Sorry for the aggressive title, this bike is actually super sweet. Its just a shame that this euro 5 tune took the aggressiveness out of 1st and 2nd gear.
I dont know man. I think this 2022 xsr 900 is the best xsr900 so far and it gets upgraded from any perspective. I don't own it yet since I cannot find one but I have heard a lot of good reviews already. For the price, you get almost everything you want from a retro bike!!!!
Oh yeah. I think this is the greatest $10,000 bike ever made. For that price point I don't think anything comes close. I love it so much, it's so fun, great in so many situations and good at so many things. Looks great, sounds great from the factory. I've gotten used to just working around the weird second gear mid-range. It doesn't bother me that much anymore and if it really did I would just get a tune.
Damn, I only have 800 miles on my 22 mt09.....I was hoping not to flash it, but it looks like I'll have to........I was definitely wondering why first gear power wheelies were easy as hell, but it didn't really wanna bring the front end up in second........makes total sense now!.....thanks for the video dude!
if I had to guess it's drive by noise regulations. There's a speed and a gear they have to pass by a mic. Cars with automatics can play with shifting to make them quiet. Porsche almost was unable to sell the 992 gt3 manual in California but the auto did pass the test
Certain amount of particles being pushed out of the bike at certain RPM's. I believe the scientific name for the substance that is being measured for is NOx. Noise actually has very little to do with EURO5/EURO4/etc. While it does fall victim to it, cause the stock exhaust has to do a lot more catalytic converting nowadays and automatically resulting in less noise lol.
Could you measure for me the width of the handle bars from end to end if you ignore the mirrors and slide guards? I have a skinny door but I already put my deposit and I'm praying it'll fit. My r1 did.
I picked up my bike in the UK a couple of weeks ago and hadn't noticed this issue. I took it out again and opened it up in second from 2-3k....and nearly fell off the back. 2 - 5k is over in an instant. Maybe this only affects American Market bikes?

I’m sure Yamaha, as well as every other motorcycle manufacturer is acutely aware of our complaints. Fact is this is the result of emissions regulations and the manufacturers are just playing along with what they’re told they have to do At least for now flashing, and getting the potential out of motors is relatively easy Until they start requiring emissions testing on motorcycles after purchase, this isn’t going to get any better
I've had mine for a couple weeks, and ya 2nd gear is not the best, but 3rd gear certainly makes up for it. Plus you have a quickshifter that works really well. Keep us posted if you get it adjusted.
All bikes from now on will require a tune to unlock them. With Euro 5 regulations we will get the bikes in a state of tune required to pass regulations, nothing more nothing less. If you buy a bike today, you are getting about 65-75% of the bike's protentional. You'll need to get the bike (or at least the ECU) to a qualified tuner to unlock it's full potential.
Gonna have to check mine... But it feels solid in 2nd. I've only run mine up to D-Mode 2. I wonder if it's got full power in mode 2. 100% after watching you saying full-throttle in 2nd gear.... I can barely hold on if I did that in D-Mode 2 2nd gear. I don't think I've ever once full-throttled it. Mine is Australian market... Not sure if they might be different where you are. Definitely check D-Mode 2!!
I know I replied to your other comment and I assumed you were in the states. Yeah I'm super curious if the Australian Market has a different tune. I doubt it but that would be crazy. A good test would be to give it full throttle without leaning forward in second gear at 5,000 RPM. If it's cutting power it won't feel super crazy and the bike will not power wheelie. On the old mt09 any RPM in second gear feels insane and you probably are going to power wheelie.

Yeah I know they will do it and people are happy with that tune. I'm just trying to avoid shipping it out because it looks like a pain in the ass to take out the ECU and put it back in. I'm the least handy person when it comes to tools
@@noahhenry2370 supposedly from what I’ve heard they have to prove what you did was the problem also if you have a good repor with your dealer they can choose to just say it wasn’t tuned.

