- The Vostok Amphibia dive watch has been around for decades, with very little changes. I think it's a perfect non-perfect watch, that offers amazing value for your money.

The bezel is made that way by design as well. As you increase water pressure it will lock your bezel in place the deeper you go. I tested this by diving with it and it's accurate.
thx mate ! didnt know that ! 🙄
Thank you!
@@mikewazowski6161 it wasn't for you to be told.
Love my amphibia (profile pic) - tried a ton of straps and settled on an isofrane which totally suits it. Modded the back (scuba dude design now) and the bezel which is a vintage import from Ukraine. I also bent the bezel spring to make it super-tight since I rarely use it and prefer it fixed at 12. They are really special watches for the reason that they are pretty imperfect which adds tons of character.
I couldn't agree more, it is perfectly imperfect! Thanks for watching Tom 😊
Excelent video Aviv. I bought my first Vostok 25 years ago!
Total underated watch. Nice piece for the price they want
Absolutely 💯
Congratulations on the new watch! I love how the dial shade changes in different lights. Sometimes it's aqua blue, sometimes it's blue-green. :) Beautiful b-roll shots!
Thanks a lot Eve, I have to say that your review is one of the reasons I wanted this specific Amphibia 😁
@@MyAffordableWatchCollection Awww 😁😁😁
I ordered the exact same Vostok that you reviewed in the video. It arrived yesterday and took roughly 1.5 months to get to me (I ordered it on the Meranom website). So far I'm really enjoying it. I did remove the original bracelet and installed my own NATO strap. Have to say, it's slowly becoming my favourite watch in my collection. I've got another scuba dude watch from Vostok and am considering to probably add more to my collection, maybe from the Komandirsky line. I enjoyed your review and the different straps you used on the watch, especially the blue red strap. It brings an extra pop to the watch 🙂
Hi Jacob!
Thank you very much for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed my review!
Keep enjoying your Vostoks - there are really great fun 😊
I have that exact watch and I'm incredibly happy with it. I wear it regularly, and have come to enjoy the quirks. My Vostok journey started with a Kommanderskie that I bought in a small shop in Boston on a date with my wife. It's grown to a collection of five, this being one of them. They're great and you can't beat the price point.
I absolutely love this watch. I've had quite a few Vostoks and this is the only one that stays in my collection.
Great video very informative and honest review, this is one of my favourite pieces I actually love the imperfections
I brushed the bezel and case side’s think it makes it more photogenic less reflection
Those imperfections give them character!
Thanks for watching Heath, keep enjoying your Vostoks!
Really beautiful watch I probably will buy it for myself, but I really enjoyed the review because now I have a better understanding of the watch so thanks .
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed my review!
It's an amazing watch! I have the same with a 710 case and a jubilee flat end link bracelet. It's really comfortable
I love it 😊
Aviv, nice "Strap Show". I have two Vostok watches, Komandirskie 211398 bought at Ebay-crashed after 2 months. The second is a Komandirskie 650546 from Meranom and changed bracelet to a blue strap. Looks impressive on wrist, Vostok dials are colourfull and strap friendly.
I really love my Vostoks. I have a Komandirskie too, and another vintage one with a vibrant red dial. Thanks for sharing!
Great review. I've got the same watch in my collection. I really like the history behind this watch and the price is low for an automatic. I don't mind the bracelet but have been on the lookout for a replacement bezel.
I agree, it's a great affordable watch with loads of history. Thankfully replacing the bracelet is not a big deal. Thanks for watching and keep enjoying your scubadude!
I am interested in other enthusiasts opinion: Is this system really a true compressor Watch? Does not have the double Compressor crown. Only difference I see is how the bezel is turned…..inner dial vs standard outer ring bezel as in classic dive watches. The magic happens as pressure increases & how the design allows water resistance to increase. Fine review Sir!
Hands are short on a lot of Soviet designed watches, like the Raketa Big Zero. The Amphibia crystal is domed, compresses under pressure, and can move half a mm. If the second hand touches the crystal, the watch stops.
Bracelet made of stamped steel like AK47. Light is good. The sharp corners can be rounded with file or sand paper. I find the bracelet comfortable. Soviet vintage bracelets are made the same way. (It is a classic Amphibia and has a classic bracelet.)
That's Soviet officiancy! Thanks for the information 😊
great review of a great watch. i had few amphibia watches over the years. basically i got them, modded the hell out of them, and sold them few weeks later. it is like after modding my job here is done so no reason to keep it. the bracelets are terrible. i didn't even bothered removing the plastic off mine and threw it away. very fun affordable watch. i don't think it is underpriced. since the Russians are experts in cost effective production, i don't think it costs much to produce. it is made this way to be cheap and still work well enough. not perfect but acceptable for the cost.
