The construction of the project has damaged the Tebrau Strait canal. The people have long wanted the Tebrau Strait to be free from all dams and restrictions to make the Tebrau Strait a canal to allow ships, boats, ferries and others to operate. If Malaysia wants to move forward in the long term, first of all the Johor Causeway needs to be demolished and replaced with a bridge high above sea level like the Goldengate Bridge in America or make an underwater tunnel with the RTS rail line.
