I know you will be glad to have your cameraman back, but you have done a wonderful job with your videos. I have enjoyed each and every one. Thank you for sharing your information and talent. Best wishes from Tennessee.💕
I love your advice about not letting your plants boss you around. I find myself repeating that to myself every time weakness sets in. Thanks to you my garden looks so organized now. I am ready for the next growing season to start.
Ok LV people ... Whoever recommended the book ✨UPROOTED✨... Thank you 🧡🧡🧡.... It is among the best books ever !!!! Oh my goodness ... I don't have words for the amount of pleasure and comfort this book brought 🧡🧡🧡🧡 thank you🙏
I love your channel! Thanks so much for all you share. I would love to see you demonstrate how you prepare your large topiaries or plants for the winter.
Linda, this is brilliant! I love the ‘splash in the pool’ idea. I have used insecticidal soap but it has a bug spray kind of smell. This is so much more natural. 😍
Oh my goodness, the timing of this video is PERFECT!! One of my daughters has gone to stay with her sister and husband for a few months in Mystic, CT. and she has left me with several succulents to take care of! They have been sunning and happy on our back patio, but this week the temps in Kentucky are going to drop! I have never brought plants indoors before and after watching one of your videos, realized I needed to clean them first...This was just the video I needed to see!! My plan was to get started on this tomorrow...So, I will run out and get some mild, organic soap and have at it!! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!! See ya on Wednesday for your "walk about"...AND, Stewart!! LOL
Just want to take the time to say "thank you" for all of your planting advice and encouragement. During the Covid isolation period, you were a big relief from loneness not only for me but friends that I got on board with viewing you on UA-cam. I live in Zone 9 A (North FL) and cried when I learned those beautiful, purple alliums would not grow here! Keep up the good work with the videos.
Very helpful video. And I need to comment on that striking gray post & fence in the background; such a unique but good choice. It let's the plants and the other garden elements stand out more. I might steal that idea someday! 😁 I'm heading to the compost site to drop off bags of vigorous pruning and removal of tree volunteers in my flower bed. The young Locust trees and their spikes took revenge on my legs and arms. The squirrels "planted" Black Walnut trees everywhere. Maple trees galore everywhere too. 🙄 My dwarf Honeysuckle sent new shoots/plants everywhere in my rock garden, after years of being happy where it was. I think the neighboring River Birch grew large enough it made the Honeysuckle want to move toward more sunshine. I cleared almost half of the area and reclaimed the boulder they hid with their overgrowth. It just started freezing overnight in Central Minnesota, and most of the leaves are still on the trees. I love Fall, but it's a very busy time for yard work. Have a good weekend everyone. 💜
When we had the last big heat wave in Florida a few weeks ago, I brought in several plants to keep them from dying from the dry heat. Welk, surprise, I haven't had any bugs, but I have captured and released 6 tiny little lizards this week. I'm sure a couple more are lurking, so hope the will manage any insects I missed. It always amazes me how differently we have to tend our plants from one state to another! And honestly, I prefer the lizards🙂
I fear earth worms lizards and frogs (and eggs) would die in the soapy water, so I'm torn. That's probably much less likely with stone mulch, but very likely with the bare soil on my tropical plants that are outside when it's warm. I'm in a humid zone 7, where there's an abundance of skinks and frogs.
Thank you for this information I will give it a try because I have brought tree frogs and salamanders into the house before and during it your way will help keep out the critters
Linda, I enjoy watching your videos. They are all lovely. The only part I mute the video is the sound of your cute car screeching. If I may suggest, is it possible to replace it with cute beep beep sound? :)
Thanks for this great idea! Hubby already brought the plants into our semi-heated garage! next year I will do this for sure....He said he checked the plants and removed whatever he saw, but I like your technique! You did well even without Stewart! Have a great rest of the weekend!
