    Kigen was the pace seter. Maybe he tried to win in the last 200m but he was clearly stronger and he waited for Mo the entire race. PLEASE don't consider my comment as hateful or anything, i'm a huge fan of Mo ! Hiring a pace seter is a really common thing to do in running. I'm not trying to pull Mo's performance down

    Steve and Brenden,not only great athletes in their own right,have become some of the best running sports commentators of that country.I am American, but after watching all the great races that they were both in,I have deep respect for both,Paula is also becoming a force of her own,and deserves all the respect of that country for her brilliant achievements.Congratulations to all.

      OK, I mean that the average person--if they tried something like this--would fine it impossible to do. Most people have "spectatoritis:" they watch other people do something, and imagine they might be able to do it (identification).
      But there is not relationship between watching some athletic event, and actually performing in it.

    Kali Muhammed. At 59.04 Kegan looked back at Mo Farah. That was the signal for him to come forward. At the same time he slowed his pace. He did that twice in this race.
    Ask yourself... An i am guessing you are a long distance runner. Does Kegan even look winded?

    • @coolkahil
      @coolkahil 10 років тому +2

      i have looked at 59:09 and it's not what you think, kegan is just looking back to see the gap between them. why would he let him? yet they're not of the same country, you came to win make money and history and then you let for someone who is not of the same country. thats foolishness. watch at 1:03:23 and see how kegan is trying to catch up by speeding but it was too late for him. MO is the runner

    • @Bountylicious
      @Bountylicious 9 років тому

      +Chris Carter Actually you're wrong. It's not about being from the same country. They were taking turns leading that's why he slowed his pace to then let Mo go in front and vie versa. Some tactical long distance runners do this. It's nothing new. Kegan tried to win but he couldn't .

    • @ivanomar
      @ivanomar 8 років тому

      +Andrei Tudor this race isn't eligible for world records bc it's a downhill course ... similar to like when Geoffrey Mutai ran 2:03:02 at 2011 Boston Marathon it didn't qualify for the world record. it could be a point-to-point course but to a certain standard. the amount of elevation decline can't fall under a certain number or the record won't get ratified. Great North Run is still a great event tho, clearly draws big numbers both at local level, international level, and elites. I hope to run this some day.

Such a stupid thought. Also who cares if he was Somalian like we are in the 21st century get over your self. If he chose to be British let him as nationality is only a label. Get rid of everyone's nationality and everyone is a human being, nothing else but that. Have you forgotten about Americans. Where did they come from? Oh yeah Britain and Africa but they're nationality is American but no one is complaining. America is completely made up of foreigners apart from the native Americans that where there before anyone else. And tbh I could go on for hours but not worth my time.

    I don't know why my Somali people are fooling themselves. Kigen clearly could have won this race.
    He Kigen was ahead the entire time, would wait, yell c'mon, and didnt really kick much at the end. Look at in the last 3mes then reply me. Do an unbiased analyzes in the last 5km.
    It's been rumored that Maxamed Faarax "appropriate Somali writing of the champ's name hired Kigen as a pacer. I think Mr. Farah accomplished his goal.
    I'm the biggest supporter of Mohamed Farah. One can only equal to me. They don't become better supporter of cc or tf. You can only measure to me. Diffosaha ugu horreeya ee ordaaga halyeeyga ah waa aniga. Runta haleysu sheego.

    • @SPharaoh
      @SPharaoh 9 років тому

      Kahil Mohamed,
      It's not a crime to hire a pacer. I used to run to compete track & field and cross country in high school and for university. If you don't step out if the track or course, or they/runners don't commit un-sportsmanship conduct.
      Pacers are very common in the running world and are legitimate. Another name known for a pacer is a rabbit. Look at track and field events, the event hosts will hire and pay for the rabbits. PLS WATCH THE LAST 3 miles OF THIS EVENT AND YOU WILL SEE HIM WAITING FARAH AND YOU WILL HEAR HIM SAY SOMETHING TO HIM.
      Perhaps, words of encouragement. I think Mohamed Farah might be the 1st born or naturalize citizen to win this race. Meaning, he had an excellent reason to hire a pace setter and win. HISTORY IT IS.
      In middle and long distances, there's always someone running just a head of the pack/runners and after few laps they dropout and pull off the race completely. The rabbits job is to pace runners or electrify the event for the fans.
      Otherwise, runners might strategize too much and run slow the entire race then run very fast in the last few laps to win. Like Mohamed Farah, he's an excellent kicker or finisher. It's very rare to out kick him on his main events. It's perfectly allowed to have a pace setter. It's also allowed to hire pace setters.

In the U.S., you refer to minority groups as african-americans, asian-americans, etc. Whereas, in the U.K., we regard everyone as just British, whatever their background. Noah Carpenter that's true. My cross country/Track coach told me to stay tucked in behind the leading racers at the state track meet for the 3200m since it was very windy and the race was very slow and strategic. And during the race the leaders dies out heavily and it was left to the kickers who raced smart and stayed back during the first few laps.
