I've seen bugs with Start Menu before. From what I understand the issue is resolved by reinstalling the OS. Or you can try restarting from the Locked PC window- Windows key + L.

Hi, that's a good question. If you're going to work with only 2D animation and editing you don't really need to upgrade the GPU.
Some video editing software like Adobe Premiere supports Nvidia GPU and can help with encoding but your i7 CPU should do a decent job with that.
For FHD video just make sure you are exporting with the correct bit rate for quality consistency and it should process the video fairly quickly.

It's good to have enough RAM for encoding but it looks like you already have 16gb which is good.

That's a pretty good deal. Add a bit more ram and a video card... That would be a pretty decent gaming machine. You can get a really cheap SSD that you can use for OS which makes a huge difference in performance.
At my work, majority of computers are the same G1s, almost a thousand of them. I still use an i7 of the same generation cpus.

I really can't afford a new video card atm so i plan on using my current regular size video card by just using the pc with case open if that is possible, or finding another creative way. You think that would be possible? I know it wouldn't be ideal, but it'd be just until i can afford a new card.

Thanks for the support. :) Your idea for innovation is admirable. Technically speaking you can get any card to work; however, the biggest problem is with the size of the card. The regular size card will not fit in the back nor towards CPU, inside the case. Even if you had a card short enough it will not fit without changing to shorter backplate where your monitor connects to. As a very temporary solution, you could get a pcie riser that will let you mount the card externally. Also, if your regular card requires additional power, you may need to get an adapter for that as well. Just be careful so you don't cause damage or hurt yourself. :)

In my opinion I believe the 4GB is worth $75 at most, seeing how the 8GB RAM model is $120.

I'm thinking of making a sleeper PC with the case of this that I have just lying around my house which is already broken, I have in mind to replace everything on the inside (Motherboards, GPU, power supply, ram, processor and basically all the crappy components) with high end RTX 2060 and i7 9700kf and 16gb 2666 ram and everything high end. No problem. The main issue is fitment... Especially with RTX 2060-it's just too big/tall to fit inside the case. There is a way to mount the GPU another way like horizontally/flipped so it lays flat but I am not sure if enough space to fit inside the case. This is done with one of those ribbon pcie cables. I just picked up one of these sff towers from my school for 50$! It has an i7 4970, 16gb ddr3, and a 256 ssd w windows 10 pro.
I recommend replacing the thermal paste on the cpu and the psu to start off.

@@digitaldeltablues It's a proprietary form factor, if I'm not mistaking. Also, the connectors are not the standard ATX ones. I wonder if an SFX would fit, with a little bit of elbow grease... But some adapter cables... or cutting and soldering will be needed to adapt the standard ATX to HP's proprietary connectors.

Two year old video yet these PC’s are still legit, I just ordered one off Amazon refurbished for $150. Just need a mid range unit for heavy web browsing/video. Apparently you can throw a low profile 1050ti in it for gaming, I might do that just to speed up my system in general.

The audio on the front panel is connected to the headphones and the audio on the panel is connected to the speakers
Because front panel connector has switch that turns off the back audio when computer assumes you have headphones plugged in.
The design of it assumes that you will not be using external speakers (back connectors) and headphones/other speakers (front) at the same time.

Cobuman my elitedesk shows a red light and is beeping i was adding more ram then it happened, tried putting the one stick there alone like how it was but it didnt fix this new issue.
Edit: found the fix, my ram was dirty or so. I cleaned the ram part that gets put inside the board. Hoped i helped someone

For youtube 4K video you need at least 40mbps bit rate export. May be a long encoding time depending on CPU speed mostly.

This case is designed to move air with stock cpu fan and that plastic cover. Changing to anything else can make it worse. Technically speaking, you can cut a hole in the side of the lid and add another exhaust fan but be careful if doing so. :)

@@Cobuman thanks for replying so quickly, I referred to the hp service manual which stated that the CPU can be upgraded to the 4770, so I did some googling to find out the 4770 and 4771 are virtually identical except for 100mhz increase on the system clock. Im looking to buy a base i5 system actually and upgrade the CPU to the 4771 which I have from a dead system I salvaged, guess im lucky as the 4771 sells on ebay/amazon for over 250 bucks!

