- Recently I have started doing some DIY hydrotherapy for my dog Bowie because she hasn't walked for almost 4 months but it seems to help her a lot, she is eating more and have more energy. This could be a great idea for any dogs that have injured their legs. #dogs #dogtherapy #hydrotherapy

Hello! Came across your video while searching for hydrotherapy. May I also suggest using warm water because it helps to expand the blood vessels and improves blood circulation around the body. The muscles are able to stretch giving a greater flexibility of limb movement. Saw this tip while I was researching!

Thank you so much for this video! My yorkie broke his wrist and the muscles healed fixed together. He lost so much muscle on crate rest they suggested hydrotherapy in the tub and I had no idea how to do it. This is so helpful! ♥ Thank you so much!

Thanks mate, for sharing this with us, as my dog has completely torn her ligament, will get arthritis, in the future, she has a lot of problems with her leg, and needs underwater therapy, so this is a great idea for people with small dogs, and don't have money to see a specialist. You are a bloody legend
My Yorkie has a torn knee joint ligament . And has arthritis. Did this help ur dog? I can totally see it helping for arthritic dogs. Just wondering about the ligament .
Thankyou ❤ my dog is elderly and a little bigger as he is a yorkshire terrier parsons russell cross, and he has lost full use of his hid legs, he can still walk but only for about a minute unaided, rest of the time on walks i use harness sling, im going to try him in a warm ish near full tub and lift him so he too will make swimming motions, this is more helpful advice than ive managed to get from a vet so far. Anything is worth trying. 🐾🐾
I appreciate this video so much! My 11 year old chihuahua is starting to struggle to get up the stairs and has luxating patellas that have been getting worse with age, so we'll be trying this!

Do the therapy at the same time of day and do it regularly. Lot's of treats to be sure. She will learn to enjoy it. You go girl!

Hey! I hope Bowie is doing better! I have Yorkie and Bowie was 2nd place as a name, he's 8 now though. I think I wanna attempt this to keep his back legs strong. Went to the vet today and they mentioned he might have a mild luxating patella, but because it's inconsistent once this week once like 3 diff times last year not to worry too much, since leg massage usually left him feeling fine and hasn't limped for like an entire day. I'm hoping this will be a proactive approach and keep it from becoming a problem in age.

I had a husky who could not walk she drug her hind end. I was juicing wheat grass at the times did I remembered dogs eat grass when they are not feeling well so I gave her some in a syringe everyday and she was running within a month. I also changed her food and no treats.
Thanks for sharing this video, my dog has a stage 3 Luxating Patella and is getting surgery in 2 days, I was thinking about giving him water therapy at home in the bath to help him. So it’s good to see how your dog is with it.
Oh yeah it totally helps, keeping those legs going will make a huge difference vs. doing nothing.

how did you get her to start standing? ive started the motion exercises my dog has ivdd (sipped disc in back), hes still only on day 10 but have to start rehab therapy soon,vet said at 2 weeks you can and id like to try on my own.Just not sure how to start when he cant even stand.Hopeing his legs get stronger.
Hello Dr please could we possibly have a progress update. I just found out our jack russell chihuahua cross is losing muscle mass in his back legs.
Yes my dog is walking again! I also would try doing exercises on the ground, let your dog "crawl" with treats but dont let them walk, this can build some good muscles without putting full strain on the legs. I will have an updated video soon.

So sorry....my yorkie has liver shunt & we are struggling to get her better....Millie is only 4, this is the hardest to handle my heart goes out to you
2 months later I am super curious! My little dachshund seems to have IVDD so I am looking up hydrotherapy videos! She has one shakey leg that causes her issues but once she gets up she can walk fine soo I think this should help plus she has ALWAYSA loved swimmin.. getting a little pool to put in my stall shower I am jealous of your bathtub lol
my shizu has the same thing, just wondering how long did yours have to be on meds for? Wondering how long ill have to pay for them. Going to have to start the therapy part soon.
How about a towel on bottom of tub so no slipping-that’s what I do for our dog’s bath
What brand life vest is she wearing?
My dog was hit by a car 6 days ago she cant stand on her hind legs now... Hopefully these hydrotherapy techniques will help her regain that hind leg strength

I don't think that'd work. You need a pump, and jets.
Feed her row flesh .... Strat smal and go up until u get to 100 150 grams of raw flesh per day .... Stop giving her the crackers you're slowly posening her
I have tried the raw meat for a week but she got worse so I got her back on diy homemade food. Believe me, I've tried every trick in the book.
