As a Scandinavian myself... it's still a bit of a shame that so much of Viking history is documented in tales and witnesses and not much by them themselves. (compared to many contemporary civilizations) Runestones and such were usually erected with short descriptions without details. At the same time, this contributes to historical delightful mystery and speculation. Thank you for a great video

A great novel series is the Jomsviking series by author Bjorn Andreas Bull-Hansen, I enjoyed reading how he describes life at the time, historically quite accurate. He describes, among other things, the betrayal of Olaf and the battle of Svolder.
I'm your subscriber to your channel since your beginning, and love to relisten to all your videos. Your work is superb with all those warriors history. Also I let the ads to play on all your videos, my way of help. Thank you Ollie. Wish good day
The greatest warriors of the Viking age were the Varangian Guards who were more professional, more loyal, more sought after & won more battles than the overrated Jomsvikings who rarely won and were treacherous af.
I know that whole "blood feud" thing is part of the point from their perspective but my god talk about a cycle of neverending violence. They kill you, you get revenge, they get revenge for your revenge, you get revenge for their revenge and on and on and on forevermore.
Haha, my family is from Altes Lager (Anklam) in Germany. This must have been a Jomsviking satellite village that housed their women and children. The ship graves there are all high ranking women. Could be Jomsviking women.
Your videos always deliver. 👏🏾 Guys, has anyone read OF DEMONS & MEN by C.E.OCHEJA? It's my favorite book of all time. It's an epic fantasy about African warriors. I don't read a lot, but I love this.

Very good question, could go either way, but vagn was described as the greatest of the jomsviking order very young, where as bjorn as more known for his exploits in real life but he did get the name Ironside after a duel with starkerd and his 7 sons fighting alongside Ragnar, really difficult one tbh I would probably go with Vagn but could go either way

I think they were ashamed of their actions, that is why they did not document it. The people they attacked did though.
A film needs to be made about this man and it needs to be in the same style and tone as The Northman
What a TERRIBLE movie. The Northman was written SOOOO BAD.
The Northman is just a Conan remake
Northman strayed so far from the true Hameth story. Plus it was mostly boring. 👎
