a picture of her paw print and pieces of her hair are next to it. I understand exactly how you feel. When I come home, I'll walk into my bedroom and say out loud, "I'm home." I'm sure to people who don't love dogs will think it's weird. I think I'm weird for still talking to her. Thank you for sharing your experience.
My maltese poodle mix is such a great companion, he matches my energy and temperament. He is such a laid back dog. I take him to restaurants and he'll just be quiet and behaved, he likes going to shop with me, and go on adventures. I love my maltipoo so much.
I had a Maltese named Kirby for 16 years 2005-2021 and I loved him more than anything. If you gain this dog’s trust it will be with you until the day it passes away.
I am a 8 year experienced programmer, and I love making projects. My Maltese was def my most interesting project, ranking amongst my several year long game developments, apps etc. To me it is like a child, and there are downsides to human children too, but that doesn’t change the fact that it is still a cute adorable dog. I treated it like code. But you teach it by training rather than using the keyboard. I don’t regret buying it at all, in fact I’m only sad I didn’t get another one!
I am a "glass is half empty kind of guy" but, my gosh! You probably should have presented this information as "The pros and cons of owning a Maltese." A lot of this information is accurate but in my opinion, the joy a Maltese can bring to a family far exceeds any negatives. I got two Maltese puppies in 2010. I lost one to cancer in 2011. This was heart breaking. The other one is 14 years old and still acts like a puppy. She is lovable, bossy, playful, and one of the best dogs I have ever had. They are great dogs!
This post infuriated me. It's full of misinformation. I have a Maltese dog and they are very intelligent, entertaining, and affectionate. Just a hit piece on Maltese dogs for some unexplained reason.
Total lies!! I criticize this video!! I've had several Maltese , over 50 years, and they have ALL been tremendously, sweet dogs!! All my dogs were very quiet! Every dog's hair needs tending! Big dogs should not be left alone either outdoors because they can become destructive. Our maltese dogs ALL went on trays outside on our deck! Extremely smart!! I would highly recommend a Maltese!
I had a little cockapoo for 19 years. She was a black, curly little thing. When I got her there were a lot of sleepless nights but she became the best friend a person could ever ask for. She was my little shadow. She passed in June 2023 and I didn't know if I'd ever opened my heart or get attached to another dog again as I picked up her lifeless body and took it to our yard to be buried. A year later these 2 maltese came into my life and with all the patience I learned with my past love I it was love at first sight. Pups make mistakes and messes as any child could and will to test your sanity but oh the joys they bring all so. My life is better left to chance. I could have missed the pain but I would have missed the Dance! The dance was the best part!
My Maltese was house trained in less than 2 weeks. He is very clingy and has separation anxiety but he's never alone bc my mum works from home and is self employed we just organize who looks after him so that there is always someone with him or we'll take him with us. He isn't yappy at all unless someone's at the door and even then he stops on command. He's 10yo now and the most gentle, loving, smart and loyal dog
I have a Maltese and it's all about training them early. He knows he's not allowed to bark inside so he has a little inside murmer he does instead. We taught him early on stay home alone and he's fine on his own all day, he poops on his puppy pad and taught himself to pee in the shower. I could go on all day what a good boy he is. Train them from day one and you'll be good.
I rescued a darling maltese x from drowning. She was 9 years old. It was obvious that she must have been abused, a broken rib, that just stuck out. Within a week she learned her new name, knew to ask to go outside for her pee and poo, she hardly barked, played with our big dogs. She gave us 5 years of pure joy. She was such a sweet, precious child. Unfortunately she got a heart condition and the medication could not be increased. We had to set her little spirit free. What she gave us was more than we could describe.
