Support the R&N steam program by purchasing a ticket!
We follow 425 as she makes her return trip from Jim Thorpe to Port Clinton on her first public passenger excursion since 1996.
(I paid for a ticket and rode the trip to Jim Thorpe, but decided to chase back.)
A big thanks goes out to Kyle Sanders for once again providing the navigation for the chase!
Another one for the favorites box! I always look forward to the day you post another video! Excellent capture of the return trip, good choice of locations. GREAT job!
You guys all did a kick ass job. It's pretty hard to pick a favorite.
Oh hey, I forgot to mention... great job on the pan, it's absolutely flawless!
The last time there was live steam in Jim Thorpe was in 1996, when 425 came home from Steamtown. I have video up on the tube on that ferry move home.

The last time 972 was under steam was in 1987, when she ran the P & R Special over the Ex.Reading Systems. I saw 972 go through Pottstown,PA. and Elverson,PA. that same year.

Woah woah woah.. That's a lot of questions dude.
I rode one way to Jim Thorpe, and chased back with a freind of mine.
Last time a steamer was in Jim Thorpe was May 10, 2008! LOL.
Nice video man! I like how it was set up.

Great Video Joe! I wish I could come up there and chase her! Maybe one day....
Very great video !
the most thing that i like about this engine is the 2 tenders
Neat stuff Joe. Love the angle in Nesquehoning. I guess you didn't get anything good on the train, eh?
amazing video and outstanding Quality!!! I love the opening sequence. Is that Tunnel the route 93 overpass? GReat Video!!!
How did you ride the train, but get off-train shots, too? There was only one trip. BTW, I'm working on a Trainz 2004 recreation of the Lehigh Line from Penn Haven Jct.-Independence to Mehoopany with the DEM layout continuing to Waverly, NY but no track laid on it yet. It will join with Roon's R&N layout south of Penn Haven. That is, if his finished layout includes that segment of the Lehigh Line like the unfinished full version.
I really think RBMN should buy some for their own use to have extra coaches on hand and when running special excursions when the LGSRy is running at the same time. They do use the restored green Reading Blueliners on LGSRy when the red coaches are all used on a special excursion.
the 425 visited several times during 1995 and 96 on her way to and from steamtown.
Now THIS is what it's supposed to be like. Great video, Joe!
...and who's that in the Parlor Car vestibule with the huge tripod sticking out? ;-D

Yes that is the Route 93 over pass.
Len.
Not bad, I like the tunnel like scene at the begining, there at Route 93 over pass. And the bridge scene at New Ringgold.

When was the last time there was a live steam train in Jim Thorpe? Too bad George Hart didn't make it to witness the return of steam to Jim Thorpe. He passed away weeks ago. When did his steam engine run last? It's sitting by the turntable, dead near the 903 overpass. Strasburg bought the #972. What will the fate be of the old CNJ and Reading coaches in the yard?
No, I mean before this year, was it the 90's that steam was in JT last? Either the 425 or CP 1098. Either way, the last time steam was before May 10, Bill Clinton was in the White House.
I did, but only a few seconds worth. Would be hard to tie into this youtube clip without it sticking out like a sore thumb.
KS1822 said it right top noch work and locations!
