That pair tournament idea sounds super interesting! I’d love to see something come out of that one day, though I imagine there’s a high barrier of entry with team entrants + the skills that come with teams play. For many players, it’s already hard enough to think about their own hands. Still, tons of potential there. Good interview!
3:33 its quite relatable. SG mahjong is like a friend game like a gathering to talk to each other and be sociable, no one is actually super competitive trying their hardest to win. Riichi mahjong i treat it as a competitive game to put some thought into my actions. Hence i also like riichi abit more than SG mahjong when playing.
