    This is especially depressing for me
    In 2014 i got a pitbull and named him Remy, he was a cage fighter from detroit, he was rescued in 2009 and since i got him he was the best dog i've ever meet.
    Last year
    he got cancer and had to be put down but all the years i had him he kept me company. I really just wish he could've lived a full life.

    Speaking as an animator, the animation is actually pretty good when they do close ups of Chance like at 12:23 but because the camera placements / shots in general are usually so far away from the models, you can see how poorly rendered it is. Although the puppy models are atrocious, I only do 2D and suck at 3D so whatever these animators made is better than I can do. Props to them, working on a five person team for a feature length film is back-breaking work

Crop for ears dock for tail; Unfortunately as per breed standards of pits and many other dogs including doberman and corgis for example: both ears and tails are simply cut off at a very young age, practically as newborns. I hate seeing how as humans we treat everything we see as property and not individuals. Long story and plenty of research short; ADOPT DON’T SHOP!

    In reality, Chance would have been turned into a bait dog if he refused to kill other dogs. That would have been a lot sadder and more accurate to what happens in reality...
    Also, near the end where he turned and bit a person, he would have been shot dead in two seconds. These people are armed, and train the dogs to not even be aware that they could turn on their owners, because those that do, die.

    • @101jir
      @101jir 3 роки тому +44

      @@TheGoldenDunsparce It really seems like the producers weren't really sure where they wanted to go with this. Educating children about the horrors of dogfighting while trying to keep it appropriate is already a monumental task, kudos for the attempt.
      But it seems that they sacrificed plot elements (important for any good story, and underestimated importance for children's movies) for the message, but then sacrificed accuracy to what would have happened for child appropriateness, ultimately getting... not the worst of both worlds, but pretty rough.
      As far as the subject matter itself, seems the dog is dead either way, just a matter of time and how prolonged the misery is. If it fights and loses, it dies. If it fights and wins, it will keep fighting until it dies. If it doesn't fight, it's a bait dog.

    I really wished that Chances motivation was something different.
    Sure his girlfriend getting impregnated by his best friend sucks, but this just felt kinda strange. I get that he is pissed, but just going back to his owners and actually fight and kill. It's just like he threw his entire personality (with not killing) out of the window and says: "fuck it! Might as well kill."
    Edit: Also the training-montage Problem could have been avoided if the puppies didn’t understood what „fighting“ meant.
    Second Edit: Just thought about that: You know what could have made the City sequence actually useful? Maybe having some poeple around. Not for looks, but maybe people see that there are stray dogs and one is obviously hunted down by some untrusty guys. The scene shouldn't switch the focus from Chance, but maybe we see them in the background watching while he runs away from the car? That would also explain why the stray dog (forgot his name there) and Sugar end up at Haven. Maybe they started to investigate what was going on and found Chance wounded. I'm spending waaay too much time thinking about this movie xD

      Also did he forget that they were captured by humans, and if they wanted Sugar to breed they would have literally FORCED her to breed by placing any horny dog with her to get impregnate her, willingly or no. She also expressed interest in Hannibal before any in Chance, it’s likely that even if they were still altogether, she would have picked Hannibal. They’re literally slave gladiators with even less rights than real world Roman gladiators cos they’re dogs, why does Chance act like Sugar even has a real choice in the matter when it’s more likely both his friends had to make a choice that would limit the pain Sugar would go through?

    Though the animation is troubled, I actually REALLY like the character models and environments. And despite most of the animation being really bad, their expressions were actually really good. At least I thought so, most of the time. And that's because they looked more like real dog expressions, to go along with the hyper realistic models, but also managed to convey more humanized emotion.

  • @imshadowsdragon
    @imshadowsdragon 3 роки тому +9

    You know is even more depressing if you think about how the 'happy ending' isn't even really that. Chance, Sugar, and all her puppies would have a next to nothing chance to getting adopted out because of that fighting ring background and will most likely be put down. The puppies cause they were breed to fight with a parent that was a fighter dog, Chance because he was a fighter dog, and Sugar cause the likely hood of her also being breed to fight. Their hardships didn't end just because they ended up in a shelter.

      @Death Omen That doesn't mean it can't be criticized. When you are selling a product for money, it doesn't matter if you made it in two days with only two people working on it. You should still have to provide some level of quality. It is not necessarily the fault of the animators if they were put under time constraints by whoever hired them for this film, BUT quality animated products HAVE been made by a single person. It would take a LOT longer, but it would be a higher quality result.

    Although this takes it to another level. Not only did they double down on the time limit, but it seems that they doubled down on making sure to have people that know the details of this stuff to represent it accurately, at the expense of actual writing talent.

    As someone who grew up with a face scarred from a pitbull attack as a toddler, I hate to day that this badly animated film had me tearing...

    HEY STEVE, theres this obscure anime movie called Tamala 2010: A Punk cat in space, it is weird, but its one of my favourite movies, and it critizices themes like consumism, cults, etc, the interesting thing is that it was animated by 1 SINGLE PERSON IN FLASH
    And also therese a sequel in the works!

    Can you review leafie a hen in the wild.
    It's an amazing story that really shows the grey of the animal world and really shocking how easy characters get offed in it.
    Highly recommend but warning the English version doesn't have the real ending so see the original subs

    I kinda agree with your thoughts on the end. The dynamic between two friends having to fight each other is lessened by the Reaper suddenly appearing and killing Hannibal. The Reaper feels more like a surprise final boss just for the sake of having a final boss.

    Please do a review on an anime movie titled "Enchanted Journey". It's like "Watership Down", but with chipmunks. The fox and the cats are the creepiest parts of the film.

    This film reminded me of Watership Down, The Plague Dogs, White God, Chirin's Bell, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, The Fox and The Hound and even a bit of The Little Fox.
    I think this movie had various concepts, but instead of focusing on one idea they mixed all in one, which is a shame because the film had potential.

    Daisy a hen into the wild or Leafie a hen into the wild, i think daisy is the British name which is the version i watched. It left a huge impact on me as a kid, while not a perfect movie it taught me a valuable life lesson in survival, death, adoption and freedom... i like it despite some of its obvious flaws

    I know it might have a few issues and poor animation quality, but I think this is done PERFECTLY for the message they were trying to send, and the animation quality didn’t bother me personally it was a great script and I loved this
