The scene where pheasant found his wife's corpse was like something out of a horror movie.
Seriously, just imagine a slasher film where a dude accidentally comes across his wife's naked headless corpse, cooked and set up on a platter.
Jesus Christ! Thanks for the mental image! D:
Hannibal Lector would be getting some ideas outta this O:
Yeah, it's pretty horrifying.
I'm not surprised he manically cried his brains out there, if he was still alive, he'd be haunted by her corpse.
The first time I saw it, I cried a lot, I find fucking creepy does little mouses killed
Sounds about right.

Oh. My. God. Pheasant when he cries. The way he sobs...it just breaks my heart in a million pieces. Thanks, UA-cam!
I watched this 2 clock in the morning.
I have watched this when I was younger (although I remember getting upset and crying often) and I was defineately not prepared for the hedgehog-death and burst into tears.
Nothing, I repeat, nothing could've prepared me for Mrs. Pheasant's death though. Jesus, that was gruesome. I gasped, sat back and burst into tears again.
The pheasant's deaths made me cry when I was little and still do now...

I wish the pheasants made it to white deer park and here’s how I would think about this.
They would have 8 eggs sadly one doesn’t hatch and all hatch. A chick gets taken by Scarface
And our total is 6. One drowns and one dies from the cold winter. The remaining chicks make it
to the juvenile stage and live happily ever after and have chicks of their own.
Yeah but they must have been a good meal for the farmer
+Lemmy Koopa Sounds like a great idea to me. Maybe mr pheasant also slowly becomes nicer to his wife as the series goes on as well.
Poor Adder

@@Unifoseum Yes, they do. At least fertile eggs which result in babies.

True 😿
Poor Sinuous
Question, would she be still able to procreate? Remember when scarface tore her back?

The reason I clicked on this video is because my mom told me that when she was younger, she and her brother where eating there breakfast, and watching TV when this show came on. It was at the point where these 2 heghogs were crossing the street. They where trying not to curl up, so they wouldn't get run over. They curled up, of course, and died in the middle of the road. My mom and uncle looked at each other and changed the channel
Britain why the hell did you let children watch this
You have to face it eventually. It is a reality of life.
@@michaelatanasio223 Exposure of reality is good for children but, to an extent. This show was a little excessive. Children don't comprehend violence and death the same way adults do because their brains aren't even developed enough to cope with things like that. It can cause major issues for their later development.
Children can sometimes obsess over things that are so complex because they just don't have the ability to understand why, or when, or how such things happen. Even when they do, it can end up being detrimental.
My niece will literally have anxiety over the thought of death and what may happen after and she's only 9 years old.

The main reason I agree with Mrs. Pheasant's death as number one is that she made herself useful for him. Despite that she didn't get much happiness in exchange. He mentions that she found "grub" for her husband and even tried to put a few of Owl's feathers on her husband when he complained about losing his tail. To make matters worse, he calls her a stupid bird because the feather's don't match his. After those hints of how bad life was for Mrs. Pheasant, it was very hurtful when she died. I didn't really care about the husband Pheasant's death though. I still disliked him.

"As Sinuous was found by the evil rats..."
There must be some creative license in play, because those "rats" are the size of terriers.
I think what makes Pheasant's death particularly shocking is that is kind of implied that, with his remorse over his wife's death, he might have started becoming a nicer bird over time. But no, before that can happen, he gets shot himself in the very next episode - while trying to make amends for his lazy behaviour AND after seeing his wife's roasted body, no less!
"Unfortunately, the love was not set to last, as Sinuous was found by the evil rats and choked to death in his sleep."

Differences in the book:
Baby mice: none
Scarface: Adder is male, none
Badger: doesnt die in the book
Hedgehogs: there is no mrs &mr, it just 2 old ones.
Rabbit: i cant remember, i dont think this was even in the book
Mr&Mrs Pheasant: they get shot together in the orchard after panicking.
Bold: none
Sinuous: is female, Adder is male, is bitten to death by rats
In terms of Badger's death it's ever more sad that it isn't Mole there as despite everything and even telling him at Times that Mole wasn't there and Mossy saying he wasn't Mole, Badger still couldn't accept that fact that Mole had Died. I actually think it's more realistic considering that Badger was Dying of Althzamier's and it just makes it even more painful when Mossy actually said that he is Mole only for Badger to say that he doesn't know any moles and the final nail in the coffin is Mossy saying that he doesn't have to pretend to be his father anymore and yet still walking off to be by himself.
Adder is the exact definition of a Slytherin.
Spiteful, cunning, and snarky.