I am thinking of buying one but I might leave her inside my house when I go out or when I go to my university and I live by myself but I dont want her to yank or bark so do they bark so much or is it safe to buy one and leave it? And thank you 🙏🏽
Maltese are actually inside dogs. Make sure you have a routine, they do have separate anxiety, but what doesn't? Make sure you get her toys to keep her busy and take her for regular walks. She will get used to that so she knows what to get excited about
I’m getting a Maltese dog in 19 days but Maltese don’t bark that much and maybe they’re so easy to train I don’t kinda agree with this they also don’t like the cold but i saw tones with sweaters
Do not get a maltese dog. My mother got one and he is annoying. Hes a coward, will bark full volume when he hears someone (usually me) in the house, but will be too afraid to go check out what is causing the sound and will just keep barking upstairs. Always with an attitude, likes to 'exhale through nose' when you ask him to do something or are trying to give correction. Big coward in his own home, but outside will be attacking the biggest dogs. Always embarrassing to walk him in public. Always pulling on the lead 5 meters plus, never looks back to check in where the owner(my mother) is going. For the most part, it is mothers fault for spoiling him and being too soft on him, not correcting the bad behaviour. "People will treat you like you allow them to treat you. Act like a king to be treated like one" - 48 laws of power. Same applies to dogs.
He is very quiet. I take him to restaurants, to movies, to take trains, to post office, to supermarkets, to banks, to lawyer’s office……you name it, he is always very quiet, makes no sounds. No one would even know his inside my bag and sits beside me. He sleeps next to me, he give me different signal for wanting drinking water, wanting eating food, wanting go to bathroom. Once he had diarrhea, needed go to bathroom, he shake my shoulders to wake me up, when I put him on the floor, he ran into bathroom, did not cause any messy. He is sweet, he is soft, he is lovely. When we walk on the streets, we always got people taking picture of him. I really don’t know your Maltese, but mine is totally love of my life.
My Maltese is quiet when we go in places too. He will talk to people if they talk to him but other than that, he often goes unnoticed in his little carrier.
Trusty Tyler was pad trained. When visiting other houses all we had to do was put down a pad and show him where it was. Never made a mess. Yes, very brave. Very rarely took him outside but he got away. Once ran into a pasture and was in a standoff with a cow. Another time chased a deer into the woods.
I'm a big dog lover in particular, but this breed has charmed the boots off me. My uncle has one, and it has a really sweet and sociable personality. He ONLY yaps when someone is at the door. It also prefers vegetables unlike my own dogs or most dogs.
Hopefully, people will read the comments after watching this errant video. A Maltese is one of the best dog breeds to have inside your house. They are very loving, extremely loyal, always are sensitive to your moods and bark no more (I've actually found less) than other small dog breeds. Please, do further research on these dogs after watching this screed.
I have a Maltese, she 14 years old. She is very protective of me and soooo loving. She barks if a stranger comes near me, etc. has never ever been a tapper. She is the sweetest dog on earth!!
I have/had two Maltese a female and male. We just lost our girl after two years of diabetes and insulin shots. She went blind shortly after the initial diagnosis. Most loving and intuitive dog I have ever had. No behavior issues whatsoever. Our male was a rescue and he was already potty trained. His personality is very different from our girl but still a good dog. Yes grooming is constant and they are very clingy to their owners especially our male Maltese. I would love another female if she can be nearly as sweet as our Tula.
OMG, I loved all three of my maltese. My first one I took to work with me to socialize her. My third one baby sat my granddaughter. She stayed right on the pillow with her. I became so attached that it was terrible when each passed away. I have their ashes. I am looking for another one now.
Okay, why isn’t picky eater on this list? Lol the Maltese breed is one of the pickiest eaters so if you plan on feeding the same thing , dry kibbles , this may not be a breed for you. I love my Maltese but she is definitely a picky eater 😅 she’s even over the Farmers Dog, don’t know what to feed her anymore
They will not be fat if you don't give them too much food. Unless they have thyroid deficiency which is very easy and inexpensive to treat. You might ask your vet.
@@hattrick257 I actually found her at an abandoned house. She was fat when I found her. 😭 She was matted up and it seems as though her previous owners were using her as a puppy mill. She’s way older too so she doesn’t move around as much either, but she also doesn’t eat a lot 🤷🏽♀️ .
