Sooooo many apples on my trees on my hunting land here in S, WI. Crazy how they did this year, even my chestnut trees are doing well.

My neighbor told me he saw a a giant frame deer with a big sticker off his right side cross in front of my barn and head straight to we're i just planted my food plot! I don't have a camera out yet but I'm going to have to get one up cause i have a big white oak dropping acorns in my plot and there keeping them cleaned up! And i about forgot, the direction the big buck came from i found the biggest persimmon tree I ever seen on the edge of a big ol thicket that boarders my property and its loaded down! Getting excited this yr! And just like buckwheat my wife doesn't let me get baked or cracked out either, lmfao 😆😆

Tactacam fan here as well but I’ve found my moultrie mobile cams seem to outlast the battery in the tactacams. Still a great product though. Love the channel and thanks for what you do Jeff.
I bought the cheapest batteries and use the solar panel . Still at 100% battery going on 2 months already 100s of pics

Great video. I like starting my plots around august 5th. Most of the stuff im planting this yr will b planted mid to late august. Planting peas rye wheat oats and some brassicas. Not all in the same plot. And yes i remember the old trail cams that took film. That use to be a pain getting them developed
Hey Brother. I have all my chores done, I think, and I am concentrating on getting good reps with my bow. I checked the card in my trail camera last week and got some more great pictures of my target buck "Stubbles". About a 4 year old 8 point here in Northwest Indiana. It's about to be on.
Man that's a great feeling...so cool with Stubbles 😁 We plant everything for Fall on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday...can't wait!
I just seeded my back 1/4 acre plot with some brassicas…now that we got nailed with some good rain last night, I’ll have to hot wire the whole thing. The second those leaves start popping up, they’ll be mowed down to the dirt. Won’t be pulling those lines until Oct 1st. Man oh man, I’m looking forward to this season!
Big ones haven’t showed up on my property either. They tend to come around late august-September I’m finding. The fall shift occurs and brings them out of the woodwork. Lots of small bucks running around though keeps the cameras ticking.
just got the x3.0 pro a few weeks ago. few bugs, but now its up and working. great camera!! still also running the original reveal camera as well.

I’ve had one singular picture of a shooter buck all summer. Plenty of young bucks and does. Hopefully fall will change that

Got my fall food plots in just before a good rain in northern Wisconsin. Still a bunch of odds and ends to get done and only 4 weeks left to get it done before my hunting season starts. It’s coming so fast! Thanks Jeff!

Put out a camera on my waterhole this afternoon. Happy to see a 300 gallon tank over half full in light drought conditions. Top it off in mid September and wait for opening day.

Jeff, I’d love to see a video on what setting you run each of your seeds at using the Earthway bag seeder. Seems like I can never get it perfect and run myself short on seed!

@@jakegeissler2228Start on a really low setting and make extra passes if you have to, so you don't run short on seed and over seed

Have you noticed mature bucks bedding closer to corn in late summer and moving to their historic bedding area after harvest?
Hi Virgil...I actually see the opposite...well at least where they bed during the summer. We see them over here near alfalfa or beans, and the larger the black of corn the less they are near those areas. Then they move to standing corn and good food plot areas with heavy unpressed cover during Sept/Oct

Hi Lee! $3950 per day and I've narrowed down where I work over the past few years, considerably. However, I have 3 others that go to parcels too and their fee is $2950. Dylan, Joe, Kevan and Wes. They each have their own areas and they also fly to clients. Together we go to about 300 parcels per year and I will go to about 80 next year. All my clients are scheduled each month in 1 trip out of 1-2 hotels in certain states, typically 8 clients in 9 days.
Everything is scheduled thru Jessi at jpilger.whs@gmail.com and we will begin scheduling for next season (beginning in December) next month.
Its really tough for me. I do all that work, spring and summer plots, then all the work to get the fall plote ready and then in the ground and all for a two week window at the end of September, first week of October,maybe second week if im lucky. My bucks leave my property around mid October and dont really return until March. Cant figure out why. They have all the food they could ever want. My property is the center of they're travel in spring and summer but the closer the rut gets they start leaving. Does remain year round. So my fall plots are really for them. I have a small area of bedding but most of my property is travel and food but its enough. Just have a small window to get that target buck on the ground.
With regard to Trail cams, have you moved on from Exodus altogether?