The way I see it, the male pheasant may have seen the farmer aiming at him just before the shot, but at that point he was so heartbroken and devastated that he didn't care. So when he cauhgt a glimpse of the man aiming at him, he felt no fear or need to flee. He was calmly accepting his fate, and in a twisted way even happy: he was going by the same way, by the same man and by the same gun, that his wife did.

Because nowadays kids are growing up too soft, bot understanding life isn't a game, and that back then, knowing this as a young child helps get them prepared earlier, and on top of that, allows them to get ahead in life...
Now, its not a guarantee, but still, kids need to know that REAL lessons and character development exist, not just fancy and bright colors on a screen.
Anyways, God Bless!

Avatar: The Last Airbender is a GREAT example of a kid show with serious elements.
Anyways, God Bless!
@@thalmoragent9344 agree with you.
I know this might sound callous, but I think it's good for children to see death like this. The show doesn't make death a joke, or handle it inappropriately. The show shows that life is precious and is something to fight for. It's sad when Mr. and Mrs. Hedgehog died, but it was done in a loving manner, showing that she would rather die with her husband than live without him. It's actually quite beautiful, and kids should see this. Children are tougher than people give them credit for. Is this gonna give them nightmares? Maybe for a bit. Will it fuck them up for life? Probably not.
100% agree with you. I'm 33 and watched this as a kid. It was beautiful to look at and the characters were amazing. This series taught me more about the lives of animals and the impact we are making on them more than anything in a class at school.
As a 16 year old who watched this when I was around the age of 7-8 I still remember how heart bursting the pheasants' deaths were to this day, as well as Mr and Mrs. Hedgehog. While it did leave me heart broken for about a week, it gave me a new perspective on how humans treat animals and how unfair the world can be, which was good for me as a young audience. I believe that it's media like this that strongly impacts change, and I believe that there should be more cartoons like this shown to kids today.
I grew up watching shit like this and I can only agree with you. Not this soft shit
Exactly. Those shows may be "Messed up", but In my opinion, they're real. That's why kids SHOULD be exposed to this. So they can see the real world, along with touching, heartwarming and tragic scenes. Kids shouldn't be "protected" from these shows.
Riley Sansoucy
I disagree. There's plenty of time for kids to learn about death, and there are many, more savory ways to teach your kid about the importance of life other than making them watch characters (whom they've grown emotionally attached to) die in gruesome and heartbreaking ways. I do think it can be quite scarring, and that it's better to underestimate a child's emotional endurance to these types of things than to overestimate their ability to cope and as a result, giving them nightmares and making them sad. Children honestly don't need to be exposed to this. There's time for that later. Childhood should be as blissful and carefree as possible, even if that means you have to hide some things from them. I think It's good to experience an unrealistic bloom of positivity before you have to deal with certain realities which, aren't as positive. The world isn't an over all horrible place, but there are some horrible things that can occur. Children don't need to know about that bad side of life, just yet. They're born hopefully knowing only good, and they should stay that way until they're old enough to develop independent thought and fully comprehend some inevitable sorrows. There's simply no need to introduce them to death so prematurely. Death is hopefully far away, and they shouldn't think about it. As a child who was exposed to more mature content growing up, I can honestly say that you shouldn't just assume *all* kids are tough enough to handle this. Things like these gave me night terrors, and that scarred me for a bit. Of course, I got over it, but it was p unnecessary. I certainly didn't need that as a kid. It didn't give me anything worth while. It just made me scared, and sad. I was fearing death even though I only like, 6. That shouldn't happen.
Sinuous was one of my favorite side characters and I was so sad when he died. Especially since he made Adder so happy and showed she had a softer side cause she was a bit of a jerk for a while but throughout the episodes she always somehow helped in a bunch of situations. RIP Sinuous.

Okay! The hedgehog's death while sad leaves me with this burning question. WHY DIDN'T ANYONE ELSE GO BACK TO HELP THEM?! You have a fox! some rabbits! some of the fastest critters in nature! How hard would it had been for one of them to go darting back to grab them and then zip back across the road?
This is actually something that should've been mentioned in the video; None of the animals could pick up the hedgehogs due to the bristles on their backs.
Most of the smaller animals (like mice, mole, vole, etc) were actually flown across the road by Stork. But he points out that he can't carry the Hedgehogs, and neither can Fox, etc. They all felt bad about it but it couldn't be helped.
The theme in that episode seemed to be showing how the Hedgehogs natural-born defense (to curl up/the bristles on their backs) is what got them killed.
Bystander effect
2 things, 1: bristles 2: it was a FUCKING SEMI TRUCK! Have you ever seen an animal that can get out of the way of a semi in less than 5 seconds?