Guess In the coming months I’ll decide if those flat spots in the power band annoy me enough to get it. I also got an MIVV x-m5 exhaust so probably should get a tune even though it says it doesn’t need it.
When I initially got my 2017 r1 I had throttle response gripes. I mailed my ecu off to Bauce racing and when I got it back the bike was transformed. I think he does this platform as well but I'd also maybe get an exhaust to maximize the gains he can pull out of it. You could also just go to a dyno but we don't have one in our area and he tunes tons of bikes all day.
Good move - night and day experience after an experienced pro has properly flashed and tuned it on the dyno - best in combination with a full Akra system and a sport air filter😉🏁🏁
I have 2021 mt09 and 2nd gear drove me nuts. Sent ecu to vcyclenut. Not only is 2nd gear great now, but he improved everything else. It's the beast it should be.
Hi ! YAMAHA usually do the XSRs more calm than MTs in the ECU , they think people who buys XSR dont search the "Badass " reactions on the bike, so they "Tame" the bike reactions with the same torque and HPs. Sorry for my Bad english!
Maybe it's because I'm not used to a big bike as I've only had my XSR900 for a week, but it feels pretty fast, I'm still running it in so I've not even gone over 5000rpm in any gear, and I'm in mode3 with all the other stuff set to max, I know they said they made 2nd a little longer on the new models so maybe that doesn't help either? Okay from what I understand it's not the euro5 thing that's causing the problem in the first 2 gears, it's the US regulations combined with euro5 so I guess I don't have that problem being in the UK
Interesting, yeah I know this issue is documented on everyone's bike in the states and in the UK so far but I'm wondering if there are separate tunes for other markets. Yeah if you're still breaking the bike in you'll never notice it. If you spend a couple weeks really riding it hard like an animal and testing Full Throttle in every gear at every RPM and really playing around with it you will notice there is something weird with second gear in low RPMs. Third pulls harder than second in the mid range. Second gear doesn't open up until above 6500 RPM

Chapparal Motorsports in San Bernardino. I had to put a deposit down for 3 months to get it and it was $1,200 of markup. Not sure if that is good or not for you but every other dealer wanted $3,000
Would doing a sprocket change 1 less in front, and 2 more on rear fix that? I know it will drop the top end speed a little, but it might be an easy fix?
Just get it flashed. After getting it done once, it will be the first thing I do on every bike I own. Proper fuel/air and electronic handicaps gone is priceless
I should do that. I got the extended warranty so I could cover all of the electronics and stuff like the quick shifter. But so far it's been flawless but then again it only has 3,000 miles on it

Yes, it's super noticeable if you're used to using second gear in the lower RPMs but having almost owned it's one year now it doesn't bother me at all I just ride around it I hold out first gear to almost red line all the time which puts me in the Power Band in second
My 22 xsr900 is the first bike I have owned that I have not felt the need to heavily modify right out of the dealer. Other than a tail tidy. and maybe a Corbin seat in the future. I would like to tune and pipe it but I will actually wait until my extended warranty is up. But I have owned a few bikes that I tuned and piped and voided the warranty within the first month of ownership.
I feel the same way. I have an extended warranty just so the wonderful quick shifter and electronics are covered lol I'll do a tune with an exhaust after as well
Get a Flash from Moore Mafia or Bren Tuning The Electronic Restrictions are Crazy. This bike isn't Ruined, it's the Same Exact bike it was. There is just an Electronic Limiter that will be gone with a Flash. You don't need an Warranty, it's Yamaha it will last for Generations. You also need a Full Exhaust system to unlock the full power Check Moore Mafia too understand how they Cut Powers.