It is, if you need to fill in holes. I've designed the blends to give you a very good stand tho 😊 May not have to use it!
I have a cell camera that will be in the field for 2 years this September that is still at 100% battery life. I have it set to send me pics once a day, and videos by request. It also runs on 16 Ultimate lithiam batteries 😂
Can I get some tips for pine Forrest my favorite spot to bow hunt is mostly all pines. And they just did a controlled burn.
Definitely hunt the outside edges! Mono cultures like that have very little value to wildlife in any way...or at least very little definition of change or edge to funnel deer within.
I would look for what is going on, within the habitat outside of the stand of pines. Edges that come together to form lines of movement and natural deer movement into and out of the pines. The outside edge of the pines is also an edge and a line of movement. So where the outside edge of the pines comes in contact with the lines of movement coming into the pines, is also a great place to hunt.
I installed my first 300 gallon waterhole in the ground about 3 weeks ago and all the deer approach it and mostly run away like they are scared of it. Anyone have this issue?
We have had that in the past when sticking above the ground...but rarely when buried below grade...
Not seeing hardly any bucks yet in western WI. High hopes for the next few weeks.
I've been using your buckwheat method for the last 4 seasons. Normally after 6 weeks the buckwheat is 3 to 4 foot tall. I planted June 25th and right now it's only around 10 inches tall. What happened and what should I do now? I do have bad soil mostly clay from having my pond dug, but the buckwheat has always done great. Trying to decide what to do now that its failed, and I need to get something planted for deer soon. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks (Northern Indiana)
Are you spraying glyphosate 1 week after seeding into standing buckwheat now? I've seen your other videos where you spray right in front of the cultipacker.
Southeast Mississippi:
We planted clover/chicory mix in spring and it did not make it. We have a 3-day velvet season coming up in mid September. Each plot is backwoods style with some having full sun but most partial. Thought about doing winter rye. You said wait an extra month. What can we plant end of August to try and have something up for Sept 14th for the 3-day velvet season? Or is is okay to do winter rye at that time? Should we add anything else to it?
Notes: we limed after soil in spring.

Hey Jeff, vine question-have you noticed deer not using the vines branches for a period of time in summer? They were quite interested in the one I put up back in spring,but noted around mid june they really didn't pay much attention or only intermittently. Any experience with that where you hunt? Great vids and education, thanks
Hi Jeff, would you say that the buckwheat method inhibits some germination of your fall plots? I struggle a little committing to it. I know it's right but I struggle. What is the rate again?
I think it can if folks let it get too tall. If you stick with spreading into it when it is waist high, you will have exceptional germination rates. If you seed into when it is chest high you will have below average.
What I've found easiest for folks to gauge is to just smash it all down first, wait a week to 10 days and then seed into it. You get 100% seed to soil contact and great germination rates. You also can then address bad broadleaf weed concerns like pig weed, water hemp and smart weed. We hit it with a combination of 1 pint per acre of 2-4D with 2 quarts per acre of Glyphosate....wait a week to 10 days and then plant.
You still get the smother crop effect, greenhouse effect for holding moisture during the summer, erosion protection and soil building properties.
We also have built our seed blends to make them much easier to germinate by simply throwing them on the soil before rainfall. We smashed our buckwheat down 7 and 8 days ago, and then will seed in 2 days, right before expected rainfall. If rain wasn't coming for a week we would wait to seed, but we are well into waiting 7-10 days after spraying 2-4D to control some tough broadleafs in spots.
I hope that helps! I tell folks waist high seed into...chest high seed after, but a lot of folks miss that part. Seeding after eliminated dome risk but you have to be on your plots 2 separate days tho

How would you go hunting an early season buck coming out in a hayfield where you just had permission to setup on the edge of the field?
Great question Drew! I would continue to watch him up until the season...even the night before or even shining (if legal) after dark to see if and where he is coming into the field. Then I would sneak in and do a hang and hunt opening day afternoon...knowing I likely get 1 shot. I may even push a bad wind direction slightly, because as each day passes into the season, the likelihood of him holding onto that same Summer pattern is slipping away quickly.

Hi Nathan! I don't use 2-4DB only because I love having chicory in a perennial blend. It will kill the chicory.
After we spray 2-4D I wait at least a week before planting, with 10 days being more optimum.

I’m going to plant my first ever food plot next week in southwest Wisconsin (Crawford county). I hope that’s the right timing. It’s a brassica mix from domain (big sexy). Does that sound like good timing based on your experience since you’re also in Wisconsin? I hope a rain follows it and it catches.

No, and we have a lot of turkeys! Could it be The size of the plot or a lack of rain? That's a lot of turkeys tho 😊👍

They had 3 bad models. During the process they sent them out to a bunch of "yes" people for testing. We aren't yes people, so we let them know how bad they were and offered to buy the old design. Well...they got a lot of other consumer feedback and went back to the original 😁 AND...we will have great things coming in cooperation with Earthway soon 👍
