    I have a Polaris Ranger 900XP and I added a receiver hitch mount to the front end years ago. [ Moves things around like a fork lift ] I use that as my DEAD weight anchor and to move my unit around. I just use the wheels on the boom end like you did. Less time moving parts around like you said also....

      Might try that, real pain. He would be best to have the emergency brake on.

    By leaving it hooked to the truck you got a huge counter weight. And actually more digging power

    I now have one of these (Betstco Backhoes) sitting in my driveway all tarped (still in the crate) for the winter ahead. Bought mine with the thumb and 20" extra bucket. Anxious for spring so I can assemble. Seems like a nice unit. Better than some other brands that I researched. Keep your videos coming.

      I really wish I had gotten the thumb. Mite have to order it.
      And don't know if you wached my video where I put it together. But it wasn't bad. But I did have to call a friend to finish getting it together. It's a great pice of equipment for the price.

      @@chickenhawkfarmstead8478 Cost me $280.00 for the thumb and $305.00 for the 20" bucket. Bucket came with teeth that can be removed if needed for grading, backfilling or water draining shallow smooth ditching. P.S. I've watched all your videos related to the backhoe and many more from other people and different machines. Definitely felt the Betstco was the best machine and the best built offering the best and most features. I really put price last in importance.

      @babysquirrels Just saw your post. The thumb is like the thumb on your hand. It comes in handy for picking things up such as, rocks, stumps, brush piles, logs, roots, and more. Without the thumb on your hand, it would be much harder to pick things up. Same thing. Hope this helps.

    Interesting idea. I've never seen one these. Looks like it could definitely a little hard on the truck suspension.

      It you did it all the time in that Configuration you can use it by it self with its out ringers. This was a quick job so didn't fill like un hooking it. You can move it with you ridding lawnmower too. It is a handy thing. Its going to be great to use it to plant my trees.

      Good way to f your transmission on the truck, break your park gear plus it's a dodge known for transmission problems, I'd definitely recommend disconnect. 👌 also slamming the bucket down is hard on the joints of the digger. But to each there own....

    Slamming the bucket down like that does nothing productive for digging a hole or trench. That's the equivalent of beating the machine with a sledgehammer. The proper way to use these or any backhoe or excavator is to let the bucket teeth do the work. Angle the teeth straight down and claw back towards you. As you're pulling the teeth through the dirt slowly curl the bucket. You can not shove the bucket into the ground, not even with a 40 ton excavator.

    How is the water supposed to enter and leave the pipe? The top of the pipe is below the level of ditch where any water would run in or out.

    • @chickenhawkfarmstead8478
      @chickenhawkfarmstead8478  2 роки тому

      You can't see slop very well in video but water flow through just fine. And the pipe had to be deeper because the ditch is so shallow. So far even in big rain storms and we have had some bad one with no problem.

      @@chickenhawkfarmstead8478 What I would like to do is modify mine to swivel on a base to be able to increase the angles in which to dig and dump. Powered down out riggers would sure be handy also. I have an “L” series Kubota with a grapple and therefore a counter balance on my CaT 1 rear hitch. I welded up a 2 inch ball on that in which I attach the digger. When I need to clean out a tank or creek, I can get deeper into the muck knowing the tractor is still high and dry and I can still be pulled out. There is a kill switch on mine which kills the engine if it senses a forbidden angle. That has bitten me more than once. It has killed the engine and will not let me restart. Of course I need power to get out of the wonky situation. So then I need pulled our jack up a leg to get more level. That’s a pain. I understand why but an override would be nice too. So these little machines are tougher than they look. I have towed it many miles if you keep it slow and don’t get crazy. Thanks for the video.

    • @chickenhawkfarmstead8478
      @chickenhawkfarmstead8478  2 роки тому +1

      I do not i know with out it hooked to the truck or another anchor when not using the outriggers it will lift you up with out a problem. If I remember right a video I watched about another one similar in size it was 500-800lbs.
      From using it i don't think that is a stretch at all. When its gets nicer out side ill see about testing this out. But I am gussing you would want to know sooner. There are some guys that have committed the have used it to move logs for there saw mill. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