No it was actually for noise emissions apparently in the US. Is a specific thing they test in a certain speed and RPM. I've gotten used to it by now. I just use first gear a lot more. I hold it out pretty long about quarter throttle even when I'm just cruising around
wonder if it's fixed on the '23 models? It's probably a safety feature or the Lift control is on. I can imagining 2nd gear is AWESOME.. maybe too dangerous.
Cp3 is kinda mix of 2 and 4 cylinder inline which has the balance of torque and top speed (my point of view), I heard in the video that your prev xsr 700 was way more powerful in terms of acceleration, it might be the characteristics of the engine. Just my thought about the issue. :) BTW Just drove my friend's new XSR 900 (Same as yours) and no issue with the performance, I think it's how you twist the throttle haha.
That was in a very very specific situation. It's only in second gear from 3 to 6,000 RPM. Other than those exact RPMs in that exact year. The xsr-900 is way quicker accelerating then the 700. Above 7000 RPM it's an animal in any gear. I was in no way saying the cp2 accelerates quicker under actual zero to 100 circumstances
Full M4, full Akrapovic, full Arrow with a Sprint filter, ECU flash, and all the stupid Euro fraud will be removed. No worries about the warranty, as a reputable tuner (vcyclenut or 2wdw) will have that engine running much more safely overall than the factory sets them too. As if running lean is good for a warranty.
@@delavorexindustries2698 They have two main filters offered as a significant upgrade in flow. Their max flow is the P08F1-85, but I would not recommend that for everyday use, only for drag racing and competition. Everywhere else you'll want a more robust filtration for the common dirt and debris, and that's their P08. Both will filter dirt very well, but the high flow version is designed to do one thing and one thing very well, and you have to make concessions for debris filtration to do that.
If only it was that simple. I turned everything off the first day I got the bike. I thought it was that too when I picked it up but if you look at Dyno videos for the CP3 motor after 2021 you'll see that the actual throttle is limited in first and second gear
That's like saying have you checked if the TV is plugged in. Of course that's the first thing I tried. It's really easy to turn all the systems off. Maybe I should make a follow-up video explaining why manufacturers do this. It's actually noise emissions.
Euro5 and all of it's thou-shalt-not-have-funs means Yamaha had to calibrate the throttle-by-wire to be stupidly lax in the lower RPM. You can twist to the stops all you want, the ECU will never operate the actual throttle anywhere near 100% at lower rpm.
Yeah I'm wondering what the purpose was doing it in the first two gears and then not having to cut power in three through six. There must be some weird testing they do in the low gears at Mid RPM.
More people know what an mto9 is then an xsr 900, no one knows what this bike is in the real world. Every motorcyclist asks me what it is and that's how I explain it. It's yamaha's retro styled mto9. Other than the looks they're only slightly different. They're about as different as the charger and Challenger On the internet people know what it is but I included in the title for better reach
If they were going to limit power they wouldn't let you access the full power especially near Red Line. As long as you're above 7,000 RPM there's full power in every gear straight from day one
I had a 2018 CB1000R with the exact same issue with gears 1-3. It was 4th that was unlocked. It SUCKED!!!! I didn't know anyone that could unlock the ECU and reflash it. This is a common problem with fly by wire bikes. You tell the ECU to give you WOT and you get what the bike allows instead. This lean surge with a motor under load being asked to go WOT was handled with a flood of gas into the system. I remember old mechanical systems would pump a jet of fuel into the carb when you asked for WOT. Rich running for that moment eliminated the lean surging and flame out condition. Today they simply won't allow WOT in lower gears where this condition exists so they don't have to run rich. It sucks and I miss the ability to hoon in second gear in a predictable manner. That vtec feel is not acceptable in my book. I have a Blue XSR on deposit and this news about the 2nd gear not being fueled as it should really burns me. I know that ECU hacking is getting tougher and tougher as manufactures are going to encrypted systems. I hope they can crack this one. I may have to pass on the XSR if there is no answer to change the throttle butterfly response to wide open when in 2nd gear.
The bike is so damn good that I think you will like it to spite that issue. There are two very popular tunes for this bike right now. I'm not sure how much it fixes the issue but people seem to like it
That's like the tech support person saying is it plugged in. That's the first thing I tried lol this is a known dead spot with the stock tuning on these bikes I found out. It doesn't really bother me anymore but it is still there and would be better with a tune.
Y'all know nothing about Bikes and Regulations. The Restrictions are nothing more than a few unwanted things like O2 sensors and catalytic Converters which are removed usually at home with some expertise. There is also an Electronic Limiter that can be removed easily. The Engine, chassis, Suspension everything is indentical
So I have a 2022 mt 09 sp and I have the same issues. what I have noticed is a better response in second when I start in first and bang through the gears, if I roll on from 2nd at 3-4K I see the same issue your having. But if I go full throttle from first into second there is more torque in 2nd then if I’m doing a roll on from 2nd alone. Also I have purchased the extended warranty as well so I’m not thrilled about having to tune it either. But I’m gonna look into a tuner that I can adjust my self if I need warranty work and go back to factory settings.
Yep you're in the same boat as me. It doesn't bother me that much and I usually just work around it like you said but I will eventually find a tuner around me to where if I need warranty work we can put it back to stock

It’s the same one I had for my mt 07. I spoke with a tech on the phone he told me should be out dec maybe January at the latest. I’ll link you the website address in a sec.
If it were only that easy. I tried that day one. I've had the bike a month now. It's the tuning on the bike. You can clearly see the restrictions on first and second gear if you look at a dyno video of this bike

