  • In this video I go over my process for tweaking and printing my custom Tiger I fenders and wheel flanges on my Anycubic Photon. You can also buy these parts on Shapeways.com. My son Arthur was manhandling my camera earlier today, so there is a noticeable blurry spot on the lens during the wide shots. I'm sorry about that. It's cleaned for the next one.

    Awesome to see a video update from you. And I'm glad you're sorting out the missing hub.
    I've been seriously considering buying one of those printers as I already have the software and experience to print some stuff, and since March I've probably spent $100 in various aftermarket accessories which is half the cost of a printer. Things like stowage, damaged/burned out roadwheels, corrected details, and of course tool clamps would be awesome to have more readily available.
    The MJ tool clamps will arrive here maybe Tuesday so I'll give my thoughts on those...probably a review video. I know you're curious about them.

    Interesting how much know how and testing has to go into all of that to make it work, even if not in the most elegant way. Hi Adam. I was hopeing to see you back again. Nice you managed to find the time. I'm working on a vk3001p conversion atm. It took me a tapetop army or two for dealing with the supports. You can let your fenders grow avoiding zyllindrical supports, use a wedge shape instead and stand them upright with 0,02 mm layer hight. (I use a Photon S, it is bit more firm in its z axis.

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  4 роки тому

      Hey Tankbrusher, I've been watching your stuff a lot lately. Good to see you here. I'm not really understanding what you mean by wedge shape support. Is this just another option in Chitubox/Workshop or is it something else? I can be a little thick sometimes so can you show me something that demonstrates this?

    • @Tankbrusher
      @Tankbrusher 4 роки тому

      @@AdamMann3D Chitubox Supports are helpful but they don't know your part, so the can't aid you in every case. Design the support as part of your component instead, directly in your CAD/CAM equivalent. The Fender, in its cross section together with the Support looks like a T - felder perpenticular to the print bed. the transition area of your horizontal area (= Base/Support) has the shape of a wedge leading into your fender. creating a line support instead of a spot. Design it weaker than your fender and you create a predetermined breaking point/line that can easly be cleaned off. I'll demonstrate it in one of my next vids, for the top lid of my turret simulation weight. Thanks to your videos, I'll go full nuts on Tiger development for the rest of the year ; )

    Hi Adam, great video and congrats for you first succesful tries with the printer. I am myself considering to buy one yet I am still unsere whether Elegoo Mars pro or Photon S, due to the supposed improvement of the dual Z-rail but I dont find anyone doing parts like our modelling parts having tested both solutions and confirming any worthy improvement with the expensive one. I am in the meantime swallowing every bit of information about the process, and I am wondering if you have considered instead of a almost horizontal angle, to go for a almost vertical one with your mudguards. I see you point about the holes in the hub not being feasible till you put them axis almost horizontal. Pretty sure the reason is the printer having the 0,047 resolution in XY but up to 0,01 in vertical, it is to me tecnically logical the detail appears in the Z direction thanks to the better resolution. I thought also the fender would benefit from supporting itself while it grows, reducing the number of needed supports.

      Are you referring to the white shapeways parts or mine? Because mine are wonky but the shapeways versions are very good. And so you know there is a bit cut off the ends so that wheels can be removed past them, so only half of them are actually proper circles.

    Hi, I know your pain, I'm doing a 1/72 high detail model of a King Tiger, totally 3D printed, my first fenders where so thin they where like wet paper, same with the skirts lol. If you don't mind me asking where did you get your perfect model of the Tiger 1? (Never mind just heard you say you made it yourself), I have spent (over a few years) months real time modelling my KT & I have to trade off detail for print ability all the time, I mainly modelled my original on a Dragon 1/35 kit so I have probably copied errors Dragon made, I have only been able to print my model out a few months as I'm a proud owner of a Prusa SL1. It's been out of action for just over a month as it broke down, but with Prusa Tec supports help & several brand new parts sent to me Free, I got it all back working last night, so I can get back to getting things like toe hooks on the turret to print out more consistently, there just on the verge of being too small, they print sometimes & not others, so it's trial & error, thicken them up a little & next time I print a turret out see if I have thickened them enough lol. Sorry I'm rambling, but I do love this 😄

      Yeah I built the 3d Tiger for my portfolio, it comes in quite handy. There is a reveal video on the channel. Trying to print a 72nd scale model would sure be a challenge. You should do some videos on it.

    • @DeadlyAssets
      @DeadlyAssets 4 роки тому

      @@AdamMann3D I may do a UA-cam video of it, eventually, time is one of the commodities I never seem to have any of lol. I had planned to start at 1/72, move up to some of the wargaming scales & possibly end up with some parts at 1/16 to update my RC King Tiger. I have a few different scales of most of the parts, I in my youth modeled lots of nuts & bolts, unfortunately due to various disk crashes etc I have lost Loads of the build files, but luckily I had sence enough to backup the main parts of the built models, although I lost all my tools & I cant tell you how many hours I spent modelling the toe cables but unfortunately I lost all thouse too, still I know next time how to get a decent cable when i finally get around to doing it again, although at 1/72 most of my detail is lost unless i exagerate it & cut V shapes where the panels join. At one point i was concidering modeling Zimerit on but like a lot of things when it came to it I decided against wasting all the time on something that wouldn't be seen at the 1/72 unless it was exaggerated.