G1 is max of 32GB 16x2. This is because of the different CPU architecture support.

I have not heard any issues. Just make sure you get a "low profile" type like this: amzn.to/362vpcy
The issue is, the power supply is proprietary. So upgrading to something like a 1650 which doesn't require an upgraded psu. However, requires at least 300w. So if you have the 240w like me, you're kind of screwed. Because you can't upgrade the power supply.
You got to literally think out of the box. Connect another PSU from outside the case and run the cable through one of the PCI slots to the video card ( a power cable adapter may be needed - search youtube ).

It sounds like you want to upgrade your PC... For what it's worth I paid $200 for 800 G2 last year (refurbished) maybe you can find a same deal and not worry about if it's fast enough. cobuman I mean according to the MSI website their GTX 1050 LP has a power consumption of 75W but only a 300W PSU is reccomended (

I used the MSI variants because 1. Gigabyte didn’t provide a power consumption for their GTX 1050 LP and 2. Because since both are made by MSI both should have undergone the same testing for PSU requirement and power consumption.
I agree 100%... it is very surprising that it's labeled 400w. Usually, as long as entire system does not use more than PSU max rating- it should be fine. Let me know if you decide to with rx 560 and if any issues.

Hi cobuman. I bought an elitedesk 800 g2 for my mum after watching your videos. I think I added too many extra components and now the power supply is insufficient. It has a problem with randomly crashing and causing a lot of problems i.e screen not working after it reboots (which I've managed to fix a couple of times)
I want to know if it's ok to buy a non hp sfx 400w power supply and use that. I would hold it in place with either velcro tape or zip ties. Is that something that is possible?
The only reason I suspect this is a power problem is because the hp psu is only 200w and I've added a graphics card, an ssd and more ram. Although I have no experience building computers and this is just a project to help me learn by trial and error.
I think it's a great that you are interested in pc hardware. Given that PSU has the same motherboard connectors you can certainly give it a try. There is also an adapter that allows you to use any 24pin ATX PSU: amzn.to/2QGm17C

This video helped a lot to decide which SSF to pick from work, we had to choose between HP and Lenovo. What I like the most is that it has a lot of room for hard drives for such a small computer. Only problem is the proprietary screws for securing hdd. I'm not able to find extra screws for a second hdd, what can I use as a replacement?
You can use standard HDD screws. Align HDD in such way where you can use the screws from the side. 2 screws is enough to hold it.

@@Cobuman Alright thank you, How do I check which pc model I have? It does say, "HP EliteDesk 800 G1 SFF" idk what that means but it might be helpful. It looks exactly like the one in this video with the disk thing too. When you open it it looks exactly like mine bit with a different thermal paste fan thing.

@@joseantoniogonzalezsambran7606 I hear ya brother. Sure, there is chance the PSU might go bad... but they go bad anyway over time. In this case they are pretty cheap to replace as well (HP ones); so, you might as well enjoy the PC while it's working.

So that second 6 pin connector on the Motherboard is dedicated to the SATA cables? Feeding them power through the motherboard which passes power through to those devices? Was thinking of picking one of these up with the 24 pin to 6 pin adapter to use a better PSU.

Is it possible to upgrade the motherboard? I have maxed out the 15GB limit and it is not enough to efficiently run Zbrush, Maya, and Unreal Engine. I would love to purchase a new pc, but For the time being, I have to work with what I have.
Are you talking about RAM? If you have 800 G1 the limit should be 32gb, if you have 800 G2 or higher... the limit should be 64gb.

What is the CR2032 battery used for?
That is a BIOS battery used to save/keep settings when you turn off or unplug your PC. If you take it out it will reset BIOS settings.

Very good quest. There is no power supply upgrade available because this computer uses 3 separate mobo connectors and not standard 20/24pin. However, there are plenty original PSUs that you can use to replace a broken one.
