Maude reminds me of my late grandma she didn’t beat around the bush if she had anything to say she would just say it, I think Maude played a good 👍 character and certainly made me giggle 🤭 when she called her son in law names,Thank you for these episodes I ❤the oldies
She came with nothing and never stopped spending Alf's money..and complained and moaned if he did not support the spendthrift, reckless, self absorbed lifestyle she treated herself to 😂
The last episode of this month at around 4:19:30 is where Lynne/ Ivy's troubles on the show really start, if you believe that bosses were angry with her appearance changes. She may have had very minor things done previously, but now her injections are very noticeable & it's not gone well, she looks like she's been punched in the face; I think I have a vague memory of this at the time & we all said to each other "what's wrong with Ivy's face?!" Look out for long 2 shots, shots from behind her & off to the side as the cameramen mitigate the horror ;-)
I'd say she'd more or less been written out already by this point. I know she was an absolute swine for drink and pills, and the plastic surgery was the straw that broke the camels back
I always wondered if it was a bit more than just the face lift and if it had anything to do with her drinking. I found her slurring speech gradually getting worse and worse to the point where I found her very hard to understrand. And we all know that after she left the street in all her tv appearances she was pissed.
I am not against plastic surgery at all, especially when I look in the mirror ;-) but Ivy's face has sadly definitely not changed for the better. She looks very strange.
It would be the final year, I would watch Coronation Street because I joined the army in December 1994 and left England for a very long time. If I ever caught it on a TV network, "it was big in Canada when I was there," I'd watch it and think of home. I had a t-shirt with Reg's face on the front with the slogan "knowledge is power." Everyone was baffled with it. Lol😂

34:02 you have to laugh at the blatant non-PC fat shaming by Audrey over Vivian Barford (later to star as Emmerdale’s Betty Eagleton)… she just wouldn’t get away with this in this woke era we’re living through 2021!
Normally I am against all the PC censorship that goes on today. However I still believe that sensitivity to people's feelings is important. I have to admit that Audrey's comments about Vivian upset me a bit as a plus sized person. Whenever I visited family in the UK during the late 70s and 80s I experienced many jokes from family about my "curves"... Not so much in the USA.
I think Audrey can be a very cruel , selfish and judgemental woman at times. She seems to be so flighty and it is always all about her, until something happens to Alf, She then has some realisation and then goes back to her usual selfish self. I do struggle to like her. It is not the first time she has made comments about someone's weight. In this "woke era" it would not fly but to be honest I have always thought it a horrible thing to do to talk about someone's weight.

Why don't Bet and Vicki, whenever they go on a trip, exit the Rovers by the door next to the stairs, instead of dragging their luggage through the bar? Surely the taxi could wait for them outside that exit? Just sayin'.

The only bad actor on the show at the moment is Bet's Charlie, very odd casting, I can see the visual appeal but I can barely hear a word!
And yet didn’t the actor who played Charlie go on to have a career in the USA? Slightly surprising, perhaps that was a visual thing too. I agree Vicky is quite good, it’s Dawn Acton as Tracy I can’t stand, she reads the lines out as if it’s the first time she’s seen them, never made the grade from child to adult actress! Saw her DJing in Manchester on Saturday lol.
@@EveHenleySpread I do not mind Dawn she DJ'd at FAB in Manchester was weird to see this was 2011.
2011? How’d you mean? DJing at Fab? She’s still doing it, that’s where I saw her on Saturday
@@EveHenleySpread Oh right that is good.
This is February. The approximate time of Chinese new year. All the takeaways would be giving out calendars with the animals for the various years. If I wanted to know how old someone was, I would ask a few people, as well as that someone, what year they were born and tell them what animal sign they are. Quite simple maths then. Born in 1953, you're a snake. 70 years old.
Wtf are you talking about?
God I can't stand Reg and Maureen
Derek is awful in these episodes
Does Jim ever say anything but sorry? I do like him but I can't stand his scenes with Liz. Now when he goes up to Ken I know what he's going to say...yes,...SORRY! I just would like to see Jim get a better script. Tedious in the extreme!!!Liz changing her mind every second minute. Tedious!!! We all know it's going to faaall apaaart agaaain! Yes Liz because it's actually what you want. Sooo selfish! Poor ole lovely hotheaded Jim. He just needs a good steady woman.
The plots overall are a bit repetitive. Here we go again, Alf's last day in the shop!
Maud is a right piece of work; I don't find her at all funny.
50:00 corrie really had a heavy take that agenda during the 90s. that's about the 4th song they've replayed on the show over the last few years.
They liked East-17 too! (Alright! Alright! 😂)
Stock Aitkin and Waterman did very well in general with Corrie!
Ah, the good old days. When Denise still had all her marbles.
