Great points, I've had a broker deduct 110 bucks because i refused to let them track my personal phone. All that matters is the load delivers on time like the old days we don't need to inconvenience driver doing their job. I had brokers call interrupting my sleep because they seen the load was stopped. Totally unacceptable.

So you just said what I have been saying for a while now. Someone real smart (not me) needs to come up with a carrier app that can be used by all carriers to list and review brokers. Why do brokers have a bad boy file and carriers don't. Sticking together is key. Safe travels, friends.

    Mr. Gilkarov,
On the issue of drivers being "late" to a shipper or receiver, one does see drivers bragging, even in writing, about 100% on time. One normally assumes they are full of sh** --- the central-most character trait of many in trucking, but what say you? To set up this question a little more, the industry and its pricing are based on a kind of one-load-after-another model, with little time in between, that is, little layover time, as it is often called. Throw any wrench into this schedule, and lateness can easily happen. And collision and construction delays often produce exactly such problems. It is also true that there might have been many extra hours, take 6 as an example, built into a delivery schedule. The driver takes it a bit easy, but then experiences a two-hour-long delay as the appointment time, or end of the window, draws near. Yes, such a driver can be said to be at fault for the lateness.
Anyway, what insights have you? Keep tractor-trailer drivers ever on edge? Now, in steps a broker, with artificial requirements that neither shipper or receiver much care about or even notice. How much time is even involved on most occasions? Minutes? At worst, pick up or delivery first thing the next morning. Not to promote lackadaisical driver attitudes about appointments, but it is one of the more irritating aspects of being a driver when dispatchers and brokers need to hear for the 187th time that, construction and collision delays are both commonplace and unpredictable. "Oh, but I planned your run time based on 50mph, even though you could really do 60." Is that enough thought and understanding? Is there some unspoken rule that 85 is the absolute maximum IQ for these people. I am being facetious. Some are better than others. But very many reject utterly the need to be flexible and to communicate frequent changes to the concerned parties, though doing just this is the only value added by (non-load-planning) "dispatchers," the only reason they have a paycheck. Again, what say you?

a good carrier will NEVER give direct contact with their drivers to a broker.. hell even giving contact with the customer is sus. thats what dispatch is for! its literally their job to manage all that. a driver drives, he shouldnt have to put up with bullshit from brokers and customers. owner ops are more involved obviously but plain drivers... nah. they should not have contact. even at delivery, thats what your dispatch is for... they have to arrange it all; driver just gets there and walks in with paperwork etc. none of that "have your driver call us 2 hours before arriving". no. thats your job. you can see where your truck is, confirm with your driver his eta and then arrange that with your destination for him. he is driving, he shouldnt have to deal with some warehouse clerk while on the road burning his hours