@@hattrick257 ikr 😞 she’s so mean to me and my kids and she had bitten all of us multiple times and left us bleeding with scars but we still love her. Her name is Luna aka Lunatic 😂😂😂
I didn't teach my Maltese poo training , he just goes to the bathroom on his own when he need to poo , sometimes he doesn't reach the bathroom and poo on the bathroom door , and he barely barks but sometimes when i left him he's like complaining like 'woowoowoo' not barking , there are only 7 reasons not to have but i choose thousand reasons to have , he is not lucky i am the one lucky to have him in my life
I have had 4 phenomenal Maltese dogs. Teddy, Kirby, Henry & George 😊 I absolutely adore this breed. I love how cuddly they are. They have all been my shadow. My dogs are my family 🤍
I recently met one whose owner is an Uber driver; he was so sweet, and laid back. His eyes so gentle, even when a stranger got into their car, his name is Bentley.
I have had two and they were the sweetest, best behaved dogs i have ever had in my life. They only barked when someone knocked at the door. That beautiful coat requires maintenance but its worth it. Pay no attention to this!
I had my Maltese for over 18 years and he was just a love. I lived in a very hot climate......and he did just fine. They are indoor dogs so it was not an issue. He was worth every penny I spent on his grooming. He was incredibly healthy and I miss him still, 5 years after losing him. He slept with me every night of his life except for the times I would be out of town. I would do it again in a heartbeat but currently I'm loving on my Golden Retriever.
My dog only barks out of excitement and seeing other dogs but she never barks 24/7, rn she’s laying beside me on the bed and it looks so comfortable how she lays down 😭!! She’s a great dog for comfort and perfect for children. She never bites unless she feels threatened or hurt and my nephew will literally chase her around or lay his head on her and hug her and she’s never bothered! He literally shares his food with her which might be a problem because she isn’t supposed to eat table scraps, anywho she’s an amazing sweet and adorable doggo friend and she will never be compared to annoying, aggressive or anything else!!
In all these years you are of the only one complaining the Maltese. You are either unlucky got a wrong one or a mixed one not pure Maltese, or your love, care, training devotion not enough! I feel very sorry.
I'm glad I found this video. I've been thinking of getting a Maltese but wondered about the upkeep and their disposition. The incessant barking made the decision to pass on this breed. Thank you for posting it.
I have a maltese, he is sooo adorable, the only thing thats true is being clingy, which i like and makes me feel loved by him :) . He is the most silent dog we ever had, except for strangers, not incessantly as described here, other negatives mentioned in the video are all very manageable. So it really depends how you keep your doggie. You wont regret having a maltese!!
This video truly is spot on. My Maltese does not go potty outside and only uses training pads. I preferred not to train him for outdoor potty. I've had him almost ten years. I take him most everywhere with me and when going inside some place, he is in his little house (carrier). He is a watch dog of sorts because he will bark if someone knocks on the door, if he sees the mailman, hears an unfounded sound and that is good for me. He will generally stop marking once I say 'it's the neighbors' or 'it's ok'. I've never ever let him outside without me and he is always on a leash outdoors. Maltese do often have throat issues, especially as they age. Most noticeable when they get excited.
I have a maltichon and he is (more or less) house trained and we taught him to ring a bell to get outside. But he is very hard to train for things like sit, stay etc. unless there is actual food on offer in which case he will obey up to a point. He is a yappy little bastard but can cope with some separation but will follow us around like we're being haunted by a ghost dog. We burned through several dog minders fed up that he wouldn't settle at night or be quiet. After that we started developing a routine where he went to bed in a room of his own at night and despite scratching and yapping that went on for a few weeks he got used to it. Routine is the best way to calm him down and we've noticed that if we leave the house he is pretty fine about it although can get overexcited if he sees people passing, rabbits in the garden or whatever.
