Brandon Hagler - I think the problem with the live version, he seems tired & unable to sing to his true potential. Best syl Live performance was the couple of lad songs he did at retinal circus.

Indeed the studio version is better. There's missing vocal parts etc. in this one. Also, worth mentioning that he was doing sweep picks during that chorus-esque part. :D (or what ever it's called) Would have been nice of the camera man to have picked up on that!
On another note! Pls do the song S.Y.L.! Similarly, the studio version is better, but man oh man... It is something!
Yeah the visuals for this are awesome but I think this was the end of a long tour and Devin was just done by then.

Please. Please listen to the studio version. They've never nailed this song live; this is good, but doesn't compare to the original.
it would be hard for anyone to nail it live unless their vocalist doesn't play lead and all the solos. he does that fast sweep picking (the wibbly dibbly shit) during the clean vocals and fast licks during other parts so his voice cant be the best when focusing of that fast of guitaring

Some songs I prefer live version, that's the case of Aftermath, others like this one sound better in the studio. One of my favourites SYL songs is Home Nucleonics, it sounds awesome both live and studio.

People say this is one of the best live performances on UA-cam? There are several of his own live shows post SYL here on UA-cam that completely blow this performance (and the entirety of the Download 2006 show) completely out of the water (almost everything from the By a Thread concert series and the Royal Albert Hall concert come to mind). I mean his screams were on point here, but his cleans were just bad, lol. Obviously I can appreciate the fact that he was having panic attacks throughout the entire show, and the drugs and alcohol that he was doing around this time weren't exactly good for his vocals either.

Have to agree. I think people are thinking "performance" in terms of the camera work and crowd interaction. There's better performances by the band for sure. Sadly, some of them have ass quality sound and camera-wise

Devin is in both bands that’s the only link they have, comparing DTP with songs like ghost & kingdom with SYL who have Aftermath & Love? You wouldn’t compare cannibal corpse & dream theatre if they shared musicians
Like I said to Moe Sysslac, Ruben does say at 1:47 that people are saying this is one of the best live performances by any band (not just SYL), so even by the metric of how the show was shot and the production, it doesn't make sense to say that this is one of the best live performances.

I LOVE to watch this Download 2006 gig. But the mix it's not good. It has a great energy but the sound is a bit muddled. Don't think is a good way to KNOW the songs.
