Had same issue. I opened it cleaned it with alcohol and q-tips and it started working exactly like what showing in this video... now I have to keep the switch pushed half way for a second before it start drilling. This worked for me and still working :) good luck guys
I had the same symptom...drill a small hole at the base of the trigger switch and spray inside the switch with contact cleaner. The drill consistently works, but time will tell. It's a potentiometer problem. Nice video Steve!
Real life troubleshooting. Not sure if you fixed it, bu you kinda knew what the issue was, I can appreciate that. I have 2 M18 Cordless Drills, one fell in the lake, it only goes in reverse now, although did work okay for awhile.I did buy a new one so I may experiment with that one using this video and see if I can fix it. Very usefull info
You could just bypass the variable speed and at least have a drill that works at full speed. I've done it in the past and they are still working. Then only use your replacement drill when you need variable speed.
From what I have noticed the temperature blinking is a strobe. From lack of contact on temp pins. This is a all four solid blink. I have this problem any idea what to look for when I do open it I don't know what u jumped
Brushes on this model's motor are non-replaceable. Motor ran fine when bypassing the speed module, so it was the electronics, not the motor. Part was too expensive.
I have a M12 CPeD cordless "punchdrill" which had a ripped wire for the thermal sensor, which resulted in non-function at all. I noticed the ripped white wire after disassembly and soldered it back on the terminal. The drill sprung directly to life, but now I have another problem. A small copper-piece, nearly v-shaped fell out and I have no clue, where that piece goes. Anyone with the same "problem", or maybe a solution?
bought an m12 combi drill driver last year, arrived faulty, the trigger would fail. The replacement began doing the same thing a few months later, the chuck always loosened too easily, wouldn't grip properly, it was underpowered and now the chuck has failed entirely, won't hold anything, the drill spins internally but the chuck does bugger all. This piece of junk has had about 10 hrs actual use, if you could call it use, only way to get it to do anything initially was switch between forward and reverse until the forward would actually work.
Supper? What is this 1880 at The Walton's house 😂 But anyway yeah thank you for the video it was very informative and I appreciate you sharing your knowledge 👍🏻
Guerro that's the weird thing about it. I could never get to consistently work. Banging it didn't seem to work. In the end I determined it was not a motor, switch, or brushes issue, it had to have been the pc board, and for the cost of a new board I bought a whole new drill off eBay. They're cheap on there if you're willing to buy the bare drill with no charger or batteries, and just use your old ones.
I accidentally tapped 2 ends of a Mosfet and ended up notising that it would work when i would tap 2 of the posts together > So I searched the chip and ordered it in case that's what it was. Only cost about $2 for a pack of 10, shipped from Singapore or whatever so i just have to wait. I bought the drill specifically to repair it so I figure I'll try. The motor is good so if anything I can use it for parts.
I have a M12 Fuel Cordless Hammer Drill. All of a sudden it stopped working. While prrssing the trigger it rotates a little than stops and than all the 4 leds starts to flash. Any fix??
@@pheehzero thanks mate I'll do that. My mate gave me it. He said he dropped it over a fence probably half a metre off the ground (on the grass). It should have easily been able to take that. I think a wire or connection may have come loose. But I'll also look for any parts that need reflowing. Thanks again mate 👍

Thanks for your help. I concur with your process . Appliance Doctor in Annapolis MD

They have a 12 volt, looks almost the same. M12. Model 2407, the batteries are 1.5 amp/hours.
Great video even if you didn't fix it. It's working now. I've got the exact same issue, I just hope my outcome is the same as yours.
I measured mostfet with no problem but pulling the trigger got no power

From everything I have been reading , did you check the contact between the battery temp pin and the socket for that inside the handle?
No. Didn't know that could cause this issue.

Dead spot in the motor or bad connection?
You're spiel about intermittent problems around the 8:00 mark hit home for me as an appliance repair man
Wonder if the brushes could be replaced, have you tried?

Try contacting Milwaukee even if they won't service it they might make the parts available to you worth the time it takes to email

Just spray WD40 in the trigger and reversing button, no need to take it apart
i see where you and it starts
It has a 5 year warranty
I Had same problem clean temp pins
It's the brushes. U CAN replace them, lots of labor and time. Epoxy. It's a bitch for sure!
Correct 💯
i have a new circuit board, trigger and battery connector for this exact drill, if you are interested!
Thanks for the offer, but I already replaced the drill. Not even sure I still have the old one.
I’m interested 😅
only me and i have the same problem
I measured mostfet with no problem but pulling the trigger got no power
So... can you show us what exactly you did to "short" it and get it to wake up?

You have to look closely at all the heavy wire connections...the is an area that has some resistance to the current needed.
I just got given the exact same drill from a mate and it's doing the exact same thing as you describe Raj. Did you ever diagnose the problem? Cheers
@@DIYDumpRat Milwaukee gave me a replacement.
@@DIYDumpRat Look at all the heavy wire connections...when they over-heat they get a high-resistance and need re-soldering.
