$120 more than the 14900K; _for only 100 MHz more._
Go home Intel, you're drunk.
People who can afford top end CPU's like i9 14900K couldn't give two shits about the cost.
@@2hotflavored666pretty sure most of them still do, as it's a $120 gap for what probably amounts to a couple fps increase.
@@2hotflavored666 I can easily afford 14900k and it still wouldn't buy it, clearly this is almost a scam product.

Oh yeah, and I'm also really tired. I grabbed at my phone and couldn't work out what the Alarm was.
I hate that alarm so much

The "S" stands for Sucker.
And here I thought the KS stands for "Keep Spending"
KS=Kooked in Snakeoil 😉😋
It stands for sleep. Hence the Intro
Alas there are still plenty of those arguing that in fact the 14900K is more power efficient because it uses 2w less than a 7950X in a single threaded workload or that the KS is a god tier CPU if you disable e-cores and HT. Some people are just lifelong Intel fanboys.
You joke, but for a while I actually thought KS stood for “Keep Standing”
Can't wait for Intel's next generation i9, the Intel Core i9 15900KYS
😂😭
1 mhz more. Yea !
Honestly outside of mediocre performance compared to the competition, there's no scenario where I want my PC sucking down 20%-30% more power for 5% more performance.
I wish my 5600X was as mediocre as you say (in term of performance), but yeah : too power hungry (as most top-end CPU), not enough improvement (vs 13900K) ... a good year if you want to stick with Intel, because, you won't spend a penny until, at least, the 15900K (Arrow lake ?)
The last 1% extra performance cost up to 90% more power.
Cpu power draw is only one part of pc's power usage. Real world is 5 to 10% more pc total power draw, assuming you have a beastly gpu to match this beastly cpu.
okay, here's a scenario, you live in Frostpunk world on edge of the city and heating doesn't reach your place... now you can get slightly better chances of survival
@@grospoulpe951 The 5600X is still an okay CPU though. It won't win any prizes, but it'll get the job done.

can’t wait for the userbenchmark review on this one
"Well, this revolutionary product is clearly meant for overclocking, so if you put it on liquid nitrogen and pump 500 Watts into it, pair it with the most expensive DDR5-8000 memory, it clearly beats the cheap 7800X3D from that inferior budget brand by at least 1% on avg in our not all that selective benchmarks. Sure games crash with such an unstable overclock, but you sure as well won't be freezing while you waiting for that exciting memory retraining phase to complete!" or something.

I really miss that meme back in 2015 when I was watching TechRax.
It does make sense. It is the top binned 14900K. You know what you are getting for your money and don't have to do silicon lottery. It is perfectly sensible for intel to release such CPU for those that will buy it. It might be not me and not you but this segment certainly exists. There are some people who are rich as fuck and can burn money like there is no tomorrow. Is it sensible by your perspective, not. Is it by their, yes definitely, they want the best of the best, they don't care about money.

I am a proud all-amd PC owner. Not a fanboy.. just a smart boy. ❤
@christophermullins7163 over the years i've owned x86 cpus/chipsets from most companies i think. AMD,Intel, cyrix and i think another company. Lately AMD has the best all-round CPUs from price to performance and now features (AVX512). The BIOS teething issues have been a real pain with AM5 but that looks mostly fixed now.
All in all i'm happy with my 5.2ghz all core r9-7950x which is cooled only by a 240mm rad. I also am in a hot climate of around 35c most days and no aircon where the pc is. 5.2ghz sustained on every core is fantastic. I just think the AM5 boards currently suck with no 2x16 (fully electrically populated) PCI-E slots. That means that i can't get a legacy raid card at full 16x on my board. It seems like a big step back in fundamental support and design. It's the only major issue the expensive AM5 platform really suffers from. Board from 5 or 10 years ago have no issues with that.

Only thing I have to say is Watt the hell.
The power consumption on this thing must be hilarious
techpowerup got one to draw 500W with an overclock and all the power limits turned off
so 3x the power draw of its amd counterpart, neat.
This thing is putting out just a little under 1400 BTUh of heat at full load into your room. By contrast, a 7950X does ~1000 BTUh, and 7800X3D does 317 BTUh(93 watts) at full load. I'm mining Qubic on my 7800X3D right now at 100% load with PBO/EXPO tuning and it's drawing 93.427 watts. I can't imagine having 1400 BTU per hour of heat dumped into my room by this 14900KS. What can you even cool it with besides a 480mm AIO or custom loop?!
One reviewer got 115°C out of one on air cooling. The thermal management is so good nowadays that it'll clock down when it hits its temperature limit and limp along with reduced performance instead of just crashing.
That alarm going off at the beginning gave me a minor panick attack! WHAT MEETING AM I MISS--- oh, its the video... lol
I like how they compare the 7950x3d to the 14ks in productivity knowing full well the 7950X would do better than the x3d part. Intel cooking the books as always
Even then, the 7950X3D only loses a bit of performance for a significant reduction in power use.
This is considering the overall efficiency of the 7950X relative to the various (unlocked) Raptor Lake i9s.
It is called 1st party testing, everyone cherry pick what to test or show.
Intels cooking everything with the heat of these processors.
I think overclockers would appreciate a binned memory controller far more than a miniscule frequency increase.

Nobody is going out and buying a 14900ks for a new system. (Or at least I hope they are not doing this.) This is one last upgrade for the LGA 1700 socket a la 5800X3D for AM 4. And the 14900ks is 18% faster than the 5800 X3D.
@@genericyoutubeaccount579 _"And the 14900ks is 18% faster than the 5800 X3D."_ That is not a great endorsement, considering the 5800X3D is 2 years old and 2 Intel generations behind. Not to mention it runs on DDR4 memory, which granted the massive L3 cache mitigates to a degree.
If anyone on a LGA 1700 is looking to upgrade the 14700K is probably a *much* better choice as it has has the same 8P cores but 12E cores, but is also around $130 cheaper than a 13900k/14900k to me it is the sweet spot for a near flagship Intel CPU.

Specifically, one watt is defined as one joule per second (1 W = 1 J/s).

Oh and just XMP on the RAM. I didn’t change LLC value. I have set voltage offset at a modest -0.010v. I have disabled the C6&C7 C states and EIST. Lastly I have locked AVX at 0 offset. The sketch at the start made me half expect a cameo appearance of GN Steve calling you to wake up.
You think it's possible and a safe overclock for the 14900 kf of 6,2 ghz on the prefered cores?
How much more power did they squeeze through their design without lighting the substrate on fire?
There is one exciting thing about 14900KS. Power consumption in games is 30% more than 14900K. So from being triple power compared to 7800x3d, now it's quadruple for the same FPS.
As a new 7800x3D user the best feature isn't the framerates or 3D vcache: it's how incredibly efficient it is. Tried a cinebench run just for kicks, it peaked at 60 or 70 watts. Gaming workloads? 30-40 watts. And it's beating a 14th gen Intel pulling 200-300 watts. You could cool the thing with a wraith prism stock cooler if you wanted to. This 14900KS however? I don't even know if the new Arctic Liquid Freezer AIO can keep it cool. Intel need to have a chat with the AMD engineers, because a gaming CPU should not be drawing more power than a RTX 4080, it's just abysmal for efficiency.
Once again no bullshit reviews, thats why i love your reviews and advice. Kudos! A man who could see you if i could dig deep enough . UK
