Hi. My name is [Molly] OMG YES
I would literally pay money for a podcast about this stuff its so useful to me
1:33 THAT TRANSITION THO
Evan Reyne that transition makes me happy
What makes anybody "so special"? The fact that they're living and dreaming and loving themselves even though they're living in a society that tells them you have to fit a certain mold in order to be happy and live their life. The fact that they're here as themselves and as a result of their parents and grand parents and great grandparents. The fact that if one person in their family history had made a different choice, they might not be here right now, but since they are, they're going to make their life a good one.
This applies to you. Yes, you. And also to me. And also to the person next to you. The people you love, and the people you hate. This applies to everybody.
~A very wise philosopher named *me*.
Mimi :D did you mean me(mi)
Tara L yes.
Mimi :D sorry that was terrible 😂
Thank you for this. ♡
++++
i love your chatty videos, listening to you talk really opens my eyes and has helped me see a lot of things in a different and more healthy way and i appreciate them a lot.
Dude seamless edit with the makeup 👌🏻
highkey trying to find a flaw with it at 0.25 speed holding down the space bar and it's still perfect
You can go frame by frame with the . and , keys
Film school put to good use!
You can see it frame by frame. Look at her shirt. She probably synced it by looking at her face
scruffthemagicdragon i don't think she went to film school? But either way a talented creative person
yes i completely agree about the "not wanting to voice something bc you're afraid to be heartbroken" i hate telling people what I want to do when I grow up because it changes every five minutes. i hate telling people what colleges i'm applying to or what i'm trying to achieve with my life for fear that people will judge me and think "why is she trying to achieve that she's not good enough/never will be" and that i'm aiming too high or too low or am not "making the right decision"
you never forget to be awesome
I love your little chats... You open up and talk about things that not everyone talks about so easily and it's so easy to relate with you!!
these videos make me so happy omlll ilyy
mckinley mingacci As a believer myself I think "luck " is the best word we have to describe God's blessings. Because even the greatest Bible scholar couldn't explain to you why not every Believer is successful. I personally believe that some people just want it more than others that is why they get it, because they can endure the hardships and persevere to make it to the top. Too often as Believers we put limitations on G-d. So I do believe luck or Divine Providence or whatever you call it it all means the same thing. Just make sure to give credit where credit is due when you do make it.
The sheer amount that Tessa smiles in general enriches and enlightens my life.
This is so good! I agree. There is a lot of work that can be done with no payoff, we would know, but we still love what we make, and work hard to make stuff that we love every day. Thanks for this video. I really needed to hear this today. -Luke
Your presence on the internet; regardless of status, has helped me in my mental illness journey so damn much. I've had and always will have such a love & adoration for your spirit.
I really admire how you can thoughtfully respond to comments like that. It shows a lot of class and maturity.
I live for these videos recently. The whole "get ready with my while I chat" are some of my favorite videos
yo, i really really needed that at the moment. i spent my whole day thinkging about how I've been trying to avoid being vulnurable for a few years, and how that has kept me from achieving things and talking to people that I actually would have liked to talk to, just in order to avoid feeling that heartbreak. But I realised, that if I ever wanted to feel all those things I'm dreaming about, I'll have to go all out. I don't want to go down without being able to say 'I've tried'. So this kinda gave me the last push to really start risking more and being more open and vulnerable. So for me, a greatly timed video! thanks!
i love the simple message of combatting "why you?" with "why not me?"
YES YES THIS EVERYTHING
+musicalbethan ❤️❤️❤️
Good morning you ♥️ tessa violet good morning you ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I think what reminds me most, when I'm feeling down myself, that so much of success is luck is knowing that I've "discovered" work by extremely talented people that I can see hasn't gotten the attention (so far) that it necessarily deserves. I also believe that everyone is capable of creating something that deserves to be recognized (even if it takes some practice first) and learning to believe that that includes me too has really helped. It helps me go easier one something that might have ended up being practice (whether I intended for it to be or not) for something better later.
wow i love tessa. she pours out her thoughts with no set goal to achieve, and its very intriguing and unique. she is a wonderful, sweet, bean.