I personally prefer keeping this one original because I like it the way it is (minus the bracelet). Thanks for watching my friend!
Enjoyed the review - I have several Vostoks and have modded them all. Modding is half the fun of Vostok collecting. The blue dial seems to vary in colour from watch to watch. Mine is more teal/green than blue but I have seen others that are very blue.
They tend to look different in different lighting and a bit different on camera too. Either way they are vibrant and fun!
Great review with some excellent photography 👍 . I bought my first Vostok last year, now I have three and don't wear any other make 😁 . I find the lume on the hands lasts through the night, so you can get a rough idea of the time.
Thanks for the kind words, keep enjoying your Vostoks!
Hey, you are back!
I personally prefer the no-dates do I won't have to wait a month to wear it again. Also, it looks like the seconds hand is actually shorter than the minute hand? I guess as it doesn't hack reading the precise second doesn't matter anyway and cause it's a diver the focus is on indicating that it didn't stop running.
In Soviet Russia you don't have to be precise, just strong!
Where did I go?
@@MyAffordableWatchCollection
Oh, just noticed it was a regular weekly upload... Must have been a long week, lol.
@@Alias_Anybody lol, it did take a couple of days more than usual but I haven't gone anywhere 😁
Agreed, Komandirskie bracelets are way better than Amphibias. Meranom sells Komandirskie-like bracelets for Amphibias with end links, which makes it way comfortable.
Thanks for the tip!
I have the same exact watch only mines a KGB one the band is kind of light but it’s comfortable and my watch is very accurate. I will mod it a bit.
It's a great modding platform for sure. Thanks for watching 😊
Hi Aviv, love your watch stories, well done. I'm looking to buy this watch and I wanted to know where you got that gorgeous blue/red/white/blue strap you have on tis watch. Its a prefect fit and I cant seem to find one like that anywhere.
I found it on AliExpress - always a great source for watch straps. That strap is one of the cheaper ones and you'll have no problem finding it.
Thanks for watching and for the kind words 🙂
You can tighten the bezel by bending the wire inside it, it's quite a quick fix.
I don't really mind it but thanks for the tip!
I love my vostok Amphiba and komandirskie so cool
Awesome, I love mine too!
Nice vid Aviv. 👍
Doing only desk diving nowadays, I appreciate the bezel rotating freely either way 🤷🏻♂️
Have to get a 420 case 😍
Does your Amphibia have the hands corrrectly aligned?
Thanks Dan!
I'm only a desk diver too, and yes, they seem to align perfectly.
What's the orange strap? It looks great as a contrast to the green/blue face.
Why do Vostoks seem more prone to being magnetized instead of stuff like Orient Mako, Seiko 5?
IDK for sure, possibly material chosen. Your local watch shop should have a demagnetizer, if you ever find the need.
This bracelet is not constructed of folded links, this is the updated newer version with solid links which is way better than the one you seem to describe even though you have in your hands something else. Did you write the script yourself? Nowaday also the clasp has been updated and the date frame too. Not a bad video at all though if it wasn't for the usual stereotypes.
My bracelet most definitely has folded links. If you look closely in the gaps between the links you will see the folds. Maybe it's hard to see in the video, but I assure you they are folded, otherwise I wouldn't have said that (because yes, I wrote the script myself).
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
@@MyAffordableWatchCollection I see, in this case you might be right, I didn't take a look inside but only the outer side of the bracelet that looks solid. I don't know, I think it's not that bad, just different but right for this watch. The previous though was really cheaper but maybe with a more consisten design.
@@Leo-Crespi still one of my favorite watches in my collection 👌🏻
Mine stops every once in a while, and when I wind it to make sure that isn't the problem, doesn't start until I tap it a bit.
Sounds like it needs to get serviced
Good review man.
Thanks Kristian 😊
I'd LOVE a Vostok but the shipping to my country from Russia or USA is almost the same price as the watch.
That's a shame 😔 maybe you can find it used from someone in your country?
@@MyAffordableWatchCollection People in my country don't have style hahahaha. I'll keep an eye out for a free shipping option. I'll get one at some stage!
LOL, Good luck!
You can propably use it as a weapon. Man youre so fast xd
40mm? It looks more like a 38mm case size. I think the thick beezel makes it look smaller.
Definitely 40mm, measured more than once on my calipers.
420 is 38mm ;)
I have just checked again, it is 40mm 🤷🏻♂️
