    Like both
    But I prefer a rye blend
    So prefer the Bullet for that reason

    I like Bulleit with a small ice rock. Too dry to drink it neat.

    Great overview and very similar to how I feel.

    I enjoy both, and like so many things, it's not a matter of which is "better" but which one I FEEL like drinking. They serve different moods, different crowds, and occasions. I have a very good friend who breaks out Crown Royal Canadian for special occasions (celebrations - birthdays, baptisms, etc). Oh he has ALOT better whiskey in his cabinet, but CR is what his family always drank - his father who followed the tradition of his father. So, different factors go into "what do I feel like drinking" - right?
    Fair play on the review, as you make those sentiments clear and bring out the strengths of each whiskey. Not only do I enjoy drinking MM, but it is what I use in cooking and baking (bourbon-infused Pecan Pie!!!). It has the right amount of flavor without being overpowering, and I will always have a ready bottle in the cabinet to honor the part MM played in rejuvenating (some say saving) the bourbon market. Wheew - sorry for monologing!

      No need to apologise, I love hearing others thoughts on these things! You're so right though, the best bourbon in the world isn't the right bourbon for every occasion, even if price was no object. That bourbon infused pean pie sounds incredible!! Cheers!

    I'm with you Tom on this one buddy, the Bulleit just takes the win but only just ! I do love the Bulleit but then again I am keen on the Makers mark too. I'm going to do a head to head tonight and see what I think to them pitted against each other but like you stated it's a weird match up as they are so distinctly different.

      Let me know what you think after your test. But yeah it’s an odd comparison to make with such a big difference! Cheers!

      @@TheCrumbyBeard I was swayed a lot more by the Bulleit than you was, at first I was taken in by the MM aroma over the BB but as I got into the tasting the BB was shining through. I found the Bulleit had a crisper and lighter flavour profile with more distinct notes whereas the MM was just a muddled bag of competing but similar flavour notes. For me the BB was a step above the MM, maybe I just don't like wheated Bourbons or maybe I just prefer the higher rye Bourbons, which is probably nearer the truth as I've just bought the Sazarac Rye and am loving that a lot too (I did a BT/ER/SR flight and was loving the similarities and differences between all three, a very enjoyable flight and one that maybe you should try).

      @@ShaunShearman i really swing back and forth on it. Some days it’s BB hands down, no contest, others I’m not so sure. In general I prefer rye of wheat though. But MM buck that trend a bit for me.

    Se puede cambiar el corcho o ta lapa de las botellas por una hermetica y se conserve mejor cuando tienes media botella, servirá usar el gas que utilizan en las botellas de vino tinto? Saludos y grax

    • @TheCrumbyBeard
      @TheCrumbyBeard  3 місяці тому

      Yes you could change the lid or cork, however many bottles have different sizes so this may be difficult. I'm sure flushing the oxygen out of the bottles as is done with wine would work, many times whiskies are improved over time with a small amount of oxidation so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it.
      He traducido esta respuesta en Google para usted, por lo que puede que no sea del todo precisa: Sí, puede cambiar la tapa o el corcho, sin embargo, muchas botellas tienen diferentes tamaños, por lo que esto puede resultar difícil. Estoy seguro de que eliminar el oxígeno de las botellas como se hace con el vino funcionaría; muchas veces los whiskies mejoran con el tiempo con una pequeña cantidad de oxidación, por lo que no necesariamente lo recomendaría.