1:34 okay that transition actually blew my mind
I love what you said about "being afraid to vocalize your dreams because you're afraid of heartbreak." That's such a profound and interesting thought, and makes me want to think harder about what might be holding me back from doing the things I want to do. From achieving the things I want to achieve. I really love that. And you. I'm a fan. ❤️
Wait what, that transition at 1:34 was perfect!
I'm only seeing this in June of 2018, but I really needed this.
It's so easy to loose faith when you keep telling yourself you're good, but not good enough.
"Why not me?"
I'm happy with what I make and I have improved a lot.
Thank you.
Why do all of Tessa's videos make me rethink all decisions I've made in life and how I've made them. She makes me just wanna be the best, most down to earth person. I love it.
You have a unique take on the path we all walk as artists. Thanks for your continual inspiration and thoughtful words. I immensely appreciate what you do Tessa!
as a person who subscribed to you way back in the day, i'm always very pleasantly surprised to hear your thoughts and feelings about artistry as an artist myself. i've just recently started watching your videos again, and i find that with every one, you give me a little bit more validation toward my own feelings, and a validation for my art. because, yes, i do like my art (i'm a writer), and i can proudly defend my own taste in my genre. obviously being an artist with a mental illness such as anxiety or depression isn't uncommon, but it's lovely to be able to see you representing that section of people honestly and accurately and in a way that doesn't try to exploit us either. thanks tessa, keep doing what you're doing.
needed this so much today. youre amazing
You approach these subjects with such maturity, poise and good humour. Seems like you're really developing a healthy mindset, it's so lovely to see that! Thank you for this Tessa, your words always put things in perspective for me.
I feel like these videos are the best example of what makes you special. You take negative or off beat ideas and put a positive and enjoyable spin on them. It makes for inspirational videos and i think thats why your version of sail got more then three times the views of the official music video.
I watched this twice in a row. Not much in the world leads me to do that other than songs, scenes from movies, skits/fail videos
I love the way you think, experiences you've been through have given you so much wisdom on how the world works.
That editing thing with the makeup was FLAWLESSSSSSSS
I love these so much! I did the same thing about not vocalizing my dreams so that I couldn't fail publicly if they didn't come true. It's always nice to hear others have had similar thoughts/experiences
Your videos give me so much comfort, just by you talking through your feelings, it makes me feel less alone to feel like there's someone who experiences this crazy world a bit like me. Much love xo
Words cannot describe how much I love when Tessa makes videos like this. They always make me feel lighter when I watch them.
I have been binge watching and rewatching your videos for the past two days, especially the chatty make up ones, because I love them, they make me feel better and they are so clear and honest. I love that you talk about your train of thought and how all of your thoughts are related. It makes it a lot clearer for me to think about my mental health. So good job, Tessa, really, keep up the good work
That makeup transition tho! So beautiful, so perfect. I kept repeating it lol
You have been my friend for so long. Thanks for helping me so much in my life, particularly with expressing myself and letting myself do something to be proud of. It's weird how much bravery and confidence you've encouraged in me. Thanks for being you, Tessa.
you are special and we love what u r doin' . this 3 min video changed my thoughts on music production thank you . sometimes we can't see whats in front of us
I can't love this enough. Very articulate and wise and brave. Please keep going. Your music is amazing. Love your voice and creativity. ❤️👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Your vlogs really make my day. They have inspired me to try out different things, and got me to know myself better. Thanks!
"look to people *you trust* for critique"
i really needed this today, thank you
I really wanted to focus on this video but I've watched this one part about 17 times and I'm still amazed. 1:34 .... ?!?!?!? Magic?!?! Fricken talent?!?! I HAD TO WATCH IT IN SLOW MO AND WAS STILL LIKE ?!?!?!??! HOW?!?!??!?! AMAZING.
A M A Z I N G.
That lil' graph just changed my life.
What makes you so special? You are so honest about yourself and don't hide behind a character for UA-cam for one. We like your music and I like your music for too many reasons to list. Haters won't stop hating, but as of today 46,459 views watch and keep coming back. Also the likes out weigh the dislikes by so much it's crazy good, The dislikes amount to null at .004 %.
