Thank you so much for your tutorials on bag making. I am new to bag making but have been sewing for years. You have helped me through making some bag and I can't thank you enough.
28:45 Thank you clearing this up! I just looked at mine, because I didn't remember doing this zipper tab folded in half step while basting the pocket. Mine are flat, the way you say NOT to do it 🤦♀️! I struggled with this pattern and this helps so much for the next one.
So let me start by saying how impressed I am with you and how you teach!!! Thank you soooooooooo much for admitting it was a bit of a struggle for you as well bc it sure as h@#$ was a huge struggle for me. Sewing over the very thick straps and then the bottom..... Let me just say thank God my kids were in bed bc I would've been adding a few dollars to the bad word jar!!! Thank you for showing us each actual part of the bag that you're working on and not just assuming we've all done this before. I started by watching someone else's video on this bag but had to stop bc I sewed the wrong pieces twice bc she didn't say the specific parts of the bag that were next so I Soo appreciate you taking your time and really going over what you're doing!!!! I recently found your channel and love it!!! Thank you for spending some of your day with us!!!!♥️❤️
Wow thank you so much for the kind words! I’m glad my video was helpful!!! I think all patterns take a couple go rounds to work out all the parts you struggle with! Keep going, you will get it!
I just found your channel. I love your tutorials. You are very easy to follow and I love how you sew through (if that makes sense). I purchased two patterns because of your tutorial. :-)
Thank you for this tutorial. Just purchased the pattern and your tutorial is by far the best one ever! I just got my Juki DU1181 N last month and this will be the first big project to be sewn on her. THANKS!
Excellent tutorial! One question about the very last step of sewing the connector with the clasp to the zip end. You previously stitched the sides of the connector, then folded it in half, and sewed beside the clasp. For the final step you sewed across the tops of the connector, sandwiching the zip and bag in between. It appears to me that this would leave both sides of the connector open. Is this correct? Thank you.
Siah, have you seen the Logan sling pack? It is by Uhoh.would love to see a tutorial on that bag. Your tutorials are so indepth, it woukd be great. Thank you for sewing on.
I have all of my pieces cut out and interfaced. I am waiting on my new machine to arrive. I think I need heavier thread and a different needle. Where do you get your thread and what needle do you use? Also, what stitch length do you use for piecing and for topstitching? Thank you. This will be my first bag.
I order my needles from Wawak, and I use tex70 bonded nylon or poly. I carry that on my site now siahswagbags.com, or you can order it from other sewing websites as well. I use about a 5 stitch length when I top stitch.
Wow your so talented ,thank you for this video , thank you for taking the time to listen to the people in the comments and trying to follow thier suggestions, this view is a little better but is it possible to getting a view where the camera is looking down on what your doing at the sewing machine ,its similar to the view olkaroots channel uses
You are the best! Would you consider this pattern for beginner/intermediate? I have never sewn a backpack before but have sewn many bags and pouches with zippers. I have a domestic Juki which is a workhorse. I would like to purchase the pattern, but don't want to get in over my head. Thank you so much!
A few questions lol What did you use that little piece of marpon leather for? To lift your presser foot higher? What tape do you use for vinyl/leather straps? Faux leather... where is your favorite supplier from? Thank you
Scrappin Dipity hello! I used the scrap to protect my faux leather from the walking foot, when I am going over a seam the foot sometimes will rip the material if I’m not careful. I use double sided leather/vinyl tape from www.wawak.com. And I mostly get my faux leather from www.fabric.com or www.mypunkbroidery.com 😁
Another ? I'm annoying I know but your technique is amazing The template to attach the connectors using your cut outs Is that in the pattern or did you design it on the pattern piece?
I’m so happy UA-cam put one of your videos in my suggested views. I’m enjoying your channel. You’ll have as many subscribers as Lauren Mormino before you know it. I have everything I need to make this Denver except the lining....had to order the right color waterproof canvas. Now I have the courage to make it, thanks to you. I am planning to make all of the outside out of a thin vinyl. Do you think that’s a mistake? Also, I was considering using purse feet on it. What do you think? Thank you for sharing your knowledge, wisdom and talent with us.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you found my channel! I have made a couple out of all vinyl and they turned out so nice, so I think it should be just fine. The mini one is so small I don't think purse feet are needed, but it would be a very nice touch as well!
I sew on a Kingmax, not a common machine online. I purchased it at an industrial machine supplier store here in Denver. It is pretty much a Juki 1181 without the official name on it.
Lucky Sinclair oh wow thank you so much! After I did the video I thought maybe I should have Pulled it back out of the way because I kept moving it to the side 😂😂😂

I usually either rivet on the sides so they are shut or I sew around the whole thing depending on the thickness

I would say a beginner could totally do this pattern, especially with the video
@@SiahSwag thank you!
It's adorable.
I really like your tutorials. What speed do you have your motor at? Mine is 20 but seems way to fast.
Carmella Mares well mine has different numbers than that 😂. It says I have it set at 970...🤷♀️
A few questions lol
What did you use that little piece of marpon leather for? To lift your presser foot higher?
What tape do you use for vinyl/leather straps?
Faux leather... where is your favorite supplier from?
Thank you

Great video thanks. Did you infuse the interfacing to the Faux leather using your heat press? Or just sewed them?
Maysa Abu Ghosh I did interfacing just one the back and bottoms pieces and I used low heat and a protective sheet from the heat to fuse.
@@SiahSwag thank you

SiahSwag Thank you for your advice. I’ll save the purse feet for another bag.
Love this tutorial!! Have you made the mini NCW?
Julie Mills thank you, no I haven’t but I imagine it isn’t much different...
Will you do the Dayna fanny pack & the NCW without the hideous border flap piece lol?
Also, I forgot to ask you. where can I purchase the waterproof canvas? Never thought of using that as lining. By the way, I love your channel!
Thank you! I usually order it from Fabric.com, just search ottertex
@@SiahSwag Thank you so much
Love your videos very helpful. What kind of a machine do you use?
I sew on a Kingmax, not a common machine online. I purchased it at an industrial machine supplier store here in Denver. It is pretty much a Juki 1181 without the official name on it.

You are welcome dear, I'm now making your style of Brooklyn traveling bag thank you for showing all your steps in the tutorial
I like your sewing machine too
Which side of waterproof canvas is the right side?
The non smooth side is the side I use
SiahSwag Thanks for the prompt reply! Love your videos and fabric/vinyl selections.
Hi I hope you see this request. Can you see up the Noodlehead messenger bag? Please!
That is a no designer for me, I think she likes to do her own videos 😊

This fabric is from Hawthorne Threads
SiahSwag One more question, what is the exact name for it?
Where do you purchase your zippers from?
I purchase them from MyHandmadeSpace.com
What fleece did you use to interface?
I used pellon fusible fleece from JoAnns.
👍 can you do tutorial for a baby bag such as Swoon's Belle Baby Bag?
I will for sure take a look at that one, I haven't done it yet
@@SiahSwag - Much appreciated 😊

What is your source for all of your fabric.
I mainly buy from fabric.com and hawthorne threads
Do u mind disclosing the cost of your machine with table?
Scrappin Dipity my machine is a Kingmax, the off brand of a Juki 1181 and I bought it for $1100. It comes with the table, they all do.
Do you ever use a zipper foot?
Scrappin Dipity yes I do sometimes, but my machine is not a pop on and off foot kind of machine so I don’t do it often
What kind of sewing machine do you have?
It is a Kingmax, off brand of a Juki 1181
