Juan Diego was born with a beautiful voice. However, he is a humble and human person who is admired all over the world. I am Peruvian like he is, and I am extremely proud of him. We Peruvians have a great tenor who is teaching us that fame does not make the person. His generosity and heart is well appreciate by young musician in Peru. Good job Juan Diego, continue delighting us with your songs.

One of my favorites in this aria. While I recognize the technical difficulty when other tenors are performing, his rendition gives me chills.
I never get tired of him singing la Fille du Regiment. This aria is great, but I also love the vocally very exposed aria towards the end of the opera which is so touching. My favourite version is JDF as Tonio live from London (together with Nathalie Dessay), I have the bluray and have watched it so many times, it is superb, also the staging and production.

Very nice. No Pavarotti, but not bad. He lacks a bass note in his voice. It isn't grounded. He lacks human vulnerability. But it is technically accurate. I think he is the best modern opera has to offer, but unfortunately it doesn't hold a candle to the Italian tenors who were steeped in bel canto from childhood. I am going to see Diego in January at his recital, and I love his work, but let's keep this all in perspective. The best singers don't go into opera any more, sadly. And fewer promising students stick with it. I hope this changes soon. What I want to hear is a full-throated bel canto singer again with silvery overtones at the top. We're overdue. Is there someone singing in the regional Teatro in Italy that might arise some day? If not, I may have to wait a long time...
There is such a lightness to his voice that is perfect for French arias!! Him and Lawrence Brownlee are exquisite!

@@alta1910 kraus era increíble, técnica en estado puro. Pero eso que debería considerarse como su gran virtud, fue también su mayor defecto. Estaba tan encorsetado por la técnica que no dejaba ningún resquicio para la innovación.
Siempre aseguró que la ópera no debía salir de los teatros (como una crítica a los 3 tenores) que allí era donde sonaba mejor y era apreciada por los entendidos. A mi juicio ese fue su mayor error, los tres tenores (juntos o de forma individual) han hecho más por la ópera que él, la sacaron de los escenarios típicos y la dieron a conocer a un público que no tendría nunca la oportunidad de acudir al Liceo, a la Fenice, o la Scala. Y serán recordados siempre. Al gran Alfredo Kraus lo recordará menos gente…..por desgracia

Nobody sings it better than him. I especially loved his Tonio in the ROH London production. I also have the older DVD of his rendition at the Teatro Génova, where the audience was going totally crazy and started calling "bis, bis", so he had to sing the aria twice. At a later date it also happened with this aria at La Scala, and it was the first encore there since decades. Truly special.

Com todo o respeito , particularmente prefiro a Alfredo Kraus .
Diferentes Repertorios.
Don Alfredo Kraus era perfecto en su ejecución. Mostraba una facilidad innata para llegar a cualquier nota sin aparentar ningún tipo de esfuerzo. Su voz permanecía intacta y limpia después de llegar a las notas más altas. No habrá nadie como él jamás.
Hermosa voz con un timbre muy personal y cristalino, pero el francés "horrible". De todos modos es de FELICITAR: un tal vez grande de las nuevas generaciones si no se "quema" buscando ocupar el pedestal de grandes predecesores.
Totalmente de acuerdo con su apreciación. Debe seguir siendo él mismo e imprimir su propio carácter en cada actuación.
Y mejorar su francés, evidentemente; sobre todo si quiere cantar óperas en francés…..y que se le entienda.

Nada que ver , JDF es insuperable , es el mejor tenor del mundo en la actualidad , lo dijo Plácido Domingo y años atrás Pavarotti dijo que el peruano Florez iba a ser su SUCESOR !
A quienes creen que la interpretación de esta área, está bién ejecutada por este tenor peruano, pueden compararla con los grandes tenores ligeros de la historia, o hacerlo por ejemplo con el tenor ligero mexicano, Javier Camarena ( por decir algo ). En todo caso ante cualquiera de estos, no saldrá muy bién parado.

@@ubaldosolis2495 esa lista se hizo en 2008, Javier Camarena tenía 32 años, apenas empezaba a hacer sus pininos y por cierto fue muy cuestionada esa lista, en base a qué determinaron quien era el mejor, talvez por la mayor cantidad de funciones dadas
