I agree 100%. I try to watch Tokyo Godfathers each Christmas with my one daughter who's also an anime fan. It definitely has the right spirit.

I remember watching this and Porco Rosso as a small child and thought I was having a fever dream. Obviously everything went over my head but as I got older rewatched it and loved it and I still revisit Tokyo Godfathers from time to time.
