Brilliant! Gave me the understanding and confidence to tackle my Galaxy 2011 door lock, especially with your helpful explanations of what to do and how to do them. THANK YOU!
Hi Nigel, Thanks so much for taking the time to do this video. Your narration was extremely well spoken and your detailed video, easy to follow. I have owned my 2013 MC Mondeo since new and it has been a fantastic car. The only three things that have ever gone wrong with it have been a faulty rear LED driving light, a faulty cruise control switch on the steering wheel and finally the door lock actuator, which I have been meaning to fix for over 2 years, Finally got around to doing it today and thanks to your video, I was able to complete the job without breaking any plastic fittings, which I find can be the biggest challenge when removing car trim. Thanks again Regards Steve
Thank you Nigel. I have a 1998 Mondeo. The passenger door is not locking, the inner lock won't push in to lock. I got so far on taking the door apart, but couldn't figure out how to get the locking mechanism out until I watched those particular steps on your video. Superb - thank you very much for taking the time to do this. You make it very clear and straightforward.
Usefully!!! Big thanks from Vietnam. ❤️🤝 My Mondeo driver door has the same issue as yours. I am going to fix its as your direction. Thank so much again, Sir!
Hi Nigel, brilliant video, great tutorial. I used it this morning to change the mechanism in my drivers door. I was worried it might be more complicated due to the lock barrel being in place but not at all. Your video gave me the confidence to have a crack at it. It took me about an hour start to finish. Thank you so much for filming and posting it on here! James Mount
Very clear video! Managed to get the doorlock out on our car and went a step further to see if I could fix the machanism. That didn't work out so a replacement part is on order now. Without your video I probably would have ended up paying 2-3x more in our Ford dealer garage. Cheers and again, many thanks! Greetings from Netherlands.
Nigel, this video was amazing. Helped me fix this exact issue with a part from AliExpress (New Zealand based), was easy to follow and made the fix easy. Please keep making more videos :)
Fantastic video, thank you! I have a Smax but fairly confident that the door/locking mechanism is virtually identical. I have been putting off doing this repair for nearly 2 years and wasn't confident enough to take the lock apart. I will now be ordering the 2nd replacement and give it a bash! Thanks again
Nice video, well explained step by step. I might have to do the same on my Mondeo. The lock works fine, but makes a high pitch squeal noise everytime it locks which is annoying
Thank you so much for this video! With your help I had the confidence to give it a shot. And I enjoyed it! Took me about an hour trying to be careful. Job well done for £30! Cheers
Great instructions. Easy to follow and I was easily able to do the job. Mondeo mk4 passenger door would lock but would not unlock using the remote control. Brilliant video and very well put together. Can i ask what kind of money you paid for the part. I have an smax with the same problem. Is this a standard part that wiĺl come out of any ford that will fit.. thanks and allthe best
Thanks I’m glad you liked it. Go on ebay and search for smax door lock for whichever door it’s for. I think I paid £30-£40. For me it was not worth buying new from Ford at their inflated prices.
Same thing happening with mine now . Sometimes getting "drivers door open" when it's not too . This means I can't lock any doors and footlights stay on and drain battery .
If you mean the ratchet screwdriver set I’ve had it for years and it’s my go to tool. It has Allen, Torx plus cross head and flat screw heads. Makes easy work of spinning out screws.
Great video Nigel, By the way, any clues what is the color code for the door sensor of your Ford. I'm planning to bypass The door sensor for a temporary fix of the door ajar problem driver side on mine. Thanks Xx
The door micro switch is part of the door locking latch mechanism. I don’t know an easy way to get to the wiring to bypass and think it would be less effort to take the lock mechanism out and either use switch cleaner or replace it. See my video ua-cam.com/video/nQeBZL2b6tw/v-deo.html. There may be a way by which you can use the cleaner without a strip down. Take out the two top torx screw from the end of the door that hold the lock and try spraying the cleaner downwards through the holes. It may work.
Do you have a tow hitch and wiring fitted as it could be the buzzer sometimes fitted to that. The other possibility is the rear parking sensor module. In the boot take the cover off to reveal the rear near side light cluster. Have a look for a box. Also try and reproduce the fault with ignition on, engine not running, lights on and get someone to press the brake pedal. Then go look for the buzz in the boot.
It’s part of the central locking. On your key fob is an additional button to unlock the boot. When unlocked there’s a button in the middle on the underside of the boot lid.
nigel, i have an issue with my front pass door unlocking itself whie driving. whats your view here ? moisture, wiring. I believe it fried my central locking ecu a few months ago i think.
My first thought is you need to scan the car for faults with Forscan and a OBD2 interface. This should highlight fault errors. Watch my video. Not sure I understand what you mean by the central locking ECU. As far as I know there isn’t one. Each door has a control module that is connected to the car’s MS CAN bus network. When you lock the car a command comes over the MS bus and each door module locks their door. Are you saying none of the doors remote lock? If it’s isolated to just the passenger door then I would look at that door’s control module. It’s unlikely to be moisture or wiring.
@@NigelEaland thanks for quick response, i need to obtain forescan ? i will check that module u mention. Ford replaced a failed. FORD MONDEO MK4 S-MAX 2007-2014 CENTRAL LOCKING MODULE ECU 7S7T-19G481-BC. a black ecu at footwell. I think the unlocking problem caused it, but could be wrong

Thanks going to order part and give it a go Can u help me Central lock not working The car is telling me passenger door open so im guessing it’s the door lock
I think you are right. The lock mechanism has the switch which is wired to the control unit mounted on the door. It signals open or closed over the CAN network. Most likely is the switch failure.
Insert the key and turn it to the left, not to the right. You should be able to open the door. Secondly change the battery in your fob. With luck it will work without programming it back to the car. If it doesn’t work then see my video about key fob battery change and programming. Good luck.
@@bean2448 sounds like it’s not the right key for the car. Change the fob battery and hope it works. If that doesn’t work then if you are a member of the AA or RAC then call them. They have ways of getting in past the door rubbers to hook the interior door handle.