Omg I got so emotional by reading all the beautiful comments ,I had one year old Maltese from my frd I am little nervous and anxious about her toileting please pray for me I am having Dog for the first time in my entire life I am nervous and happy too
This is my dog. He is pure bred w papers from a reputable breeder. That being said he was only supposed yo get about 7 pounds. He is 13 pounds at just 1 year old. Not fat, just bigger.
I need help! My Maltese is 8 months and bites my hands and feet all the time. He nips most of the time but soemtimes he bites down hard and I have to scold him.. he does this with my 10 year old son too. What do I do to correct this?
1:they do not bark high pitch 2:it is fine to leave your dog outside 3:They actually do not mind being alone... IT IS VERY EASY TO TRAIN THEM !!!(I traind my dog to sit shake and spin in a mounth!❤❤❤❤
Our maltese barks very little, its called training, our maltese has Zero issues in 110 degree weather or 5 degrees. She has been hiking with us as high as 13k feet in Colorado, she boats with us, rides on the atv, loves the utv rides. Very easy dog to take care of. The best lap dog ive ever owned.
Guess u never had a maltese. They are such loving and rare breeds who know just nothing but love. Sorry but ur video is truly incorrect, i had a maltese and have never known a better dog
My dog is the best so cute ! I love him so much he keeps everyone in our home smiling all the time.. Milo is 5yrs with us and only barks when the door bell goes or the post/parcel guy..Maltees for me always. There truly pets that become a family member
Hogwash! I have a Maltese and he’s the sweetest most interactive, intelligent dog I’ve ever had. I would never get another breed after having a Maltese as they are simply the best. I have owned a German Shepherd, a Cocker Spaniel, a Maltipoo, a Snoodle (poodle schnauzer mix) and currently have a bichon Shih Tzu mix. I have loved them all and each is special in their own way, but the Maltese is just a whole different experience in pet companionship.
This video is very misleading. I had Bella(a maltese)for 14 yrs before she passed. That was 2 years ago and I still miss her every day. There were so many days that she was the only thing that brought me any joy. She was very easy to house train, she only barked when she heard something out of the ordinary which in the middle of the night one time she started barking and growling and wouldn't stop so I thought she wanted to go out to potty but when I opened the door she bolted and would be burglar took off from my garage door and I know she bit his ankles a few times before he got back over the fence. As far as grooming they are high maintenance but if you take the time to learn to do it yourself and spend a little bit on clippers and some other things you need then keep up on it and not let them get matted it is fairly quick and easy. Gabby which is Bella's daughter is still with me and she is just as precious as her mother. I didn't even have to house train Gabby she just followed Bella's lead and that was that. Gabby is a little more difficult when it comes to trimming her paws and nails because she doesn't like them messed with. As far as any quirks or behaviors of Maltese that would be a dealbreaker I can think of none because both Bella and Gabby have been the sweetest most loveable and protective dogs I have ever seen
THIS IS A FAKE VIDEO! I HAVE 2 MALTESE AND I LOVE'EM! THEIR NAMES ARE BOBBI AND LUCY! AND THEY'RE SWEET PUPS! TAKE THIS PATHETIC VIDEO DOWN IMMEDIATELY! 😡
Last week I got a maltese as a gift and for the first two days he looked at me for 12 hours a day which scared me so I left him alone in the hallway. It's okay for him to be tied to the boss, but it's too bad I didn't know this and found this video earlier. And he was so restless that I thought he was crazy 😁. And I've had an American Chihuahua for 5 years and it's not like I don't know what a dog is. That Maltese immediately ran out of the yard on the second day when one of the householders came out the gate with lightning speed and the dog police are still looking for him. Now I miss him incredibly. And yes, he asked to be petted and I did that all the time, and then suddenly he started growling as if he was going to bite me.