Linda, please explain how you care for your outdoor topiary in the winter (water, feed, etc..). I’d love to see a video on this. I have two small boxwood, a lemon cypress and Rosemary topiary. I’m planning to leave outside here in north Texas zone 8a, but will move to sheltered area on nights that freeze.
Thank you Linda, great timing. I have many tropicals that I was debating if to bring indoors but was worried about all the insects that I would be inviting in or if to risk leaving outdoors and hope they survive 7B winter. Will do this and overwinter in my bathroom, so happy you did this for us.
Before knee replacement, do exercises for the knee like sit-stands, or tailgating, which is sitting on a raised surface and swinging your legs. Things that you don't do before surgery will be harder after surgery. Good luck. Both my replacements went well.
Great information and advice. Your garden space is always so inviting. I have several potted herbs and small vegetable plants to bring in. I live in Zone 6a and it has been unusually warmer here for this time of year. I love the topiaries and plan on adding some next year.
Thank you for a very informative video, Linda! And your camera work was just fine. For the taller topiaries, could you use a tall garbage can? Of course, you'd have to have some kind of rope system or rack to lift it out of the garbage can, but ... maybe. 🤔 Thanks again for the videos, Linda.🌸🌿
I love this video! Will this process be safe for other potted plants such as pentas, sunpatiens, gerbera daisies, coleus, celosia (dragon's breath) and a few others? What is the ratio of water to soap? You are doing a beautiful video job!
2 questions: 1. After the soap soak, spray and drain...do you rinse off the plants with hose? 2. What is the soap:water ratio for the spray? Thank you so much.
Yuliya of "Y Garden" channel recently posted a video on her very similar process. She had 50 plants! I took cuttings from my coleus plants and will clean the three plants I took in.
Hi Linda, what makes the water blue, am familiar with Dr. Bronners but it is not a blue based color. You mention soap mixture but what else are you mixing w that Dr . Bronners please ?
A tbsp for that tub full of water?a how much would u use for a 5gal bucket or a lil larger? I have prayer plants, rabbit ferns, and succulents,ect..should I do this with those?I put some in the house and the over flow in the basement..I don’t think the cactus or succulents can but all other plants..like snake plants ect I’ve had on the screened in porch.lthanks
Good info Linda thank you so much…I had a good central leader on a coleus and I’m going to try a topiary…have you ever tried with coleus? Also wanted to share I do defoliate Lantana Standards that I overwinter inside in cool bright area to help with preventing bug attacks.
I’m hoping my first topiary I’ve ever had makes it through the winter. I put it in my unheated north facing sunroom. I do open door from house to sunroom during the day but totally cold out there at night. It’s an Eugenia topiary and I’m worried it’s not getting enough sun. I’m in zone 7 In Tennessee
Loving your channel from here in England. Can you tell me the name of the little blue spreading plant on the right at 9.26 in the video. It looks like a thyme but I can only find them in white or pink here. Thank you. Keep doing what you’re doing!!!
Thank you so much for posting this! I am wanting to bring a sansevieria inside to stay and wasn't sure how to get rid of bugs. 1. Since they don't like to be in wet soil, would this still be ok for plants like sansevieria? 2. Do you just strain the bath water and pour down an indoor tub or do you drain down the driveway?
I think a one time situation with a Santa Verey’s I would be fine. I would just pour the water into the grass or the flower bed or wherever. When she strained out the bugs, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Precioso JARDIN!
I know you will be glad to have your cameraman back, but you have done a wonderful job with your videos. I have enjoyed each and every one. Thank you for sharing your information and talent. Best wishes from Tennessee.💕
I love that you share these chores with us. It’s better when things aren’t “perfect”💕
I love your advice about not letting your plants boss you around. I find myself repeating that to myself every time weakness sets in. Thanks to you my garden looks so organized now. I am ready for the next growing season to start.