It's a known thing on every bike. Some people don't notice it because it's still very fast and it's only between 3000 and 6000 RPM you still get full power above 7,000 RPM in second gear no problem.
Yamaha really dropped the ball on the (third gen MT-09) in many ways, and now the XSR. First of all, they couldn’t get the product out until the ‘21’s were almost a year old. Secondly, the tuning is horrible like you describe. Even the new XSR’s are bad, that tells me that Yamaha is rushing product. Third- they’re STILL pretty much impossible to find and dealers are screwing their customers by overcharging them for anything that says Yamaha on it. There are a ton of low mileage ‘21 MT-09’s for sale. That speaks volumes. This third gen is one to stay away from unless you like ugliness, bad tuning, rattling engine sounds, recalls and horrible MPG’s. FZ/MT-07 still outshines it’s big brother.
I wholeheartedly disagree with most of this comment. I think this generation is the best one yet. As a former xsr 700 owner I can confidently say this bike is in a completely different league with the handling, fit and finish and excitement of the engine and sound. I'm curious where you're located because in California it is absolutely impossible to get most naked bikes of any kind especially a yamaha. If you want a Yamaha naked you better be ready to put a deposit down for at least a few months. I think the tuning for this bike is magnificent for regular riding and in every gear besides second in the mid-range. It's just a power problem which can be unrestricted with a cheap Flash
I totally disagree too. I own one and have previously owned the XSR700 and no way it pulls harder in second gear. Second gear is a regulations issue not a Yamaha issue. When looking to upgrade my XSR700 I rode the monster, Z900, street triple and BMW scrambler and nothing was anywhere even close to as much fun as the XSR900. The tech, the power, the torque are all there but most of the time when revs are lower it’s a perfect cruise. Get the revs up and get on it and it’ll do the beans.
I disagree 100% with most of this as well. I traded in my 2016 mt 07 that had a full m4 exhaust and a stage 2 dna jet kit with a full tune and my 2022 mt 09 sp is 10 times the bike that was it was slow and handled like trash compared to the mt 09. Don’t get me wrong I love my mt 07 it was a great little bike but it doesn’t outshine the gen 3 mt 09 in anything….
Yes, I found it very odd. I think it's a big deal. If you watch Zack courts review this bike on RevZilla on The Daily rider video he did recently, there is a small couple minute part of the video where he mentions this as well. For everyone who goes on one ride for a review with this bike it's almost unnoticeable and the bike is so fast that if you're just riding it normally there's no way you would notice that on the first ride. It's when you start getting comfortable with it and you are ready to just whack the throttle open in second gear and you start comparing that to third gear is when you start to notice this weird difference.
As a "professional reviewer"/influencer, you don't want to upset the manufacturer. It's like this with most things and it's hard to find a good and honest review unfortunately.

Just get it tuned. Make it alive! A tune will not hurt the bike. Screw the warranty. I have never had a issue with a reliable tuner

Looking for some documents on it I think the test is 12 mph to 50 mph in second at WOT if the torque hole lines up then that's probably it

Are you sure this limit is worldwide? I don't recognize this from my bike and I live in Scandinavia. I will have to test this. =/
The bike is so fast you really have to test those rpm ranges back to back full throttle in mode 1 to notice it
Mine in Australia doesn't seem to have this limitation. Everything in D-mode 2 or 1 is wild and totally excessive.

Heard lots of good things about vcyclenut. You have to ship ecu, but they have decent return times. Not sure if they have anything for the 2022 though

How many miles is done on this bike? Maybe it's a power limiter or something that is there until your first service (600 miles) ?
Its not. I'm at 800 miles. The first services is done. If you look at dyno videos of this bike, 2nd gear throttle is limited in the first two gears

Some changes had to be made to the engine for euro 5 compliance hence the tuning you're experiencing.

It's a mapping issue, if you look at videos where they're tuning it second gear only allows a percentage even when you're going wide open throttle

I should do that. I got the extended warranty so I could cover all of the electronics and stuff like the quick shifter. But so far it's been flawless but then again it only has 3,000 miles on it

Yes, it's super noticeable if you're used to using second gear in the lower RPMs but having almost owned it's one year now it doesn't bother me at all I just ride around it I hold out first gear to almost red line all the time which puts me in the Power Band in second

My 22 xsr900 is the first bike I have owned that I have not felt the need to heavily modify right out of the dealer. Other than a tail tidy. and maybe a Corbin seat in the future. I would like to tune and pipe it but I will actually wait until my extended warranty is up. But I have owned a few bikes that I tuned and piped and voided the warranty within the first month of ownership.
I feel the same way. I have an extended warranty just so the wonderful quick shifter and electronics are covered lol

