    I always liked the letter 300s. I remember the Chrysler ads talking about running a 300 in a series of SCCA rallies, beating a lot of European sports cars.

    Fabulous. Thank you. I own in New Zealand, Austrian assembled, Magna Steyr, a RHD New Zealand new, SRT 8, 6.1 Hemi, my daily driver and bliss bliss bliss. A Chrysler man from youth, this is my best by far. Really enjoyed your learning curve....

    Being an old car guy I was always aware of the Chrysler 300 series car.
    The 1955 Chrysler 300 C was the fastest stock car of its time.
    Everyone who watches this should subscribe to keep channels like this alive.

    my1st car was a 1955 chrysler 300, i was 15yo in vermont working at a sunoco station,it was on its side leaning up against the back of the station,the owner gave it to me if i got it running,the gas tank and driveshaft was missing,i got 5 of my friends help me push the car over on its wheels,i drove it to school and after graduating i went to work in baton rouge louisiana and drove it all over the country,i was drivig on the levy of the etaphia river and a skunk came up thru the back floor,it was rusted and the 2 guys got hammered with skunk parts,we bailed out and and ened up in the river,the doors stayed open there for 6 weeks,but couldnt get the skunk smell out of it,so we put the hemi engine in a christ craft speed boat and junked the car that was in 1966

      @@thehopelesscarguy Well someday a classic car will come up on sale in good condition I am on a mission to find a 5th generation Imperial by Chrysler because of that design. That I like so much.

    • @thehopelesscarguy

      @@PontiacFan68 Interesting choice. I like them all. I know a couple of people that collect Imperials, but only the "real" ones, which is to say the ones not badged as Chryslers from 1955 to 1975.

    • @PontiacFan68
      @PontiacFan68 3 роки тому

      @@thehopelesscarguy well the 55 to 75 were the true Imperials and the 81 to 83 imperials were not as nice and big but when Lee Lacocca finally decided to K car it in 84 then being replaced by LH cars which they were not good. I bet if we didn't have the 1970s and 80s American Auto crisis. We would've have modern day Impalas sized of big as a Rolls-Royce Ghosts today. Bet now we have the SUV boom and even the imports still outrun American Autos hopefully we win are cars back which I sadly doubt now.

      I think they are suggesting the 2005 model styling was inspired by, well, Bentley actually. Although I doubt anyone has ever mistaken the two.

    Great video bro👍👍@10:44 My question is, so if Chrysler would not have discontinued the Eagle Vision name plate for 1999-2004 was the 2005-2010 version of the Chrysler 300 Originally supposed to be named the 300M ?

    • @thehopelesscarguy
      @thehopelesscarguy  2 роки тому +1

      It would make sense to do a continuation of the letter series for the top model, but I would be surprised if Daimler-Chrysler leadership put that much thought into it.

    • @Mr_57ChargerRT
      @Mr_57ChargerRT 2 роки тому

      @@thehopelesscarguy I don't think the second generation Eagle Vision (aka 300M ) LH car was not intended to have a 300hp engine. I think it was a dumb move for Chrysler to use the 300 name plate to replace the discontinued Eagle Vision. I own two 300M Specials 02 and 04 that car shares nothing with the original letter series except the name. btw well done on the full history of the Chrysler 300 👍👍

    • @thehopelesscarguy
      @thehopelesscarguy  2 роки тому +1

      @@Mr_57ChargerRT I don't think the 300m was intended as a Vision replacement. Chrysler already had the similar concord. I think the 300 designation was used on the shorter car because it was the only Chrysler name with any kind of sport heritage.

    I was never a Mopar fan. They were too big, too heavy and "floaty". My neighbor had a 440 GTX with a cam, carb and headers. It was not fast. It handled like a trash truck and kind of sounded like one. All it was good for was making noise and testing tires. One of my best friends had a '76 road runner(Volare?) I guess it looked fun. I didn't like the new model series. I guess I was carrying a negative stereotype. That is until I got one. I bought a 2012 V8 highway patrol car at auction for my daughter who wants to be a police officer. I changed the oil, replaced a $40 driveshaft bearing and changed the transmission fluid. I've had the car 3 years and its had zero problems at 180k miles. Its much more agile that I would have expected. It feels planted without feeling heavy. When you step on the gas, it feels more like the entire world is moving past. It is very fast. You can break the back end loose at 60 going straight. It stops better than any other car Ive had. In retrospect, its actually a very good first car, not just one to get used to for a particular job. Insurance was actually low. They said it was SAFE, which was important. Gas mileage isn't great. Best $3k Ive ever spent. At this point, I'd buy one new and I'm totally on board with the design language. Form follows function.

    • @thehopelesscarguy
      @thehopelesscarguy  3 роки тому +1

      Most big block cars don't handle well and what was considered fast in the 60's in barely above average these days. Although tires and transmissions and carburetors had a lot to do with that. There are not many new cars I like, the Chrysler LX cars are some that I do. Even without the Hemi.