🌸🌸🌸LOVE IT. ... A luxurious plant bath. 🌸🌸🌸
Thank you for this video. I’ve read about this method but I feel much better seeing you do this.
Linda, this is brilliant! I love the ‘splash in the pool’ idea. I have used insecticidal soap but it has a bug spray kind of smell. This is so much more natural. 😍

You could not have timed this more perfectly. I’ve been trying to figure out how to debug my citrus trees that have been outside. Thank you!!!!
Thank you Linda! This information is right on time! 🪴

Thank you so much for addressing this ❤

Still raining here in Norcal with occasional breaks & sunshine. I love it! We need it so much. Thank you Linda.

I hit the end of season sale at Walmart and scored on fertilizer and watering tools!
I have to check out the Walmarts in my area.... thanks for that information
Thanks for this great idea!

You probably don't think your camera work is very good, but you r doing a fine job.

Great demonstration.
Good job with the video Linda. Look out Stewart! She’s getting pretty good. 😉
I just did this last week. Thanks!
I'm finally seeing cards up top. First time ever.
Your hubs must be doing well from his knee replacement to consider a hike. Good to hear- I probably have at least one knee replacement in my future.
Before knee replacement, do exercises for the knee like sit-stands, or tailgating, which is sitting on a raised surface and swinging your legs. Things that you don't do before surgery will be harder after surgery. Good luck. Both my replacements went well.
Wow. That’s a lot of work and I tip my garden clippers to you! Great info. Thanks.

Your camera work is not bad. Love the explanation. Love from sunny Sydney, Australia.

Wow! Fantastic idea! Thank you Linda for the informational video!! No outfit if the day though?? Just teasing:)
PS: The only thing I want for Christmas or my birthday is your book. 🙂
Does the soap need to be rinsed off the plants after soaking? Water until soil rinsed of soap?
great educational video. love this and your camera work is just fine. happy weekend.
Hi Linda, what makes the water blue, am familiar with Dr. Bronners but it is not a blue based color. You mention soap mixture but what else are you mixing w that Dr . Bronners please ?
Was just attempting to figure out how to bring my hibiscus in. Has a lot of ants on it.TY for the information.
Thanks for the great video, good information!

Do you bring your smaller boxwood topiary inside for the winter or, put in the greenhouse?
Excellent video and so timely. Does the soap need to be rinsed off the foliage?
Do you find the gravel you use as mulch and top dressing your plants holds the heat in your very warm climate?
What were you wearing? I miss the fashion show at the end...
Would you do ‘‘this for all potted perennials that you have to put away for winter ? Bougainvillea, etc.
Good info Linda thank you so much…I had a good central leader on a coleus and I’m going to try a topiary…have you ever tried with coleus? Also wanted to share I do defoliate Lantana Standards that I overwinter inside in cool bright area to help with preventing bug attacks.
Can I (or should I) do this procedure with my potted lavender? Thank you

What about plants that don't have gravel for mulch. Won't the soil mix with the water in the tub and make a big mess?
What can I use as a substitute for the castile soap? I only have 1 pot to bring in.
Loving your channel from here in England. Can you tell me the name of the little blue spreading plant on the right at 9.26 in the video. It looks like a thyme but I can only find them in white or pink here. Thank you. Keep doing what you’re doing!!!
I actually like you as the camera man better maybe if you used a tripod & set it up so you could show more hands on gardening 👩🏻🌾
Do you rinse plants after they had soapy spray and dipped
How much of the Quine soap do you use.
Can you do this with geraniums also?
Look like the are sitting in a hottube😊
concentration of soap? Thank you!
Is this safe for all types of plants?
A tripod would work for your camera or phone
Was that a cigarette butt I spied floating in the bowl?😳
Good info, thanks. Is your green area real grass?
No it's not
Thank you so much for posting this! I am wanting to bring a sansevieria inside to stay and wasn't sure how to get rid of bugs.

@@LindaVater thanks!
You do fine doing your own video's. ..I'm sure it's nice to have Stewart but just know you can do it too.🙄
Will a little bit of dawn dishwashing soap work? And then a spritz of name oil? Thank you! Great video!
Dawn has degreasers...too strong
