Hey mate, I did install it myself and recommend you give it a try. It’s very straightforward as an install honestly. About 90 minutes total You really only need a plastic pry tool and a screwdriver to get it done in ‘22 MY. Your car may have one additional bolt on the center trim so you may need an allen key as well. The longest part of the whole thing honestly is just lining up the screen with the steering wheel and tidying up the cables. Hello had a question I don’t have a port in the glovebox mine is 2020 model Y how can I see about something different to install in there? Or can you install one in the glovebox USB port?
Ok sorry new to the Tesla thing lol but I had one more question so since I don’t have USB on glove box can I still get the cool sounds for my horn? Thank you
Your car won’t have the boombox speaker required for that. Tesla offers a retrofit for a couple of hundred dollars so if you want the cool horn sounds you can book a service and ask for the boombox. Be warned however that your car will also make sounds while driving as that speaker is part of a pedestrian alert system.
30% of aussies are born overseas. Moved over a decade ago so hopefully an honorary one by now. Love a good meat pie and sausage roll but haven’t done a shoey just yet.
All of them are plug and play and fully reversible. Warranty impact is grey but the general consensus is not unless Tesla can prove that the mod directly caused an issue.
The automatic front opening looks amazing but it also seems like it would be a lot of work. And I wonder how in depth the mod is in terms of voiding the warrantee.
Fully reversible and plug and play so no warranty impact is the general consensus. It’s a lot of work for the Y (4 hours or so for a first timer) and much easier on the 3 (2.5 hours or so)
@@VanillaTesla Thats good to know, Thanks. I have a 3 so it seems like it wouldnt be too bad. I will look into it for sure. I am always worried about hitting the unlock button on the frunk but not being near my car and just having it be open.
I have a question, does the rear screen "Unlock" the seat heaters even if you haven't paid for the "Upgrade"... (I have a 2021 Tesla Model 3 and rear heated seats were an upgrade option and not included with my vehicle)
I don’t think so unfortunately. There’s a specific harness that’s sold for that purpose but I’ve never installed one myself. www.satonic-autoparts.com/products/satonic-auto-seat-heater-mode-module-rear-seat-heating-for-tesla-model-3
Yes it’s perfect for that and very minimalistic but there are also now a number of newer models that are very reasonable if you want an 8” screen in the rear.
Great question. The answer to this is always a bit grey but the general consensus is no. All of these accessories are plug and play and completely reversible. Unless Tesla can prove that a specific accessory caused an issue they have to honor your warranty.
Personally not at the moment. Only game controllers in my car but there have been other accessories released that would have needed data ports like the Karaoke mics they released in the Chinese market 😅🎤

@@VanillaTesla thank you for your reply! I was wondering if you know more information about the displays for the rear seats? I see you recomended a simpler smaller rear control multifunction system. I'm tempted to get a larger screen that lets people watch netflix? I suppose these have some drawbacks like do they block the vents too much? Or are they very laggy? I'm not clear on how these things work.. are they basically a cheap lousy independent tablet running android that needs to be signed in using a google account? I definitely don't want that..
No worries! There are very many versions nowadays but I have tried a few. They are exactly what you described. Completely independent needing their own google account and data connection. I also found it mildly annoying that since they are all LCD screens their standby screens were very bright and the versions that I’d tried did not have auto screen off and would not respond to third party apps trying to switch the screen off. I haven’t yet found a big screen version that I like enough to recommend. Airflow wasn’t a huge issue with the ones I tried despite having visibly smaller vents. Airflow for most models retained over 80% of the original flow. The 4gb and upward ram models are not laggy but the 2gb models are so avoid them at all costs.

I explained in the video that you defo won’t need it for your EV but since the low volt is 16v on the newer Teslas you also can’t jump any other cars. For $42 bucks it might help a friend in a pinch or you may find the powerbank or flashlight handy to have as well.
If the low voltage battery dies then you will need to jump start the car. This battery powers everything in the car except the motors. It's in the frunk under a plastic panel.
Thanks for your comment! Unfortunately I don’t think any of these market 12v jump starters would be able to jump the newer 16v low voltage batteries in Teslas unless I’m mistaken?
@@VanillaTesla I'm no expert--I did have a Chevy Malibu Hybrid where the low voltage battery died, so I am familiar with the general concept of jumping EV and hybrid cars. Here's a very, very comprehensive explanation by a professor at Weber State University on the 16V li-ion battery in newer Teslas. ua-cam.com/video/8-MNFgashpQ/v-deo.html Older Teslas have 12v lead-acid batteries. Skip to the 16 minute mark where he goes throught the jumping options using what looks like an old school jumper box.
There are kits for that however they also swing themselves open which is a little unnerving as there are no sensors to stop collision. The more practical kits are “soft close” kits that simply latch the door shut if you’ve soft closed the door but it hasn’t latched.
