😡😡😡😡 Bro, I lost literally 2 months worth of conversations because of this advice!!!! The last whatsapp backup from within the app was 2 months ago - because it was stuck on preparing for the entire time. So i followed your advice and used the icloud backup. I was confident that it had backed up because the storage amount in my icloud backup for whatsapp was the same as being displayed in the app But apparently not! 2 months of conversations have been lost
When switching over to a new phone Your supposed to offload WhatsApp back up your phone so when you get on that new phone and you log in your iCloud all of your apps n data will start to pop up just how they were on your previous phone … this only happens if you choose to transfer your back to your new phone when setting it up … all the offload apps will then show up and all u have to do is load them back and everything will be there

I actually recommend people to keep backup from app on and untick whatsapp from the icloud backup because whatsapp is generally very big around 12 gb mine and my friends as it contains years old videos and unnecessary photos. Keeping backup only of Whtsapp keeps photos and chats backed up. The issue you shared does not come when you shift to another iphone. When you transfer data to another iphone you get option to transfer whatsapp which will properly transfer the whole data to your new iphone.

Good suggestion but...the point is if we just wanna backup and restore whatsapp (not including other apps), this method that you recommended will be backup/restore everything on your iphone that we don't want to. am I correct?
You can just backup WhatsApp & not other apps. Below the “Backup Now” option which is shown in the video, you will see your phone’s name. Click on it and select only the apps you want to backup… In your case just WhatsApp! Toggle off other apps and you’re done!
I had similar issues on iPhone ios 16 recently - when I try to run WhatsApp backup is just displays Backing Up Preparing and stucks there forever. I tried multiple suggestions like removing the WhatsApp backup in icloud, resetting networking settings, disabling icloud backups for WhatsApp etc ... None worked until I did an ios update and the WhatsApp backups started working without any issues.
Do not use this advice UNLESS you can restore your entire iPhone from iCloud backup still. This only works when you set up your new iPhone. If you cannot do that (anymore), ike me, because of my company managing my iPhone, the internal whatsapp backup works fine. It just needs a lot of room on your old iPhone, as well as icloud, to finish uploading all your media.

its not the right way how you explained because lets say you damage your phone and you buy a new phone you should do iCloud backup and when you open your WhatsApp it will show you when the last time you backup your whtasapp even if your iCloud backup it was same date but on your whtasapp backup chat a week old so the WhatsApp will restore a week ago not like the iCloud

I’m pretty sure what you just explained isn’t the correct way to backup WhatsApp! I think it will work only if you factory reset and setup iPhone afresh or setup a new iPhone. Will it work if you just delete WhatsApp and install it again? I don’t think so.

Whatsapp is currently occupying 10Gb, but the iCloud Backup whatsapp size part is 18Gb! How is this possible? Hey everybody! Take it by the easy and totally cost free way! No need to purchase any third party app. The best way is to backup your iPhone (in the file manager or iTunes on older MACs click back up all data - it's important) connected with cabel to a MAC or PC and than conect the new Iphone and restore it from this backup. All solved! Forget iCloud restore, that's not precise and is likely to forget cards, Whatsapp, etc.