I love that you would take a question from a viewer and relate it to your inner voice. I imagine that viewer also has that inner voice telling them that they aren't special. I think you accurately saw a negative comment veiled as a question as someone asking for helping addressing their own inner voice.
omg that makeup edit, your editing skills are great.
this is such an important topic. thank you Tessa.
you give me hope and inspiration in dark times. love your videos
Love your videos ❤️
She is honestly so beautiful
loved seeing you with Bry and Dave Giles in manchester! You were so kind and genuine (and didn't make me feel weird about being socially anxious). Your performance really helped me, you mentioned you had bad anxiety at one point but seeing someone so outgoing and someone who is able to be themselves in front of a large audience, it really made me realise that it does get better if you get help. Thank you, Tessa.
Even if you never get "famous", your art will still be yours. Many famous composers were not appreciated during their lifetime. All I can say is that I have my B.A. in Music and I appreciate your work, your creativity, and the genuine fun that you have making it! Forget the haters and keep being awesome! :-D
Been watching your channel since it's early days in 2007, its wonderful see how you have grown and made such improvements within your self. Never fear about how well you can do as you as achieved much.
I think you are simply splendid. I love your honesty, kindness, sense of humor, delight, creative spirit, amazing voice and that you are so obviously a wonderful friend. xxxx
This is so true! I agree with everything. These are things I regularly think and wish more people thought about so thanks for making this, it will help a lot of artists.
I love how open and honest you are, dont ever change you wonderful star :)
You a an inspiration, I respect you more and more everyday 😭😭😭😭
Love this girl and love her music and her makeup transformation she's totally awesome
love the optimism that you project. beautiful soul.
Your videos are honestly like a therapy to me. I learn something new every time. Thank you 💜.
As an actor I agreed with absolutely everything you said here. Dreams are weird, luck is weird. Ugh art
How can so much talent and so much wisdom coexist in one person so young?
First off, I'm crazed about your song, "Haze" and secondly, I've been following your channel for quite some time, now. You do bring an unique flavor of talent to the table. I dig it 100%. "Dynamic" has been very prominent, here. You've done a lot of pretty awesome videos through out the years with a lot of other talented people, too.
help for the self esteem struggle: use logic. that voice tells you lies, and it's a very emotional thought process. combat this by using logic: the world is so vast, that you and your experiences are completely unique to you. no one else could have fought through your struggles the way you have to make it to this point. life has put so much work into every detail of your world, shaping someone who deserves to show others their special light and take in others'. if saying you are amazing makes you uncomfortable remember this: as much as we are afraid of not shining enough, we are doubly afraid of shining brilliantly, and acknowledging ourselves as such
i think all of your videos are very succinct, i've never thought you were going on too long about a topic
this is helpful for all of us musicians out there who are afraid to try bc of the fear of failure
thanks, tessa
TESSA YOU ARE EXTREMELY SPECIAL AND WE LOVE YOU. YOU ARE ORIGINAL AND KIND AND SWEET AND INTELLIGENT HONEST AND BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL.
These videos are so inspiring and motivating. You say the exact things an aspiring artist needs to hear. Thank you so much for that!
I think it's a really interesting one when questioning if your work is special or different enough in the arts. I personally just think we're all part of this larger journey of development and being inspired by other artists. Like the artists we look up to also had artists before them they looked up to. It's quite rare to get people who are on the cutting edge of art and who are breaking the mould (really key figures) but they still had people who influenced them. Sometimes the journey is slow but I think it's really good to get a sense of perspective by looking 100 years prior.
Just the other day I was thinking of you. I noticed you hadn't made a video in a while and missed hearing from you. you probably don't need to hear it from me, but I love your music! ever since you started I was super excited for you, and you just keep getting better. You and Dodie have inspired me to actually pick up an instrument or three and even sing in public. Your coment about being vulnerable In this video really got to me, and i have to agree. you can't truly live without sharing your soul and risking a little heartbreak, but trying and being passionate is totally worth it.
