I was told that only ceramic palettes wouldn't bead up, so I've always used a cheap dollar store plate! glad to know the mixing wells on my palette don't have to be useless

Huh, I always like that, I use it intentionally to put different pain colours in small droplets so I can mix in very specific amounts - like, taking one droplet of blue a time to mix into a yellow puddle, to make a very controlled shade of green.

I’ve read that using a melamine sponge (Mr. Clean Magic Eraser), if you already have one, works really well too.

I want to get into watercolors in the very near future. I am learning sooo much from your shorts and feel like I am 10 sets ahead 💝 when I do start I can focus on the art instead of trying to figure out what works and what to use.

This is so cool! I don't use watercolour often but I always thought this was just a feature of the medium. I might have to bring out the paints to try this

Thank you! This is very helpful! I have a question though, would sanding it down gently with some smooth sandpaper fix the issue as well or is it too harmful for the palette?

    • @LeslieStroz

I haven’t noticed a difference. Staining colours will always stain more, but I use baking soda to reduce that. 😊
