The Last In Line - Dio Drum Cover

The Last In Line Album was Ronnie James Dio's highest charting album reaching #4 in the USA. Dio and the whole band reached a creativity that is not in today's music. Vinnie Appice who happens to be Carmine Appice's brother, is one of the best drummers ever in my opinion. I place him right next to John Bonham for creativity and creating what I call "Drumming Space." Drumming space to me is about creating openings in the beat where one is not expecting it. It's about working with the other musicians and everyone has space for little accents and moments to shine. The lyrics to me are spot on from a spiritual perspective. Hence, "The Last In Line." Yes, we will all face judgement. This tune has some odd time and interesting moments. I didn't capture them all, because I didn't really rehearse or study the song long, but I feel I came close enough. Thank you! High octane! Ha ha! Man I really thought this take was scrapped around one minute. Did you see the stick fly out of my hand? I was able to recover. At the four minute mark I kicked it in until the end to do a little less Appice and a bit more Moyer. Some really neat licks came out the last minute.
