  • Today we're looking at two identical files of 1/35th scale Tiger tank parts printed on 2 different resin printers. If you're debating what to buy, or if to buy, this video may help. Elegoo sent me a Mars 2 Pro to compare with my Photon, so let's look at the differences between the printers and the results of the comparison.

I got back in to armor model kits after like 10 years. This is very cool stuff. Got myself a Mars 2 Pro to go along with my FDM printers and can't wait to test this stuff for scale armor models.

Excellent detailed review. I've had the same issue with bent barrel type l parts as you showed. I resolved the issue by printing the parts hollow and inserting K&S brass tube, or rod, after printing but before curing. This keeps the part straight, or at least straighter. In some cases, I've left the rod in as it doesn't show, in others I've pulled the tube out, shortened it, and glued it back in place for strength reasons. It does require a known inside diameter, but if your building your own geometry files, that's not much of an issue. If you try it let us know how it works.

I'll have up some test files pretty soon. I'm hoping to get something more generic like clamps or something working so it's more useful to non-Tiger people.

I badly want one of these for printing details ....to correct some StuG III.... The mono combined with the thinner resin seems to work very well. But knowing small 4K is right around the corner makes me want to hold off a little bit longer before buying one of these. Thank you for the video. The tracks printing with holes is very impressive. That's better than most Friulmodel moldings now.

How long do you think I'll have to wait? I have basically no modelling time for the next 6 months so...

Cool viedeo but did you already test the resins on the opposing printer? I mean you say its probably all because of mono vs rbg but also say the resins are different ones.. when will you print with the same resin on both printers the same file?

Great video. I have just purchased my first resin printer and I am building a model car of what I used to have when I was 16. So my question is if I have a photo from a catalog can I use that image to duplicate on a cad program then print? If yes do you have any idea how to do that? What i want to duplicate is a set of rims.
I haven't even printed anything as of yet and really could use some direction. Thank you .

Adam can you please create a video guide for complete and utter 3D dummies and start it right from the very beginning taking us on a journey so that we can all copy from you.
This would be sooo valuable to most of us who can build and create models but who have no clue where to start with this technology and who are also aware of the very steep learning curve especially if like you you are having to figure most of it out on your own.
I for one really value your expertise when it comes to the historical accuracy of these components and if I could start at the very beginning on this new and exciting technology with someone who knows what they are doing I would most definitely jump in and start this process in my cave knowing that you were in the background developing the kit parts that I would be interested in using.

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  3 роки тому

Absolutely, I just have to figure out how to frame the information. Are you more interested in the printer tech or the 3D creation of the parts?

Unfortunately I don't think that you can have one without the other if you want to fix what the kits are lacking.
The finished parts are what I would be very interested in for sure.
I really want to be able to drag, drop, pour and press the bloody button and hopefully hey presto my problem is fixed.
I know it's not going to be that easy though but with someone like yourself on the case I'm sure it will become a lot more bearable to follow and get it right!

Greetings Adam, great video, I am impressed with the results of the Mars Pro!
I have been fiddling around with 3D printing on a Mars printer for a year, and I create several of my own stowage and upgrades, some of which I then sell on Ebay. If you are interested I would be willing to have a chat or an email exchange regarding some of the tips and tricks that I have found. For instance I have a set of working Panther tracks with almost no supports to clean up that could work well for your tiger tracks.
No strings attached, if you are interested let me know!

That was useful information so anyone who is interested in this new tec knows where to possibly start. As you know, i am a total noob when it comes to that, but maybe i can learn a bit and do stuff myself one day?

I suppose I should probably do some more simple videos explaining the step by step process of printing these once the 3D files are sorted.

Thanks for the comparison. Kind of makes Anycubic look like a bit of a clown show. Definitely makes the whole 3D printing thing seem a little intimidating... lots to learn!

That is because he is comparing the latest Elegoo with a 2 year old Anycubic. I f he compared the Anycubic Mono X (Or Mono X SE) with the Mars Pro it would be the opposite. Elegoo has major quality control issues (LED array on the Mars Pro and now the 3.5 inch display LCD on the Mars 2 Pro). I sell Elegoo and Anycubic printers and I sell the Elegoo for a lot more so I am not biased.