Yep, traumatise them early and then they grow into tough little buggers. This cartoon never phased me as a child. Bizarrely Stoppit and Tidyup scared me more, we're English we're weird 😂
Too right, mate... I watched watership down. I watched this. I read the books.
And now...?
I'm traumatised.
Their cartoons and PSA-s are pure satanic death metal to the softcore cartoons of the USA
Let's all be honest.
*_Scarfaces scream does sound like a thwomp chocking on a half melted icecube, right?_*
CubingGamer LMAO
Lol
I remember crying at Pheasants death when I was a kid.
Rats killing a snake I thought this was suppose to be backwards
Wait wtf
It can actually happen especially if people who have pet snakes use a live feeding of rats and other bigger animal that will bite and even kill the snake instead of being eaten
GaMiNg BrOs JL in the wild, a single ant may kill a lion
@@priscillalunan7958 I knew someone who had a pet snake that was live fed. But then one of the rodents actually fought back and managed to snap the snakes neck. Survival of the fittest.
Patricia Luna sure is survival of the fittest. Can’t win every fight and sad to hear about your friends pet. Did he get another one and uses frozen feeding now?
I accidently read "Animals farting" overall this is really sad
Same xD
🙃🙃🙃
I read
Top 5 DEATHS in The Animals of Farting Wood
Kandy kweeen I thought farting animals would be funny, but no. I get dying animals. Somebody give me my croissant 👏👏🥐
I read "Animal Farming" ...... 😐
All British animations I know contain death and blood
explosive animator peppa pig is my favourite one.
Tomcat* lol
God save the Queen lad
Wallace and Gromit
Yo, i legit felt chills in my spine when i saw that cooked pheasant
i actually had a heart attack from that scene
The most messed up death is with the baby mice
i think the most messed up death is pheasants cuz WHO DESERVES TO SEE THEIR PARTNER HEADLESS AND COOKED ON A PLATTER ABOUT TO BE EATEN
steve velasquez true they were literally just born
Me before watching it: how could t this POSSIBLY go wrong?
Me after the first 1 minute and 50 seconds watching this video: HOLY CRAP
That was practically almost me.
Me: *mindlessly clicks video*
Video: Number 5! Impaled babies!
Me: 😨 DUDE!!
Well....... I'm traumataised
I'm so scared now
I wonder what recording the voices for the show was like
I feel bad for pheasant... he died feeling guilty and hated :(
Not to mention he had to witness his wife being served as a meal
Morbid
"HIS" Wife being served

You didnt need to correct me on that but uh thanks bud -_-

The hedgehog death is the worst, because there’s no reason other animals couldn’t have carried them. I wasn’t okay with it as a kid and I’m not now.
I was thinking about it too. Couldn't someone like Badger or the foxes come and pick them up ?
They are spiky...
Mobin92 only on the top. And hedgehog spikes aren’t sore, they’re a bit like rubber.
@@jaqjynx clearly you've never actually handled a hedgehog then. Try and pick an average female/male one up with just your hands (don't do this IRL, a lot of wild hedgehogs have parasites/worms and other nasty stuff that can get into your skin), I can guarantee you that they're wayyyyy more spiky and soreness-inducing than you realise. If you do decide to handle one (wouldn't recommend unless you're taking them to a sanctuary or they're your pet and enjoy the attention anyway), handle them with a thick towel or ideally in a small, insulated box with thick material - especially important in winter.
(I actually volunteered at a hedgehog center for a couple years, hence why I actually feel qualified on the subject 😂 love the little guys. But man, do a lot of them pong - there's a definite smell to hedgehogs and it's not pretty xD)

Butterfly deserved to be number 1.
RIP you beautiful butterfly
(Not a serious comment) Then a wave of depressive/anxious juvenile and young adults emerged
I doubt it. The show seems like a Disney movie that has death in it to teach kids about mourning. Its just has a lot more because its a series. Second its UK so.
Thats called a phase
@@chinoyomaji288Right,it's not supposed to be the major responsible for this problem. It's just because the show is pretty gruesome for a children's show, in my opinion. I felt a little sick with the impaler bird and Ms. and Mr. Pheasant death. It isn't a serious statement :)
When ‘The Lion King’ comes on....
*THE CIRCLE OF LIFEEEEE!!!!!!*

Man the pheasant scene it breaks my heart into million pieces.I don't even know why.the pheasant voice while he is crying and had to see his wife like that and the dramatic music during that scene.gets me every time and I never felt this kind of emotional empact from any other cartoon movie or video game.
Really nice! I loved this video I'm glad Adder didn't die
I'm glad too, because she's my favorite character.