You’re missing out a little mate. Great prices and decent buyer protection if you don’t mind waiting a little for products to get shipped out to you. I also link to Amazon sources for the same products in the video description but it’s very hard to beat AliExpress for low value items.

Primarily for other cars not for your own car. The new Teslas run a 16v low voltage system so you can’t jumpstart other cars as the voltage is too high. Also just handy to have a powerbank and flashlight around. Theoretically you could use it to pop the frunk jumper release on another stranded tesla as well. Hello had a question I don’t have a port in the glovebox mine is 2020 model Y how can I see about something different to install in there? Or can you install one in the glovebox USB port?
Your 2020 Model Y has the USB A data port in the center console and no USB ports in the glove box.
Thanks for the video. BTW: you don't sound like Aussie at all. Did you move there from the US ?
30% of aussies are born overseas. Moved over a decade ago so hopefully an honorary one by now. Love a good meat pie and sausage roll but haven’t done a shoey just yet.
@@VanillaTesla that’s great !
Careful with usb hubs. Mine nuked one of my usb ports.
In your Tesla? Did it melt plastic?
@@VanillaTesla yep. The plug stayed in and the rest was cooked. Had to use pliers to pull it out.
Holy smokes wow. That’s a shocker. Thanks for sharing and glad your Tesla is ok!
Is the Carview difficult to install ?
It’s pretty straightforward as it’s really only two ports that are plug and play. Less than an hour all up for a first timer.
Will any of these mods void the warranty of the tesla?
The app will show you that it’s in the open state if you open your frunk. It’s a very low risk to be honest!
That rear huddle is interesting! Specially being the parent in the back seat with the baby
Yes it’s perfect for that and very minimalistic but there are also now a number of newer models that are very reasonable if you want an 8” screen in the rear.
Hi, what happened to the $500 referral bonus?
Has been reduced to 6 months of free supercharging and 3 months of FSD.
Do any of these accessories void the warranty? Their policy seems so finicky I don’t even want to risk it sometimes.
Great question. The answer to this is always a bit grey but the general consensus is no. All of these accessories are plug and play and completely reversible. Unless Tesla can prove that a specific accessory caused an issue they have to honor your warranty.
Why do you need multiple data ports on the tesla? aside from recording video. what are you going to do with it?
Game controllers need data ports
@@VanillaTesla anything else? Just curious
Personally not at the moment. Only game controllers in my car but there have been other accessories released that would have needed data ports like the Karaoke mics they released in the Chinese market 😅🎤
I use the hub I installed to play music from a USB stick
what would i need a usb hub for?
Game controllers for the games in arcade
My 2018 Tesla M3 does not have a usb port in the glovebox.
It should have ports with data in the center console
somehow my tesla wontr connect two wireless controller at a time, it says it can connect to 2 device via bluetooth (my phone being one of them) any idea how to fix it?
Are you on the latest software? This is only possible since 2023.26
Which accessory is the best? :)
The LED door sills for price and simplicity for sure. They look amazing. But for utility, definitely the power frunk. Use it all the time :)
@@VanillaTesla haha, alright, thanks
I asked where to get installation on the site and a long Chinese message came back so I'm guessing not in the US...
That was probably an auto-reply. They have install partners in a few states. Out of curiosity, which product and 3 or Y?
@@VanillaTesla it's for a 3 - yeah they said they have California and Texas
What product? Is it the frunk? If it’s the frunk on the 3 it’s actually a very straightforward install you can do with basic tools.
@@VanillaTesla I'm sure you're correct, just like to get things done professionally. May give it a try.
Good channel but a brief comment; we all know it’s called Tesla, why do you guys call it Tezla? 😀
Haha it’s definitely teSla. 😅
Why do Americans called Mazda Maahzda?
Or Hyun-DIE instead of Hunday like Sunday? 😅
How can I contact you?
You can reach me at vanillatesla@mail.com
So the power frunk.. not sure which one to buy. I have 23 model y long range.. don't know if it's Austin or whatever.. there are two options.. 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
I’d recommend confirming with their live chat to ensure you get the right kit. Their chat team is pretty responsive. Also, they are doing 25% off for Christmas with the code VANILLA so it’s a good time to pull the trigger.
Timestamps. Timestamps. Timestamps.
Thanks I’ve added timestamps and will continue to do so in future!
That left hand drive hub does not work to power a game controller. Had to return it.
Hey James, thanks for letting me know. Was it definitely a power issue not a data issue? Could it have potentially been a faulty unit?
@@VanillaTesla power issue. Read some reviews to confirm. Got a different one and it works fine.
1530. Do you know of this an after market accessorie - handhold that attaches above the doors on the inside of the car. Most cars come with them as standard equipment - non of the Tesla models do😢
The only version I’ve seen attaches to the roof glass via suction but I’ve never tested it myself and honestly it looks a bit silly 🙁 s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DeS9SVR
I want a RHD Tesla!!!