No it was actually for noise emissions apparently in the US. Is a specific thing they test in a certain speed and RPM. I've gotten used to it by now. I just use first gear a lot more. I hold it out pretty long about quarter throttle even when I'm just cruising around
I’ve got the 1st edition from 2016 and it does not do this, it’s absolutely flying in those lower gears. That’s odd imo with this 2nd edition

It would probably be fine because it's a longer bike and the first year isn't as restricted as second so it's definitely not a safety feature
2nd gear on my 2017 fz09 is crazy, power wheelies on demand.
That's what I figured.
Cp3 is kinda mix of 2 and 4 cylinder inline which has the balance of torque and top speed (my point of view), I heard in the video that your prev xsr 700 was way more powerful in terms of acceleration, it might be the characteristics of the engine. Just my thought about the issue. :)

That was in a very very specific situation. It's only in second gear from 3 to 6,000 RPM. Other than those exact RPMs in that exact year. The xsr-900 is way quicker accelerating then the 700. Above 7000 RPM it's an animal in any gear. I was in no way saying the cp2 accelerates quicker under actual zero to 100 circumstances

Full M4, full Akrapovic, full Arrow with a Sprint filter, ECU flash, and all the stupid Euro fraud will be removed. No worries about the warranty, as a reputable tuner (vcyclenut or 2wdw) will have that engine running much more safely overall than the factory sets them too. As if running lean is good for a warranty.

@@delavorexindustries2698 They have two main filters offered as a significant upgrade in flow. Their max flow is the P08F1-85, but I would not recommend that for everyday use, only for drag racing and competition. Everywhere else you'll want a more robust filtration for the common dirt and debris, and that's their P08. Both will filter dirt very well, but the high flow version is designed to do one thing and one thing very well, and you have to make concessions for debris filtration to do that.

Euro 5 regs really mess things up. My ‘16 xsr900 had decent fueling from the start. Look at the mt10 with 2 cats now. Crazy.
Skip over to Moore Mafia channel and check it out. You'll see the throttle percentile maps and realize how little the ECU actually gives throttle.

If only it was that simple. I turned everything off the first day I got the bike. I thought it was that too when I picked it up but if you look at Dyno videos for the CP3 motor after 2021 you'll see that the actual throttle is limited in first and second gear

Turn your lift control off. That's why its weak on the low end.
That's like saying have you checked if the TV is plugged in. Of course that's the first thing I tried. It's really easy to turn all the systems off. Maybe I should make a follow-up video explaining why manufacturers do this. It's actually noise emissions.
Maybe this is only the case with xsr and not the mt09..and 2022 models. The 2021 versions had also recalls for the ecu, but it still pulls..
Euro5 and all of it's thou-shalt-not-have-funs means Yamaha had to calibrate the throttle-by-wire to be stupidly lax in the lower RPM. You can twist to the stops all you want, the ECU will never operate the actual throttle anywhere near 100% at lower rpm.

Yeah I'm wondering what the purpose was doing it in the first two gears and then not having to cut power in three through six. There must be some weird testing they do in the low gears at Mid RPM.

More people know what an mto9 is then an xsr 900, no one knows what this bike is in the real world. Every motorcyclist asks me what it is and that's how I explain it. It's yamaha's retro styled mto9. Other than the looks they're only slightly different. They're about as different as the charger and Challenger

If they were going to limit power they wouldn't let you access the full power especially near Red Line. As long as you're above 7,000 RPM there's full power in every gear straight from day one

They did, this is the greatest bike I've ever owned. I'm just nitpicking in this video and after a year I can ride around this issue easily
I had a 2018 CB1000R with the exact same issue with gears 1-3. It was 4th that was unlocked. It SUCKED!!!! I didn't know anyone that could unlock the ECU and reflash it. This is a common problem with fly by wire bikes. You tell the ECU to give you WOT and you get what the bike allows instead. This lean surge with a motor under load being asked to go WOT was handled with a flood of gas into the system. I remember old mechanical systems would pump a jet of fuel into the carb when you asked for WOT. Rich running for that moment eliminated the lean surging and flame out condition. Today they simply won't allow WOT in lower gears where this condition exists so they don't have to run rich. It sucks and I miss the ability to hoon in second gear in a predictable manner. That vtec feel is not acceptable in my book. I have a Blue XSR on deposit and this news about the 2nd gear not being fueled as it should really burns me. I know that ECU hacking is getting tougher and tougher as manufactures are going to encrypted systems. I hope they can crack this one. I may have to pass on the XSR if there is no answer to change the throttle butterfly response to wide open when in 2nd gear.
The bike is so damn good that I think you will like it to spite that issue. There are two very popular tunes for this bike right now. I'm not sure how much it fixes the issue but people seem to like it

That's like the tech support person saying is it plugged in. That's the first thing I tried lol this is a known dead spot with the stock tuning on these bikes I found out. It doesn't really bother me anymore but it is still there and would be better with a tune.

