Every afternoon before work, me and my wife would sit down and watch his show. When Papi left the show we were heartbroken. I still watched and when Papi would make an appearance I would yell "Papi!!!" and she would haul ass to the living room. Dans show and his dad were a bonding time for me and my wife.
I actually hated Papi 90% of the time. (Except when he shit on the Boston Celtics, that was pretty hilarious.) But, hearing Dan explain that was important to him not just to get his dad on TV, but basically as a way to work through and explore the relationship they didn't really get to have...I don't mind it now.
As a kid that came home to watch ESPN and not cartoons. I wish I was older when Dan and his Dad had their show. Didn’t peak 13 year old me enough but remember watching it some.

I'm actually not a far right leaning person, but if you don't agree with the left on every single issue, that's what you're categorized as. An example is, I truly feel trans people should have the same rights as everyone else and shouldn't be discriminated against. Although, since I have a huge problem with it being ok for male athletes to compete with females because they decided to "transition" a short time ago, I'm a right leaning monster.

It was clunky and confusing to hear at 1st but that show helped reform Talk Radio in South Florida, and nationwide. Still remember the episode where Dan secretly tape record his dad having a random discussion about the Miami Dolphins and Papi became a overnight celebrity. I'll admit I haven't heard his show in a while now (tuned out after they went on ESPN Full time and went to mornings) but it's good to see Dan in a better place (and this interview just proves how low ESPN has sunken as a network)

Dan himself can be annoying but he is both honorable while be irreverent. It's the cast of characters he surrounds himself is what makes the magic. Amazing he was able to break out of the stereotypical sports talk hot take host who is always right with his hot takes into a fun circus of characters who have the freedom to do what they want.

Le Batard's reverence for his dad was the highlight of this interview. When you're in the TV business, you have to keep in the back recesses of your brain the realization that your career is tenuous and can change at any moment. I think his first appearances on ESPN were on PTI...I could be wrong...but, he was already crushing it on local radio in south Florida that had syndicates banging down the doors, and before that he was writing for Miami Herald and being published nationally....the radio work was Stugotz magic as a station manager. As I heard the stories, he badgered Dan for months to get him on the radio, and put his neck out on his station to let Dan be there...and in 10 years became the biggest sports radio program in the world....it’s an awesome story, and will be a great ESPN 30 for 30 someday....lol

Highly Questionable was one of my favorite show. Love when Dan's Dad would say Si Si I'll watch that. 🤣🤣🤣Funny as hell.
Every afternoon before work, me and my wife would sit down and watch his show. When Papi left the show we were heartbroken.
