Smart and adaptive animals like baboons show just how complex the balance between humans and nature can be. Their intelligence is both fascinating and challenging, especially when it comes to conflicts over territory or resources. Amazing video-it really makes you think about coexistence!

Wild pigs are an invasive species in North America and VERY destructive to both farmed crops and to livestock (killing lambs etc.). My one question is: are the boars (male pigs) even edible??? I also question one of the firearms: in Canada, automatics are illegal. In Africa, can high-powered electric fences keep baboons out of crop fields and livestock areas, or are they too smart for this? These can be solar powered. And: instead of castrating male baboons, wouldn`t vasectomies be more effective, so that a troop male could still keep other (fertile) males away? Willi B. in Canada.
Wild boars (male pigs) are indeed edible, though the taste can vary depending on factors like age, diet, and whether the boar is domesticated or wild. Wild boars are known for being leaner and sometimes having a more gamey flavor compared to farmed pigs. Many hunters and chefs enjoy cooking wild boar meat, and it can be used in various dishes such as sausages, stews, and roasts. Regarding the firearm question, you're correct that automatic firearms are illegal in Canada for civilian use. The use of firearms for wildlife management is regulated to ensure safety and compliance with local laws. As for using high-powered electric fences to deter baboons in Africa, they can be effective in many cases but not foolproof. Baboons are highly intelligent and sometimes can find ways to circumvent barriers, especially if they are accustomed to humans and have learned how to avoid the shock. However, when well-designed and maintained, solar-powered electric fences can be an efficient deterrent for baboons and other wildlife. In terms of controlling baboon populations through reproductive strategies, vasectomies could indeed be a more effective option than castration. This would allow dominant males to maintain their roles and manage the troop's hierarchy, while still preventing overpopulation. However, implementing this approach would require careful management to ensure the success of the procedure and prevent unintended ecological impacts. Would you agree that a combination of methods, such as fencing, controlled hunting, and reproductive management, might be the most effective strategy for dealing with these challenges?
@@mousefarm Well, domestic male pigs are castrated so as to avoid "boar taint". I HAVE eaten wild boar (Inoshishi) in Japan, and it was delicious, but I didn`t know the gender.... For controlling baboons, it would make sense that using more than one method, dep. on situation, would be the way to go. Here in Canada, there have been problems with coyotes (fed by grads of U. of Disney) attacking people in parks where hunting isn`t allowed. One person, a jogger, was actually killed. I always thought that a few encounters with a cattle prod would teach coyotes that humans aren`t to be messed with. For most of my life I raised Saanen dairy goats who are more intelligent than German shepherds. There are no coyotes here on Vancouver island, but we do have cougars, who can climb and leap. These present fencing challenges. They are also delicious...... Willi B., Farmer and hunter in Canada.

Two questions: 1. Why do the hunters need to shoot and kill animals? Are they harmful to men? 2. How the animails will be dealt, after being shot and killed?
Ne güzel insanlar var diyerek teşekkür eden hayvanları vurmak ne mantıken nede ilmen doğruyu göstermiyor çok anlamsız Orada karnını doyurmaya çalışan hayvanlar sizden habersiz beklerken onlara kaçma şansı bile vermeden vurmak insanlığın geldiği noktayı gösteriyor Kalleşlik ve vahşet bu spor olamaz😢

The guns are far more humane than bows as they kill quicker without distress to the animal.