Y'all know nothing about Bikes and Regulations.
The Restrictions are nothing more than a few unwanted things like O2 sensors and catalytic Converters which are removed usually at home with some expertise.
There is also an Electronic Limiter that can be removed easily.
The Engine, chassis, Suspension everything is indentical
So I have a 2022 mt 09 sp and I have the same issues. what I have noticed is a better response in second when I start in first and bang through the gears, if I roll on from 2nd at 3-4K I see the same issue your having. But if I go full throttle from first into second there is more torque in 2nd then if I’m doing a roll on from 2nd alone. Also I have purchased the extended warranty as well so I’m not thrilled about having to tune it either. But I’m gonna look into a tuner that I can adjust my self if I need warranty work and go back to factory settings.
Yep you're in the same boat as me. It doesn't bother me that much and I usually just work around it like you said but I will eventually find a tuner around me to where if I need warranty work we can put it back to stock

If it were only that easy. I tried that day one. I've had the bike a month now. It's the tuning on the bike. You can clearly see the restrictions on first and second gear if you look at a dyno video of this bike

Get a full Akrapovic exhaust system and pay a visit to an experienced Pro (Chris Moore for instance) and you will be amazed what the flash and the adjusted fueling does to your bike😁🏁🏁

The new one I just got definitely doesn't have this power problem in 2nd. I'd suggest you go get it checked by Yamaha.
It's a known thing on every bike. Some people don't notice it because it's still very fast and it's only between 3000 and 6000 RPM you still get full power above 7,000 RPM in second gear no problem.
Yamaha really dropped the ball on the (third gen MT-09) in many ways, and now the XSR.
First of all, they couldn’t get the product out until the ‘21’s were almost a year old. Secondly, the tuning is horrible like you describe. Even the new XSR’s are bad, that tells me that Yamaha is rushing product. Third- they’re STILL pretty much impossible to find and dealers are screwing their customers by overcharging them for anything that says Yamaha on it. There are a ton of low mileage ‘21 MT-09’s for sale. That speaks volumes. This third gen is one to stay away from unless you like ugliness, bad tuning, rattling engine sounds, recalls and horrible MPG’s.
FZ/MT-07 still outshines it’s big brother.
I wholeheartedly disagree with most of this comment. I think this generation is the best one yet. As a former xsr 700 owner I can confidently say this bike is in a completely different league with the handling, fit and finish and excitement of the engine and sound. I'm curious where you're located because in California it is absolutely impossible to get most naked bikes of any kind especially a yamaha. If you want a Yamaha naked you better be ready to put a deposit down for at least a few months.
I think the tuning for this bike is magnificent for regular riding and in every gear besides second in the mid-range. It's just a power problem which can be unrestricted with a cheap Flash
I totally disagree too. I own one and have previously owned the XSR700 and no way it pulls harder in second gear. Second gear is a regulations issue not a Yamaha issue. When looking to upgrade my XSR700 I rode the monster, Z900, street triple and BMW scrambler and nothing was anywhere even close to as much fun as the XSR900. The tech, the power, the torque are all there but most of the time when revs are lower it’s a perfect cruise. Get the revs up and get on it and it’ll do the beans.
I disagree 100% with most of this as well. I traded in my 2016 mt 07 that had a full m4 exhaust and a stage 2 dna jet kit with a full tune and my 2022 mt 09 sp is 10 times the bike that was it was slow and handled like trash compared to the mt 09. Don’t get me wrong I love my mt 07 it was a great little bike but it doesn’t outshine the gen 3 mt 09 in anything….

Yes, I found it very odd. I think it's a big deal. If you watch Zack courts review this bike on RevZilla on The Daily rider video he did recently, there is a small couple minute part of the video where he mentions this as well. For everyone who goes on one ride for a review with this bike it's almost unnoticeable and the bike is so fast that if you're just riding it normally there's no way you would notice that on the first ride. It's when you start getting comfortable with it and you are ready to just whack the throttle open in second gear and you start comparing that to third gear is when you start to notice this weird difference.