Move to Oz 😁
Why would you need a jump start in your electric car..
Here's a very, very comprehensive explanation by a professor at Weber State University on the 16V li-ion battery in newer Teslas.
ua-cam.com/video/8-MNFgashpQ/v-deo.html
Older Teslas have 12v lead-acid batteries.
Skip to the 16 minute mark where he goes throught the jumping options using what looks like an old school jumper box.
Its left hand drive in Australia not right hand. We change gears with our left hand……. Nah your right lol sorry got it mixed up.
Lol your comment had me questioning my whole life brah 🙌🏻
Ok, so this has been bothering me, is it "TEZZZLUH" or "TESSSLUH"?
Feel like its how some people say BUDDIN instead of BUTTON.
just installed the doorsills on my mylr and I cant stop lookin at em.. sigh 😎😎
Glad you like em!
I’d like to see the doors shut themselves. I bet it’s coming…🌿🐇
There are kits for that however they also swing themselves open which is a little unnerving as there are no sensors to stop collision. The more practical kits are “soft close” kits that simply latch the door shut if you’ve soft closed the door but it hasn’t latched.
I was out as soon as I heard Ali Express.
You’re missing out a little mate. Great prices and decent buyer protection if you don’t mind waiting a little for products to get shipped out to you. I also link to Amazon sources for the same products in the video description but it’s very hard to beat AliExpress for low value items.
@@VanillaTesla I've tried them several times. Received counterfeit products, broken items, or never got the items at all. Dealing with refunds and exchanges is non-existent. Fool me once...fool me twice..after three times it's never happening again. Glad you had a good experience but that's not been mine or most of anyone's I talk to about them. ✌️
Genuinely sorry to hear that. What sort of products did you receive counterfeits of? Did you raise a ticket and were you not offered any buyer protection?
@@VanillaTesla we have had counterfeit video game items (controllers and parts for them). Recently had counterfeit art supplies being sold at full price. We raised a stink and multiple emails but NEVER heard a word from anyone regarding any of the issues.
Poor form that they didn’t step in to resolve the problems you had on the platform. I’ve posted alternative links for most products on Amazon for the people that don’t want to wait for shipping from China or don’t want to use AliExpress.
What? Jump start a tesla??? why would you need a jump start?... am I missing something?
Primarily for other cars not for your own car. The new Teslas run a 16v low voltage system so you can’t jumpstart other cars as the voltage is too high. Also just handy to have a powerbank and flashlight around. Theoretically you could use it to pop the frunk jumper release on another stranded tesla as well. Lots of good reasons to have a powerbank/jumper kit in your car!
We need S accessories. 😞
Lots of the features we try to emulate with accessories come standard on the S and X so that’ll be a short list 😅 Satonic and Hansshow have a few model S accessories listed. You can get 20% and 15% off respectively with the code VANILLA.
@@VanillaTesla We need some solutions for if Ur phone doesn't fit the charge pad? The only plug outlet is in the bin under the cup holder. Ambient lighting options? There has got to be some fun S stuff out there too.
I don't recommend a jump starter in a car !!! I hade my from my old ise car and one day i stop to help someone on the road it was my lake day my jump starter was about to expound and bern my car
Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience but I’ve used 4 or 5 different models myself over the years and have never had an issue. What was the make and model of your jump starter?
first
You surly did
It's sad that people have to pay extra change the Tesla dash displays to make up for for what is a poor interior dash design.
I agree somewhat that it was a significant corner to cut to have the dash so very minimal but the majority of owners are happy to make do. At the end of the day accessories will always be made and marketed to fill the gaps.
So much up speak in this video lol
My bad I’ll try to keep it on the DL in the next one
Nice video, but it’s called a TeSla, not TeZla….🤣🤣🤣
Thankz. I’ll keep that in mind for the nexzt one 😉🤣
Really!
If you listen to Elon say it, he also says TeZla. I was surprised at that when I was listening to him on Joe Rohan’s podcast.
such a bummer the moment I heard Aliexpress I was done. I forbid my kids and wife to buy anything from there. I think the products are not safe and a waste of money.
I put down an Amazon list as well if that’s your preferred marketplace but you’ll be paying significant premiums for the exact same products. It’s your choice.
Why do Austrailians always finish their sentences with a raised tone, as if they are asking questions?
Part of the local accent I suppose
Such a shame to speak so fast, hard to understand…
Thanks for the note. I’ll try to slow it down next time. In the meantime, you can turn on closed captions or post a comment if you need more information on anything.
@@VanillaTesla thank you for your answer. Your vids are really interesting. Non native speakers will appreciate I guess 👍🏻
You do know you can slow the video speed down, right?
Hi Vanilla Tesla, are you on Facebook or Messenger? I'm also from Australia and just wanted to ask you some questions.
Hey mate feel free to reach out via email at vanillatesla@mail.com and we can go from there!
If made in china 👎
Good luck finding accessories that are made anywhere else?
