I could buy a nice sailing boat for $80k but it would take more than a $Million,+++ to get my wife on board anything smaller than the Queen Mary

Thank you for another awesome video. I would love to see a video on how to use an iPad as your main instrument cluster - interesting idea.

It would be nice have your opinion on dinghys. Inflatable, nested, home builds and so on. Great episode.

Just re-watched your trip down to the Caribbean and back Tim. Was just as good. I've been subscribed since you were at 12k subs or so. It's awesome to see your subscriber count start to go exponential. It's well deserved.

If one could have the styling and sea worthiness of the HC combined with a blend of the good bits of all the others, then the World is your lobster and comfortably, I would suspect

Hey Tim, l have missed these. Great episode, l recently upgraded from a 1969 Halvorsen 32ft cut away full keel to a 1994 Beneteau oceanis 400 in Australia. You still pay 90kusd here.

The Beneteau 393... I had one but sadly had to part ways with it. If you get the 2 cabin version, you'll be set in style! The aft cabin is spacious and you don't have to cram your guests in the V-berth. They get a pullman berth and their own head.

  • @bitsurfr46

He makes a good point about not insisting on a Bluewater boat. When he reviewed Beneteaus recently, he classified a coastal cruiser as a boat designed to go no more than 200 miles offshore. There are plenty of places on the east coast of the USA to explore, including the Chesapeake Bay and the Bahamas that fit into that category. I live in Florida and have recently refitted a 1983 Pearson 303 from the inside out. I have every confidence that she will take me everywhere I want to go.❤

Did a lot of work on a hunter 45 passage. Extremely poor engine access. The earlier models have a fiberglass arch that is notorious for leaking causing core rot. Nearly impossible to fix without completely replacing the arch with a stainless one. Very liveable interior though.

Hey Tim, Things are kinda different out here in BC. Quite a limited choice locally, and large duties
taxes and fees if a person imports from Seattle etc. I sail the protected waters but fish now
and then on the west coast near Bamfield. There is some famous trail along there for some reason.
Thanks for all the great videos!

I am still dubious of Hunters... they are such amazing value. The 42 Passage is the one which has really caught ny eye... but for you and the other people who say they are good boats... so many say the reverse. I am so confused.

For an ocean crossing boat, where is the sweet spot between having enough weight to be comfortable and needing a full keel?

Question: why are the teak decks dreaded on the Hans Christian boat?

    • @LadyKSailing
      @LadyKSailing  Рік тому +3

They have thousands of screws holding them down and tend to leak, and are a lot of work to keep up with. People always want to remove but never want to do all the work, and this person already has :)

Okay I have to ask, why are you plugging Hunters so well? Is it because Hunters got a bad wrap? Myself I'm not to impressed with the swept back spreaders. It causes problems with the wing on wing or just the main sail. Plus I heard that they aren't to good at heading into the wind. And to me these are very important things not to over look. But yes they usually have all the amenities that you want on a sailboat, but those damn swept back spreaders. Is it easy to change those swept back spreaders or is the undertaking not worth the time. Or have you heard of anyone trying such an adventure. I know the chain plates will have to be changed also but is it worth it? I would appreciate any news about this little adventure. Thank you for your videos.

That one wasnt a B&R rig was it? I am not a fan either. I repo hunters sometimes to make people mad but mostly to make people open their eyes to all possibilities. No one should be a gatekeeper to sailing. Any sailboat is better than playing golf ;)

I really like your show. But I’ve got to say that Morgan is in California. It’ll cost you I don’t know 10 to 15% just to get it to the United States (from my perspective, California is no longer in the United States, but in this case, I’ll give you some slack and say the East Coast of the United States) maybe more than that maybe not. You possibly could put it on a semi truck and ship it to the East Coast because they’re all running empty coming back from sending boats from Europe to the West Coast.