I have to totally disagree with this video! I have had my female Maltese since she was 7 weeks old (she’s now 4) and although it hasn’t been what some would call an easy endeavor, she has been beyond a shadow of a doubt completely worth it. Not only was she completely house trained before a year old but now even if I have to be out all day running errands without her she does not have accidents. We are even overcoming ALL of these commonly spread rumors about Maltese’s-even the separation anxiety, tendency to be vocal, etc. She LOVES All humans ESPECIALLY children & other animals. She is extremely loyal, extremely playful, cheerful, obedient, eager to please, smart, and worth every gosh darn penny and every bit of my time and energy. The only reason I would say a Maltese might not be for you is if you don’t have the time PATIENCE commitment compassion Etc to dedicate to them. I have found that most people who put the ‘blame’ on a pet really just don’t have what it takes to commit to this kind of relationship. The only love I’ve ever known like hers is the one with my creator! P.S. before deciding to get a pet of any species, I highly encourage you to really consider the pros AND cons for your specific situation. They are not like children which eventually grow up and can care for themselves. Animals have needs and souls like us all and if you can’t dedicate yourself to them then just look up cute animal videos online BECAUSE THESE LIFE COMMITMENTS ARE SERIOUS!
Almost nothing of what this video says is not the case. I am owner of a 7 month Maltese dog and I will say that they are very smart and sensitive dogs. The question is whether the owner can manage it, or not.
We have a sweet little boy who will be 4 in November. He is very loving, especially if I cry he is right there by my side. Very alert to noises around our 100 year old house. He would love to eat everything on your plate, but only gets tastes. No human food. He loves to pee on my husband's pillow on the bed or on his shoes, but he doesn't do that to me. Loves car rides! We take him everywhere we go that he can go. Loves to snuggle and sleep with us in the bed. Next I have to learn about brushing his teeth. Would love anyones help with the best toothe brush and toothe past. We are disabled and could have no children so he is our baby ❤ We love him with both of our hearts ♥️♥️
Honestly, if you are a good and responsible dog owner, none of these “reasons” are a problem. Maltese’s are great breeds for families and do well in both apartment and large homes. This is however a good way to deter people who are not ready for a dog.
This is ridiculous. Just lost my 17 year old Maltese - best dog I ever had. So very smart, brave and loyal.
I just lost mine too he had just turned 19 before he passed. He was my best friend and my baby. I hope you're coping well with the loss of your pet
Omg yes!!!! My little lost Luna is super brave lol so little and thinks she’s soooo tough
We did too and he was amaaing
Never believe computer generated spoken audio. The creator is always hiding something. You can start with they are hiding their voice.
That’s rare if it’s 30 bc usually it’s up to 12 or 13
True.
@@Phoebsteroni the comment says Maltese’s…..meaning many of them.

How long is that in dog years?
Same here... i love my maltese so much his really smart. And the best dog i ever had. I think its depends on how you make they grow. And this vlog reviews is only base to her maltesee not for over all. Some of her reviews is way different to the attitude of my maltese. I have my maltese for 5 years and he still bring happiness to our home.

Ignore the haters. The Maltese is the best breed. They are the sweetest ❤
They’re very good at eating my trash and destroying the house. 10/10

We had a female Maltese Bella 7 years ago as well from kidney disease came out of the blue she was fine 1 day then completely worse and passed the day we to her into the vet she came home and passed in my arms one of the worst days of my life they are such great dogs my mom bought a female her name is BB and I bought a female as well in 2019 her name is Poppy her bday is Oct 26 she will be 4 love these dogs so much Maltese and Bischons are great dogs I bet your Malshi is a little sweetie as well
I have a designer breed, MalShiPoo, he is white and a playful doll still at age 8. I feed a raw diet.
Can you please tell me about his bladder, I was told they need to constantly go and I'll have to get up in the middle of the night.
Never had any issues with him needing to go constantly at night.
i love when my boy rambo like those those tiny barks at me when i speak to him like literally talking back to me love him to bits
1. They are so fluffy like a pillow
2. They just want to lick you
3. They always want to love you but also want your attention
4. Everyone will always say “you have a cute dog”
5. They love to play
6. They miss u when you leave
7. They stick their tongue out always
…….
