- UPDATE: It seems that the pathfinding has been changed since I made this video. The trap still works but it's much harder to get it in. Best advice I can give is don't go too far ahead of the trap, keep the rex close to you.

Can confirm this. Tried for about 20 minutes to get the Rex to go into the trap, but it just kept going around the trap instead. Tried different distances from the rex as well. Biting the feathers on my argies hind-end, and comfortably standing behind the trap waiting. Both ended with the rex going AROUND the trap.

I tried this one for the second time last night and was having trouble leading it in with the argy flying slow and close to the ground and even hovering over the trap waiting for him and it kept going around. What did finally work was having the argy walking him in. I had the argy sitting between the two little walls and the rex was chomping on my butt a few seconds and when he bumped me through he followed and got himself stuck. Both times I've used this trap it's worked perfectly once the rex is in it. Just takes a little fiddling around to get them in, but with how cheap and simple it is to set up I think that's a reasonable price to pay.

I mean I’ve been using “his” traps long before he uploaded them. “His” argy trap for ASA I came up with long before he even posted an argy trap at all in ark survival evolved

Haha, I wish that were true, but I think they've actually reverted the pathfinding to the old system. I'm not sure if it's permanent or temporary.
This is insane. I knew beams would be great for traps but this is just ridiculous. Great discovery by you as always!
It would be easier if the pillars snapped side-by-side like in ASE though 😆
I see pillars n walls but no beams. He used a beam system to space but picked em up.

I watched the first stream you did, trying to figure out how to build a Rex trap, and I've gained a new level of appreciation for the work you do.
There were soooo many solutions, but you rejected them all because they weren't simple enough, or had moving parts, or used too many different types of structures.

I remember subscribing to this dude because of his innovative simplistic traps in ark. And I dont play ark too. My pc cant run the old ark let alone this new asa. I can't believe that works! I'm super impressed once again by the Fatdog genius, but in a sense I'm also disappointed that ASA hasn't given dinos a bit more realism in being able to step over a quarter wall. Doesn't mean I won't be using it though. Cheers big ears 😆🍻

Oh man, you’re the guy that invented the argy trap! I was trying to tame an argent for the longest time and got frustrated. (Not a lot of Dino’s and didn’t have any fliers.)

I have doubts in the non-flat area, but on the beach or green plain I have to admit, this is more than great!
If you add 2 more quarter walls to the other two pillers, so all 4 face inwards and remove the 2 upper pillers.. you have the perfect Tickle Chicken trap.. even works for tamed ones.

Well I didn't actually beat the system, they made some changes to the pathfinding. I'm not sure if it's just temporary though.

I use a tanky argie walking it in. Takes a few attempts, but worth it.

Not sure if they changed the AI again yesterday (reverting some of the post release change they made a few days ago), but I could not lead the rex in with an argy hovering on the ground and going just high enough to clear the front two pillars. The rex would consistently walk around. I was about to give up and just start shooting it on foot (after double checking the video to make sure I built it right) when the thing lost interest in me and wandered over one side of the trap and trapped itself. Couldn't get the rex to budge from any direction once it was in the trap so the trap works flawlessly if you can get them in. I guess my advice to anyone trying and struggling is to just stick with it and hang around the trap and eventually it will wander in. I built it on the beach and it was on a slope with the front of the trap higher than the back and that didn't seem to alter its effectiveness. Happy hunting!

The trap still works! It's more difficult to get the Rex in there but it still works! Currently taming a 75 Red and Black Male for base defense PVE

Well, that didn't take long. After your 2-hour stream the other day I know we'd have working traps before Thanksgiving for a bunch of stuff.
I’ll just build a paddock to tranq my Rex on Carnivore Island, that’s where I farm my 150’s for flyers and land creatures. Using 3 gate ways is dumb lol I’ll even build a paddock even for Gigas. Hate ways saves resources but not fun that way lol

Its the Walls and Doors etc that are pathfinding issues, Or just use a honey throw and bear. But you can do a similar thing with pillars and the pathfinding doesnt cause it to run arouund.

@@captainfatdog Worked for me. Rex and Thyla.. the Rex walked right in side and couldnt pass through them. closed it off.. Not sure what else to say. it didnt path around the trap.
