- The opening title mistakenly lists "The Rapids" as “Icarus.” This concert was performed and recorded in 1987 at the Freiburg Arts Festival, Germany. Oregon is Ralph Towner - guitar and keyboards, Paul McCandless - Oboe, English Horn, soprano saxophone, Glen Moore - bass, Trilok Gurtu - tabla, percussion.

When I first hear Ralph play a 12 string guitar, I didn't have any clue that a 12 string could even be played liked that, or sound like that. Neither did anybody else. And nobody ever has since.
Astonishing still.......a monster piece for Oregon....... COMPELLING structure
"The Rapids" is one of Oregon's best compositions.
Happy to explore it again, after so many years! Thank you! God, we were young!
this song reminds me of the torrents that descended in the 20th century in the Central Cordillera of Chile
Wonderful
Last weekend I had the opportunity to introduce a new friend to this music, he'd never heard of Oregon,. but he loved it instantly . Its sad there are so few videos of Oregon in this era, I did come across a guy many years ago who stated that the band allowed to film them frequently , but I lost touch with him, no doubt his vids are in some vault somewhere moldering , or someone has binned them if hes died.
Pioneros, mucha gente perdiendo su tiempo, eh aki... Verdaderos músicos🔥🔥🔥
They could play pretty much anything except dull derivative music...
I remember Ralph playing "Blues night" on piano at the club in Boulder CO in 08/1980…
Ralph Towner’s piano version on ‘The Silence of the Candle’ in his solo ECM album, Diary’, is a liquid, limpid version, unmatched.