CONCLUSIÓN:
Why not to get a Maltese…
lol they are sooo adorbs 😍
Yasss your soo right
I fully agreed with you. I can't believe she is givinh such a bad opinión of a dog that she have living with for such long period. I believe moltese are amazing dos.

My Maltese was a great dog. She didn't bark and was well behaved. She lived 20 and a half years. We still miss our Little Bit.
Wow. Mine lived 16. How did you get her to live so long may I ask?
Wow

I disagree with the not liking or needing exercise though
Even at 14 she still loves her morning and afternoon walks!
i agree mine just turned 14yrs. this video is the complete opposite for the most part of how mine acts

I think you mean the dog need a different family!!!! As they are just amazing

7 reason why your family left you for being hater on Maltese dogs
Having a second dog definitely helps
- You should never leave your dog alone outside.
How did you reach 19?!?! What did you feed your dog?! My beloved Daisy died just three weeks ago, heartbreaking 😢
I love my baby ❤ You will never regret having a Maltese.
These facts are not true. Had 3 Maltese and had none of these problems.
I agree!
Our Maltese is 19 years old she is very old and she still gets around we brought her from Animal Shelter for our Daughnter she was 6 years old she is no problem she loves food and her health is good she is just very Fragile because of her age
Wow incredible ! I hope my Maltese lives this long.
I've never had a problem training her but she is very clingy.
i hate when people say “Don’t own these breeds” if you want the breed just get it man
My Maltese passed away at 15 last year.

I have a Morkie (Maltese & Yorkie) barely ever barks. Sometimes I fake bark to encourage her to bark.
@squeezy1001 My dog's ashes are in a nice urn with her dog collar and tag attached to it on my bedroom dresser. Along with the urn, a picture of her paw print and pieces of her hair are next to it.
I understand exactly how you feel. When I come home, I'll walk into my bedroom and say out loud, "I'm home."
I'm sure to people who don't love dogs will think it's weird. I think I'm weird for still talking to her. Thank you for sharing your experience.
You can hate if you want, but don’t force people to hate too. Maltese dogs are the best dog breeeds and the sweetest dogs
I was a traveling nurse and I took my Maltese everywhere. I went great with Client is great with kids and adults.
As a programmer... You're the reason people see us as weirdos. Comparing dogs to code... Wtf

Those reasons why I love maltese dogs 🐕♥️😊
I am a "glass is half empty kind of guy" but, my gosh! You probably should have presented this information as "The pros and cons of owning a Maltese." A lot of this information is accurate but in my opinion, the joy a Maltese can bring to a family far exceeds any negatives. I got two Maltese puppies in 2010. I lost one to cancer in 2011. This was heart breaking. The other one is 14 years old and still acts like a puppy. She is lovable, bossy, playful, and one of the best dogs I have ever had. They are great dogs!
Amen- everything you said is true.
A maltese our little Foufidi gave to my mother again her smile after my fathers death. She adores her. She is a part of my family.
Rescued my 1st ever Maltese 2 weeks ago. She's the best dog I ever had (have had 8 dogs over the years). Will never get another breed
You've got that right! Me too.
I had a lots of Maltese and yorkie dogs with me in this 35 years, l didn’t have any problems , they are the good dogs for everyone

She will get used to that so she knows what to get excited about
I’m getting a Maltese dog in 19 days but Maltese don’t bark that much and maybe they’re so easy to train I don’t kinda agree

@@Denzilrulez Maltese is an aggressive dog bread its the only bad thing I think 😂 But if u get one you will still love it even if it bites you 😀
Do not get a maltese dog.
I had a Maltese for 14 yrs and I still miss her so much! It's been 21 years! And yes she was the sweetest and loving dog!
I just got a Maltese and it's mostly calm. But at the afternoon, it's very playful 😊
Thank you. I’m thinking of getting one.