I love love love this video- I also love the idea that UA-cam gives artists of any kind to learn and grow with eachother. Its just so freaking special and amazing❤
Literally everyone is special and art ain't nothing but humans feeling connected to other humans. That person is so jealous and bitter they can't even see the beauty in other people. Bringing technical proficiency into a conversation about self-expression. Lordy.
i found tessa through her music and LOVE it.
I think everybody who is daring enough to put oneself outthere deserves success, sadly the world is not fair and plenty of gems will not be discovered.
Clapping randomly before the video starts to hear how close I was to the actual rhythm 😂😂
I feel like this comment will dictate all my Tessa/Dodie video viewing experience from now on.
Yeah, it really sucks when people try to "put you into place" like this. I'm still not over all the times it happened to me.
tessa has been killing two birds with one stone lately. doing her makeup and filming a chatty video idk why but i just love the format
I started watching your videos because I thought that you were very wise, I'm still here today and you are getting wiser. Thanks for your wiseness :)
i appreciate your wisdom so much. thank you for putting your ideas out in the world.
"What if you don't become mainstream because..". In the grand scheme of things does it actually matter if you become mainstream, if you still get to do something you love for a job, meet new people, have new and interesting experiences, and share you passion with thousands of people across the world? It's always good to set new goals for oneself, to keep pushing to be the best that they can be, but it's also important not to forget all that you've achieved thus far, and understand that it's not the end of the world if you fall short of the ultimate goal, because you could still land in a very comfortable place.
your videos are always so wise i love em thanks man
Gorgeous. What makes you unique is your individual intellect. diversity of thought is the most important and differentiating factor. Yo do you, gorgeous.
I'm so glad you're making so many more videos lately (over the past year). I missed seeing you, and you were one of my first youtubers I watched. You helped me a lot my freshman year of high school, then slowly disappeared and I missed you. This past year though, my freshman year of college, you've been back and have helped me so much. I just wanted to say thank you.
"There was a time where this wasn't my full time job and it was a dream, and I worked for it but I did it very quietly and privately because I was too afraid that if I vocalize the dream and I didn't achieve it, I would be heart broken"
I love all your videos/vlogs when it comes to music and progressing. I was very happy and surprised that you've progressed throughout the years, too. From the Harry Potter song to Haze, your vocals became a lot better along with everything else.
I cried while watching this again, your so incredible Tessa!
I've recently discovered your art and I'm hooked. You've got all my support!
I really love these videos. Thank you for taking the time to make and share them with us. Also, you're awesome for turning what could have been a moment to feel down on yourself into a moment of positivity and hope you then spread to your viewers. You're pretty great. :)
Tessa! I loved this! I could listen to your rambles for such a long time. Thanks for sharing :)
I just discovered your music, and I love it. You moved straight into my top five artists. Binging you on google play while I work the last couple days, lol. Keep it going.
Whenever you give these types of talks, it always sounds very relatable. You never come accross as someone very preachy and righteous. I love your content. Happy is always achieved when you let yourself want to be. Have a nice day. :)
+janwarie that's so nice to hear thank you ❤️
I'm so glad I've kept up with your great videos for so many years, it is so great that somehow I feel like I've matured with you through them; if that makes sense. I used to replay your lip syncing music videos that you made in your living room over and over again back in 2012 because your editing skills were just so original to me, and still is! And well, thanks a lot for giving me a little bit more faith in myself and my dreams every time I come back to watch your videos.
Meekakitty fo life.
thanks for making so much sense of thoughtzithings. I love how you take me out of my own brain, help me see through someone else's eyes then drop me back into my own head with a slightly widened view through my own lens. Really cool 'landing' on the 'why not me' angle and dreaming big re earning/deserving...
I legit haven't watched your videos for years but I just recently got back into youtube and I really needed to hear this so thank you
Don't ever doubt yourself Tessa, I LOOOVVVEEE your music and you have a really nice and unique voice! Keep doing your stuff! :)
i swear those backgrounds just get more and more aesthetic 🔥🔥
this is beautiful, and really inspiring. just... overall great, like all of tessa's videos.
So well articulated! Your content resonates with me so much. You're basically my soul sister in the flip side of the planet!
I feel like this a lot. This helps, so thanks ❤️
