    Hello Everybody
    The bazel does not click for the purpose - under water the dom glass expands sideways and fixes the bazel . Happy and safe diving to everyone

    Excellent review mate. I really appreciate that you told us your wrist size, something that many people leave out when reviewing their watch. Also appreciate that you said how many bph the watch was. That's something that is often left out for these vostok reviews. Stood out to me that you included these pieces of information and made the review stand out. Two suggestions, include a lume shot and thoughts on how long the lume lasts and include photos of wearing the watch outside in the sun to get an idea of what it looks like in sunlight.
    I just ordered this watch a few hours ago for my first mech. Was worried the watch would be too big for my smaller wrist, but it looks great on your wrist and mine is nearly the same size (I think mine is 6 3/8"). I'll probably do the same pepsi bezel mod down the road, looks quite fantastic with the pepsi bezel.

      Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this long feedback. Will definitely try to incorporate lume shots in my next videos. I also bought a scale : I want to be able to tell how much a watch weighs on different straps for example. I hope you will enjoy your Vostok. I bought my aftermarket bezel here:
      rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.nl%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F232535218348
      Pay attention that the bezel fits the case of your watch. I believe that I purchased the bezel from the above link. This will bit the case 420. But please double check.

    The "Russian Federation" did not exist in the 1960s.....It was the USSR. I have 2 Vostoks arriving today!!!!!! Great history behind this watch.

    Great insightful video. You're knowledgeable and helpful. I have almost the same size wrist as you, smaller cases on dive watches are a necessity for me, but obviously there are limited choices. You covered all the bases it seems similar options for smaller wrists. I too wear and love the SKX013 and the Ray ii. I recently bought 2 amphibia (420268 and 420386) and I fell in love with them. I wear them on NATOs as well and I just ordered a Pepsi bezel and an orange planet ocean style bezel so I'm looking forward to the modifications!
    There is just something about the amphibia that makes it special. It fits me perfectly, I love the history, and it's just so unique. In a world where homage diver watches are plentiful, the amphibia really has its own identity and stands out in a great way. Again I haven't had them long, but I'm astonished by how accurate and consistent they are. This may change over time, but both of mine are fluctuating less than 5 seconds a day, which is significantly better than my Orients.
    This has likely already been said, but I wanted to share something I found out about the domed crystal. It was designed in that shape and they chose that specific material as a way to inexpensively increase the water resistance. As the watch goes deeper under water, the soft acrylic pushes inward and down on the gasket, creating a better seal. So the watch has a dynamic water resistance and it is given this degree of freedom/movement to adjust to the depth. Just brilliant and fascinating in my opinion.
    Anyway, great looking piece you have there! Thanks for sharing the info. From a fan in North Carolina.
    Stay up Sir,
    Benjamin

      Thank you Benjamin for your input! Thanks for your compliments. Means a lot. Regarding the Amphibia. I know there is a lot to the Amphibia. Its history is great and its design is very smart! Mine is also aging well.

    Just got mine today in the post, it looks fantastic and I must have a good one with regards to timekeeping as it hasn't lost or gained much according to my Casio Waveceptor. I'll be getting a new bezel either a blue one or the one in your video. Thanks for all your information, I followed it to the letter. I don't think the date changing is that much of an issue using the method you've shown. There are other videos showing how to hack the second-hand movement, but mine won't do it.

    Yes, the Stock Bracelet isn´t even half decent.The newer Oyster Style is quite good and the Sharkmesh is really good. Both
    at a very reasonable Pricepoint at Meranom.
    I like the non klicking Bezel. Very easy to line up, very rarely turned by accident and you don´t have to perform a full turn to reset it.
    Date Quickset, yeah kinda sucks but isn´t needed that often, i prefer no date watches anyways and you get used to it.

      @@GadgetsforGentlemen I first put a rubber bracelet on my Amfibia. Then, I ended up replacing that with an engineer bracelet. A nice, solid stainless steel bracelet to match the watch. Very manly looking.
      I didn't hate the original Vostok bracelet, but it was a hair puller.
      My Amfibia is a cushion case, blue scuba dude that I bought in 2013.

    • @GadgetsforGentlemen
      @GadgetsforGentlemen  4 роки тому

      Thank you for your comment. The issue with the bi-directions in my opinion is: when I accidentally bang the bezel my timing goes wrong. For me the bezel slides too smoothly. A bit sturdier would protect accidental rotations in my opinion.

    Hi, did you use the original wire from the old stainless steel bezel when you mounted the new bezel? I bought the same from the ebay site, but I have difficulty installing the wire they sent me. I also have 420 amphibians. Greeting!

    • @GadgetsforGentlemen
      @GadgetsforGentlemen  5 років тому +2

      Hi Aleksandar, it was super difficult to mount the new bezel securely. I received a new wire with the aftermarket bezel. If you can’t install the new bezel, try to purchase a new wire, that might be easier. I found it very hard to align the wire correctly.

    Hello,
    As I´m going to be on vacation in Russia in a few weeks and want to buy an Amphibian there to have a memory and primarily to avoid custom taxes, I´d like to know from the russian part of the community in which local stores I can find Amphibians for good prices.
    If you can´t name any, even just which kind of store I should look out for would help me a lot.
    It would also be really nice, if you could tell how many rubles amphibians usually are (on the vostok page they are about 3800)
    Thank you in advance.

    • @GadgetsforGentlemen

      You can use the bezel to count the minutes that have elapsed. Align the arrow of the bezel (or minute 60) with the minute hand. Now the minute hand will point out on the bezel how many minutes are gone. Good luck! 😁

    Doesn't winding the watch backwards cause damage to the movement?

    • @GadgetsforGentlemen
      @GadgetsforGentlemen  6 років тому +1

      Hello, thanks for your question. I am not sure if I understood your question.
      To handwind the movement / to charge the movement I handwind the unscrewed crown in a forward direction (clockwise).
      I don’t think going back and forth in time to quickset the date in this particular watch damages the movement.

    • @gGBb27
      @gGBb27 6 років тому +1

      Yeah, I was asking about the back and forth technique.
      One of the first thing I've learnt when I got my first automatic was don't wind the movement anticlockwise while setting the time, so that's why I had to ask.
      Thanks for your answer.