Cough cough.. shihtzu is quiet & very welcome & kind to strangers 😅
I have a Maltese, she 14 years old. She is very protective of me and soooo loving. She barks if a stranger comes near me, etc. has never ever been a tapper. She is the sweetest dog on earth!!
rubbish they are great little dogs
My little rascal was picky but once we changed to The Farmers Dog he loved the stuff immediately
This is so stupid & silly. Maltese are lovely, loyal for their owners.
I have a Maltese Poodle (Maltipoo). This breed is a game changer for most people so don't hesitate to get one.
they are smart and sweet..I have one...black one.. bigger...sweet and smart
My Maltese is fat asf. Why are these so skinny 🤣🤣
They will not be fat if you don't give them too much food. Unless they have thyroid deficiency which is very easy and inexpensive to treat. You might ask your vet.
Lol that’s not good, watch it’s diet or it will get sick. If it already isn’t.
@@ericalashay0209 wow poor baby. Well I’m glad she’s with you now.
@@hattrick257 ikr 😞 she’s so mean to me and my kids and she had bitten all of us multiple times and left us bleeding with scars but we still love her. Her name is Luna aka Lunatic 😂😂😂
I didn't teach my Maltese poo training , he just goes to the bathroom on his own when he need to poo , sometimes he doesn't reach the bathroom and poo on the bathroom door , and he barely barks but sometimes when i left him he's like complaining like 'woowoowoo' not barking , there are only 7 reasons not to have but i choose thousand reasons to have , he is not lucky i am the one lucky to have him in my life
Where does he poo when he is in the bathroom, did he sit on toilett??
I have had 4 phenomenal Maltese dogs. Teddy, Kirby, Henry & George 😊
I absolutely adore this breed. I love how cuddly they are. They have all been my shadow. My dogs are my family 🤍
I recently met one whose owner is an Uber driver; he was so sweet, and laid back. His eyes so gentle, even when a stranger got into their car, his name is Bentley.
My Maltese name is Bentley to!
@@tiffanyashford4769 😃 A lucky lady, you are.
They share so many similarities with Shih Tzu.
I'm glad I found this video. I've been thinking of getting a Maltese but wondered about the upkeep and their disposition. The incessant barking made the decision to pass on this breed. Thank you for posting it.
this video is not truth
I have a maltese, he is sooo adorable, the only thing thats true is being clingy, which i like and makes me feel loved by him :) . He is the most silent dog we ever had, except for strangers, not incessantly as described here, other negatives mentioned in the video are all very manageable. So it really depends how you keep your doggie. You wont regret having a maltese!!
My malti only barks when I say "want din-din?" Barks 2 or 3 times until I give him dinner.
I LOVE MY MALTESE!!!! BEST DOG EVER!!!!
Omg I got so emotional by reading all the beautiful comments ,I had one year old Maltese from my frd
I am little nervous and anxious about her toileting please pray for me I am having Dog for the first time in my entire life
I am nervous and happy too
I’ve had my Maltese for 12 years and by far the best pet I’ve ever had. Very disciplined and never yaps.
I have a Maltese dog and she is great, fun and very loyal l love my little buddy. My Maltese trained very well to the pee pee pad.
1:they do not bark high pitch
2:it is fine to leave your dog outside
3:They actually do not mind being alone...
Maltese is one of the cutest dogs I've seen. This video is totally untrue.
My maltese baby passed away at age of 15. Best dog and best friend ever. Smart ,intelligent and very caring. Miss my baby 😪
I have a Maltese and she is now 12. She trained very easily and is the most loving. We clip her in summer and bath every two weeks.
THIS IS A FAKE VIDEO! I HAVE 2 MALTESE AND I LOVE'EM! THEIR NAMES ARE BOBBI AND LUCY! AND THEY'RE SWEET PUPS! TAKE THIS PATHETIC VIDEO DOWN IMMEDIATELY! 😡
I already have the best Maltese poodle 🙂
I agree this guy must have gotten dumped with a girl with a Maltese
